I was a Plus customer for many years. The recent Yapper incident left a bad taste. It's not the first lifetime deal which failed, but Appsumo are now deleting most critical reviews and comments of a product launched by a suspicious founder. This very much deserves a one star review and shows that they aren't trustworthy.

Instead of protecting a shady business, they should protect their customers.

Over the past decade, I've purchased several deals from Appsumo. Many as a Plus member. Some deals purchased I'm still using, some companies went under, some didn't grow into what was expected. That's the way of businesses, and when you're buying an LTD, you kind of know going in that you don't know what you're gonna get. That wouldn't necessarily be Appsumo's fault.

However, over the past year or so, the failure rate is increasing, even to the point of Appsumo allowing companies to change the original deal structure for already-purchased deals...and Appsumo changing the deal page so that it completely erases all traces of what the original deal really was. That's either stupid or underhanded on Appsumo's part. I don't know which, but when it looks like Appsumo is not only allowing, but helping companies to bait-and-switch buyers, it does bring into question whether Appsumo is a company I should be dealing with.

Since all deals are supposed to be vetted by Appsumo, the fact that even these "Appsumo Select" deals end up acting scammy, means that there's a serious issue with Appsumo's vetting process, if nothing else. There was a time when I would have given Appsumo 4 or 5 stars. Today, it's a hard 1-star with a sad warning to users to proceed with caution.

I bought two lifetime deals from Gozen back in 2022 , looks like they canceled my account over a dispute they had with AppSumo on payments. AppSumo offered a refund on the sales page of the respective offers with a short window, but never sent an email to the buyers like me. And now I am stuck with a closed account !!

Found several AMAZING lifetime deals. Potentially life changing for me. This is where AppSumo excells. New launches that are looking for traction so they are selling a part of the farm. But... AppSumo is a big discount shop with lots of changing inventory... plus a recent "backstepping" by one of the lifetime deals I got took away some of the luster. Still... I give AppSumo a strong recommendation and just say, as with everything on the Internet, don't assume anything. Do your research!

Excellent platform for lifetime deal software
I've purchased several products on AppSumo over the past year (Quick Creator, Merlin, Letterly, Fox Signals, and Unmixr AI) and the experience has been very positive.
What I liked:

Wide selection of AI tools and software at really competitive prices with lifetime licenses
Simple and immediate code redemption process
Helpful and friendly customer support when I needed assistance
The ability to test products that would otherwise have high monthly costs

The products I've tried so far work well and represent an excellent investment for those who want professional tools without recurring subscriptions.
I recommend AppSumo to anyone looking for affordable software solutions and wanting to explore new tools for productivity or business.

I bought a heavily promoted lifetime deal for the Yapper app on AppSumo, clearly sold as ongoing monthly credits and long term access. After just two weeks, the deal was suddenly changed into a limited one time credit pool with upsells for more credits, mainly driven by Yapper but fully enabled and communicated by AppSumo.
This is not a minor adjustment, it is a fundamental change to what was advertised and what I paid for. In my view this is misleading and completely unacceptable behavior, especially from Yapper, and it shows that you simply cannot trust AppSumo’s “lifetime” deals.

they are good, but, not what they used to be, i bought a few apps there, and they were crap, unfortunately, the owner stopped caring, no refund received

So far I am pleased with AppSumo’s customer service support. When I added DepositPhotos to my cart, entered my payment information, then submitted my ordered, I received an error message that said my cart was empty, please review it. So I repeated the process and it did the same thing. So I quit. Then I saw two payments out of my bank account. I contacted support right away and as soon as I gave them the code they needed, I received my refund today.
As to the subscription I purchased, it’s too soon to tell.

They want to sell you software from their vendors. The vendors later don't support the software that they and AppSumo profited from. Then no one wants to issue a credit.

I had a problem modifying software with Appsumo activation, and they promptly resolved it by contacting support.

These scammers take 70% cuts of the products of founders and they also take the IP

I’ve been a customer about 5 years now. When it comes to finding high quality apps with a lifetime license, AppSumo is the best. And their plus membership takes much of the risk of investing in startups away. Twice have received refunds as a Plus member when a business went belly up. They did seem to get a lot looser with their vettings but over the last two months they have really stepped up to improve things.

Over the years I have had a great experience with AppSumo, having purchased a number of excellent products. The sales and licensing have been silky smooth and on the rare occasion when I have had issues the Customer Service team have been quick and helpful.

I have been very disappointed with a product that I purchased via AppSumo!
WillowVoice! I paid for a years subscription but had to provide my credit card details to Willow Voice to redeem the subscription. Next thing I know, a full year's full price subscription has been taken by Willow Voice, therefore I have paid twice for a product, so not very happy. I raised a review on the AppSumo website that has not been published and has been suppressed, so I have no confidence in the AppSumo website, or the reviews they publish. It's my opinion that only positive reviews seem to make the cut, those that are critical in any way do not get published.

I have been an AppSumo client for over three years now. I have purchased over 700 products from them on the Life Time Deals
