Warning - Appalling Company, Terrible Support, Slow Servers...

I purchased a Minecraft server 3 months ago, the hosting company was Anvilnode. They took approximately 3 days to have my server available. The server was always having lag issues although I kept plugins to a minimum and had a average of 2 to 3 people online the server, I’ve never had this from other server hosting companies I’ve used, and I’ve tried using a lot of different hosting companies over the years. The customer service had little to no interest in me or my partner, they’re clearly only interested in money.

They certainly lack customer service skills and lack reliable due dates for their billing cycles, they billed us 7 days in advance before the due date when we requested cancellation before the proper due date and they bluntly refuse to refund us for a service we did not want, we only wanted 3 months of hosting then we wanted the service canceled, but instead they bill us for 3 more months! Save your money and look around elsewhere. Our experience was ruined due to the fact the customer service and management couldn’t be bothered to provide a decent server, customer support, and a refund for a service which we did not ask for. We were totally ripped off.

**UPDATE**
Anvilnode refunded us the full amount they billed us and apologized for the inconvenience caused, so I have changed my rating from 1 star to 3 star. They lost 2 stars because at first they weren't willing to refund us our money and took awhile to get a response from. I wish I could give Anvilnode a better rating however over the last few months I've noticed their hosting isn't what it used to be.

A great experience

Updated review.

Support: 15minutes to 12hours. Not the fastest, but OK. Support takes a long time to get online on their store page, but when they do finally get around to it- they are helpful. On the other hand, support does not come live on the client page. Instead, I had to wait 12+ hours for my support ticket to get answered for the first time. Subsequent responses were fairly quick and helpful. Support is friendly and respectful. Update: Support is respectful and generous. I love the work they do.
4/5

Server Performance: Decent. I got tick delay upon entering the nether and leaving it. Apart from that, excellent performance so far. Update: Experiencing 40tick delays consistently with 3+ people spread pretty far apart. Makes sense, but wish it didn't occur.
4/5

Pricing: Anvilnode is more expensive than competitors, and although their support isn't as quick as Pebblehost's, they make up for it by having good servers.
4/5

Server Setup Time: This is a tricky one.

Update: 100% uptime, haven't had any problems. I just got my server setup in America, and although it was a month after I had purchased it, I am totally fine with the wait. They extended my service by a month and I really appreciate that.

Original: Although Anvilnode claims to have North American servers available in Montreal and Los Angeles, this is not the case. I had to wait nearly 30 hours to have my server set up. And it's not even set up in North America. My friends and I are based in Chicago, but we have to connect to a server in Europe to play. Disappointing. The European server was created almost immediately upon request.

I’ve been with Anvilnode for over 2…

I’ve been with Anvilnode for over 2 years and I’ve had over 5 different servers with them. For the pas years I’ve received outstanding support and the performance of the servers was unbeatable. I’ve rarely had any issues and the communication from Anvilnode has always been really good in terms of server migrations, IP changes or planned downtime. Even when issues did occur, such as a DDoS attack or outage, Anvilnode would communicate this with myself or my team (even though we didn’t notice). I appreciated this. I truly felt like the company cared about it’s customers and providing a high quality service. I felt appreciated being their customer.

But… What happened in the past month or 2? Anvilnode went from being a high quality provider to being an awful company. I’ve had several HOURS of downtime the past month without ANY communication regarding this. Additionally, Anvilnode decided it was completely ok to change my IP and migrate my server without any decent notice upfront. They also made the great effort of removing all my Multicraft subaccounts causing my staff to not have access to the panel, again, without decent notice. I don’t know what happened but it simply feels like it’s a different company.

The last straw was me not being able to pay an invoice on their billing area due to it being too slow. YES, you heard that right… A site of a hosting company that cannot load in a decent timeframe.

Farewell Anvilnode.

bad beyond all recognition

we at technology rails have experienced nothing but troubles here at anvil node, and feel that the lack of support is also to blame for the issues. Not once has this host done anything good for us in the time we have been with them. and this isnt the first time i personally have had issues with this host eather. i would suggest to stear clear from here, as this host may be well priced, but they will delete your information and anyone who has access to your server. let me also add that they have cleared all the staff of our server as well as passwords preventing us from doing our jobs on the server for any maintenance whatsoever. as a long time server owner and admin, i can say, i have never had such crappy service and poor customer support. this company doesn't even deserve the star i have given it, as a matter of fact, they deserve negative 5 stars

They WERE one of the best hosts... Lately not so much..

They WERE one of the best hosts I'd ever used. That lasted for a few months. Then they started having frequent downtime more recently. The server would be down with the error message "Can't connect to Daemon...", and sure all hosts have that every few months. But then it happened again, and again all within maybe 2 weeks.

Then I started to notice their website was INSANELY slow and having error pages all over the place. They claimed they fixed it when I created a ticket but it kept happening.

Additionally, I tried creating a full backup of my server (onto my computer) and it was taking a ridiculous amount of time. Normally it would take my server around 3-8 hours max to download. It took it 1-2 full days running non-stop. I should also note that I have a GREAT computer and very fast internet so it was definitely not my side having the trouble.

And finally, their support has been insanely slow lately.

I loved the host (past tense), that's why there are 3 stars. I'm most likely going to be switching hosts though because of all the problems within the last 3 weeks.

Edit: Oh yeah, by the way:
They don't do daily backups, and they said you're not supposed to keep backups in your server files. So if you're a busy person like me, you're not going to have time to manually back up files to your computer. Luckily, EasyBackup (spigot plugin) offers the ability to create backups and put them on other FTP servers. So if you created an FTP server on your computer... Tada, automatic backups!

Excellent.

Excellent service at an excellent price. Lightning fast response times and quite literally 0 downtime on the servers. Had zero issues with mods or plugins and had a blast with friends as a result. Would absolutely recommend!

Absolute Unit

I moved to anvilnode from another hosting service about a year ago. I've tried at least 3 other hosts over the years, and this is by far the most excellent service I've had. They are transparent about any service issues and resolve them in a timely manner. Their support team is human, helpful, and quick to respond to tickets. Their discord community server is organized and professional, often updated with announcements. Server management is a breeze with multicraft and ftp support. They offer quality servers with many plan options. I would definitely recommend anvilnode to my friends or anyone looking to host a minecraft server.

The Best Customer Support!

The staff from this hosting company are the best when it comes to dealing with customers. I have never been disappointed with the customer service from this hosting company.

My last issues, one of the staff Ajdin (The Managing Director) made contact with me in Discord and helped get all my server issues resolved and was more than willing to answer all my questions.

I highly recommend it.

I've been using AnvilNode along with my brother, we host with AnvilNode, and are enjoying all the great benefits it has to offer. 100% of our problems and issues are solved within the same day, if not the day after. They are extremely reliable and trustworthy. We were made to feel very welcome and comfortable.

Great Server Host

AnvilNode is a great host that rarely experiences problems. However, the few times that me and my friends have experienced problems on the server AnvilNode has been quick to act when it comes to fixing our problems. This is an excellent server host and I highly recommend it to anybody starting up a server considering it's great quality, service, and price.
