Not strong enough for strong dogs
In early July we bought an Ancol Viva travel harness and lead for our then 3-month old Dalmatian. After just one month, one of the straps was fraying badly, ready to snap, requiring an urgent repair.
I contacted Ancol, and after an exchange of emails they said they couldn’t offer a refund, contact the retailer, but they did then agree to send a new replacement. Our dog is very strong, so that wasn’t going to be used by us. The retailer was happy to give a refund, but said their wholesaler wouldn’t give them a replacement or refund, so I was glad I could give the retailer the replacement harness so that, once sold, they wouldn’t be out of pocket.
The lead is fine, the harness is I think ok for a less boisterous dog than ours, it depends on the breed and your dog.
It worked out ok in the end, but after quite a lot of hassle and concern. My now 5-month old dog is now safely on our old Hunter side-by-side training harness, plus a rope lead for added safety (yes, two leads). When he’s big enough I will be using a custom leather harness, collar and lead made by Louise Gelson (LG Leatherworks) for our previous Dalmatian.
