False advertising - deceptive returns policy

I recently purchased a dress from Anna and Dean (Sydney). As soon as I opened the dress I didn’t like the feel of the fabric at all, it is a poor quality polyester, not what I was expecting at all. This company is sneaky, they describe the fabric as a soft flowing fabric using creative photography showing a silk-like fabric. It is far from it. I have since found the exact dress on another more honest company website, advertised as polyester. I would have never purchased a polyester dress if I had known and this is a warning to others, do your own research. On receipt of this dress, I contacted the company to commence a return and refund. Their own advertising states ‘We truly believe in the quality of our clothing - and we are confident you'll love it too. That's why we offer a hassle-free 30-day money-back guarantee’.
If you're not completely satisfied with your purchase, simply return it within 30 days and receive a full refund - no questions asked. You would think that was a good deal right? Wrong, it is not the case.
I have had back and forth from a person called Anna via email who tells me that she has reviewed my return and it is considered change of mind and as a goodwill gesture, we can offer you a a 50% store credit which you can use on any future purchase or a 30% full refund and I do not need to return the item. They have stated this is their final offer.

Neither of these options are suitable or fair so I’ve lodged a complaint to the Australian Consumers Commission. The company’s advertising is false and misleading. There doesn’t appear to be anywhere to leave a review either positive or negative but they do have some glowing positive reviews on their website. A quick search of each of those photos on the reviews, reveals that they are fictitious. If this turns out to be the case along with their misleading returns policy, Anna and Dean Sydney may find themselves with a significant fine from the ACCC.
The bottom line is that online shopping does not have to be this difficult. I have purchased numerous items online and never had to be concerned about retuning it. It’s unfortunate that some online companies do not do the right thing by Australian consumers.
