RUN!

It took 70 days for them to approve my business loan because it took them days and weeks to respond to my submissions (which I sent back same or next day). It took them two weeks to send me the forms to complete and another two weeks to tell me they had told me to fill them out incorrectly. Took 3 hours collectively in one day to actually get this put through so I wouldn't lose my business.

Overcharged fees

All banks are much the same, but ANZ really stands out for it's lack of professionalism.
Called ANZ After receiving a letter noting that theyve been overcharging me on fees. Spoke with Mohamed, a most aggressive, condescending call centre person.
After some 10 minutes of being bullied and told it's up to customers to choose the right account, call was disconnected. Called complaints and gave up after waiting 8 minutes.

They could answer the phone with a real person Get rid of the AI that doesn't allow for person to person contact. This has to be the worst bank ever. No follow after a complaint, no support. Its all about using the 'app' to get help and every obstacle is in place to stop contact.
They cannot transfer money to another bank only to ANZ.
My previous visit to a branch was a lengthy wait while clerks at desks sat idle. Eventually approached by a sour faced clerk reluctantly offering help.
Improve your customer service in branch and on the phone. You are just a bank and one of many alternative banks. Without customers you will no longer exist.

No EFTPOS access until I sign authority

Could not activate by any means my new ANZ debit card that replaced the access card. After several calls telling me that it was activated, I finally spoke to someone who said we had to come into a branch to sign an authority. It eventually went to their resolutions dept only to be told they could not help us and we would have to come into a branch. Our nearest branch is twenty five klms away, as local branch has closed. I declined. I was then offered one hundred dollars for the inconvenience of having to come in. I told them that I do not want their money, just EFTPOS access to my account that is being held to ransom until I do what they want. I am presently transferring all credits, debits and balance for this account as I still have access online and then will be closing it. Unbelievable, as we have had this account for over thirty years. (MY COMPLAINT NOW SUCCESSFULLY RESOLVED).

Zero stars

Zero stars. If this bank went any further downhill they'd need to dig a tunnel. Being a small business once meant actually having helpful staff available with relative ease, now you get passed from call centre to call centre with no one able to help or even understand which department to direct you to. Shutting down an account is near impossible - we're told we must visit a branch, those rare old buildings the bank usually deems unnecessary, which can only be found in a desert mirage. They make the appointment time without your input, then send you a text with no contact number to change it. I did finally get a branch phone number, but they don't answer it or return messages, and they aren't exactly close by. Of course, they're still collecting the monthly account fees! How do they still have the market share they have? AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! Also I should note they have twice in the last 5 years put a hold on all our accounts due to a mistake on their end. We have almost completed the process of leaving after more than 25 years.

I wish I'd read the reviews before…

I wish I'd read the reviews before going with this bank. Referred by mortgage broker due to a good loan offer, but if I could be bothered I'd shut down everything and get out due to their inflexibility and overall poor service. Find any other bank.

Wow, Awful and shameful excuse for a bank

Wow! Who would have thought a bank could be so bad but stay in business for so long?!? Passive aggressive staff, misleading customer communications and information, blatant bigotry and such poor decision making. I’m in shock that no government organisation in Australia has stepped in to make them clean up their bad baking practises. We have 2 mortgages with them and will now actively seek to have them remortgaged with a more honest and reputable provider. Save yourself the grief and loom elsewhere for all and any banking needs…..

ANZ Bank froze my accounts for me…

ANZ Bank froze my accounts for me wanting to send money to an international bank! Could not access any money whatsoever! Got cut off from customer service with no one returning my call! Disgusting! Way too much control you have ANZ with other peoples money!!!!!

Low level of service

I visited an ANZ branch in Vic and was quite disappointed by the quality of the service. While waiting, I noticed several posters around the branch stating “Zero tolerance for aggressive behaviour.” Most businesses promote the idea that “the customer is king” — clearly, that’s not the case here. The message seems to be: “don’t bother us and don’t be aggressive with our staff.” Such signage speaks volumes about the company’s attitude toward its customers.

Worst Bank in Australia

This bank would be the worst bank in australia. Impossible to talk to anyone, I don't believe one can even send them an email anymore. Robot help only, piss poor service and frustrating as hell. Avoid at all costs. They are also unable or unprepared to send out statements.

Have been an ANZ client for 35 years…

Have been an ANZ client for 35 years but the performance of the phone staff (from the Philippines?) is now beyond bad. Give the impression they really do not want to be there. cap this with so many branch closures and I'm over it! Are all banks the same? if not, someone please tell me which of the banks still give good service and I will gladly cut ANZ off my Christmas card list.

Anz Ashmore City “pretend” branch

Worst bank ever! Would give them minus a star if I could, for their total lack of customer service and condescending way they speak to customers.
Don’t go to this branch if need to do personal banking. As this is not allowed??? They had 2 atms in branch with 4 people deep at each of them and a real person sitting as a teller but not allowed to serve personal customers??? Their solution is to ask the customer to walk around the whole shopping centre to use an atm outside.
Your not allowed to complain either they refuse to provide their names but tell you a manger will call you back, but what a shocker they don’t call back…
Run don’t walk away from this bank

I'm disputing a credit card charge.
I followed the instructions and it has taken more than 72 hours to get a reply.
I have called, you just cannot speak to a human.
I sense ANZ wants you to give up, it is a tactic.
They really don't care, they are a disgraceful bank and totally useless, shame, shame, they don't deserve to have any customers.

Impossible if living overseas

Impossible to change address from overseas or even communicate with them. I have made many attempts to change my address. Each time, mission not accomplished. I have moved twice since continued attempts and my cards have expired and still I try to change my address. The one they have is now 3 years out of date. They tell me to come into a branch (I live in New York) or download the app (you have to be in Australia to download it).

They are shit

They are shit, getting someone on the phone takes too long. Even though you ring early hours of morning, and you have to go through the procedures and still get nothing out of it. Try to get a response from urgent center no one there, they hang up. Where is the service you need?

ANZ stole our money...

Set up a home loan with an offset account. It turns out that the $450,000 in the offset account was just a jam tin for ANZ, they did not credit a single day or dollar of interest against the home loan.
We're talking about circa $40,000 in money stolen by ANZ.
When questioned via an official complaint ANZ said that the offset account we have is not compatible with our particular home loan, notwithstanding that we set it all up in branch in accordance with the advice and guidance provided by ANZ.
We went to the branch today to ask what the process was to payout the home loan and close the account.
They would not provide any assistance, just gave us a phone number to call.
We called the number and went through the identification process only to have the call disconnected time and time again.
So we called the complaints line and had the same outcome, call disconnected.
ANZ ARE CRIMINALS
