Absolutely terrible customer service

Absolutely terrible customer service. All I wanted was an address to send and escrow refund to and after 4 transfers and being hung up on and having to call back, I'm still on hold and cannot get an answer.

PLEASE READ AND STAY AWAY!!

Please stay away from this company. This is the absolute worst company I have ever had to work with. 6 months of repeatedly false stories and narratives.

After the 1st year with AmeriHome, my mortgage was being raised by $600 a month for the same reason Britney said in her review below, to cover changes in Escrow amounts due to insurance - and so I had no choice but to be forced into a refinance (staying with Amerihome) so that if I was lucky my rate would only go up $60 a month. Throughout the process, the disclosure amount changed drastically about 5 different times. After every time I talked to them I got a new disclosure and a new amount. The cost started at around $2000, at one point got up to almost $9000, back to $4000-$5000, then the night before their notary showed up (who had to reschedule and push it back a day), they sent me a new disclosure AFTER THE NOTARY WAS SCHEDULED and added another quick $600 to closing costs.

Nothing that we discussed ever ended up happening. I could never get my questions answered, then when asked why there are so many changes they blamed me for taking too long when I was the one having to call and try to follow up every day. Another loan officer even had to be assigned to the case.

Before the re-finance I was enrolled in budget drafting which requires you to pay a full month ahead of time, on top of your upcoming month. THEY told me to turn it off, and I didn't want to do it unless the assured me I wouldn't have to pay again to turn it back on. Throughout the entire refinance, every time I spoke to someone I made sure that my budget drafting would roll over because it was going to be a huge financial hardship for me if after the refinance I would have to pay another full 2 months of mortgage up front AGAIN just to stay enrolled WITH THE SAME COMPANY. Finally the new loan officer assured me that I would not have to, that it would roll over, and the new loan would start at the budget drafting rate just like it was before. I made a huge deal about it through the whole process to get the confirmed. But just like every other time, after everything was signed and done, that story completely changed, and I now I am stuck having to re-pay the 2 full months upfront just to stay enrolled in my budget drafting.

So now here I am having to pay another almost $7000 on top of the over $5000 I paid for the refinance, just to get back to worse than where I was, paying $60 more a month. I thought budget drafting was supposed to be a program to help people?

Their response to this was "Sorry if we didn't fully understand the process, I understand your frustration but this is the process". Every time THEY have messed up, I have gotten stuck paying thousands.

Please stay away or you will repeatedly find yourself suddenly forced into financial hardships.

READ BEFORE CONDUCTING BUSINESS.

Amerihome has caused nothing but issues and financial distress to our family. They sold our loan without advisement, they paid our cancelled insurance policy and the new one. Then tried to increase our mortgage payment to cover the differential in the escrow account. All the while placing the blame on our initial insurance company. This is not the way to do business. The staff is always rude and doesn’t want to help rectify their mistakes. Just penalize the homeowner. Refinance will be a future option just to leave this company. Awful service from day one. Check the BBB website for validation as we are not the only household having these issues.

Brandi Clements has been our loan…

Brandi Clements has been our loan processor and we have had an amazing experience so far. She has been so communicative, hard-working, and helped us ReFi our home in such a painless way! Going into this, I was intimidated and scared by the process, but immediately I was relieved once Brandi started working with us!

Thank you so much :)

Formal Complaint Regarding Loss…

Formal Complaint Regarding Loss Mitigation Assistance Process
Dear Loss Mitigation Team,

My name is Shashana Washington, and I am writing to express my deep disappointment and frustration with the loss mitigation process at AmeriHome. I was sick due to a on job illness I contact loss mitigation in Feberury 2024 and promptly applied for assistance through your department, following all the necessary steps and providing the requested information. However, my application was accepted and i made payment but was told the money was on hold until I called and apply the payment. This was not communcated to me and now the loan payment went up and I have serveral payment behind and affecting my credit report negatively. I was trying to get a refinance. I contacted your company to explain what have and was told it was gong to be correct but never happen.

This decision feels not only unfair but also highly disheartening. AmeriHome’s process seems to penalize proactive customers like me who are trying to prevent financial hardship before it worsens. Being told that I must allow my account to become delinquent or endure a negative credit report for two months before receiving assistance is extremely concerning. I approached AmeriHome early to avoid such outcomes and to create space for financial recovery after my illness.

Additionally, the escrow refund was issue to me and I never received the check. I was informed it was mailed but never cashed, I call every week and was told to allow some time and now January 2025 the check was cashed and no information provide to me. This supportive approach made a significant difference in adding to my financial stress, and it is disappointing to see that AmeriHome does not offer options for customers facing hardships.

The additional stress caused by this process is immense, particularly when I am already managing the emotional and financial impacts of unemployment. To learn that your company offers no meaningful assistance for customers trying to act responsibly and proactively is deeply discouraging.

Your unfavorable policies not only fail to provide support during hardship but also risk alienating loyal customers. Despite my consistent payments and commitment to meeting my obligations, I have received no assistance. This lack of support will undoubtedly influence my decision to refinance my loan with another lender as soon as I am eligible.

I urge AmeriHome to reconsider its loss mitigation policies to better support customers who are facing temporary hardships. Assistance programs should aim to help individuals maintain their financial stability, not force them into delinquency before offering help.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your prompt response.

Sincerely,
Shashana Washington

I am a first time home buyer

I am a first time home buyer. So I'm never sure if I am doing things correctly or research so deeply in rabbit holes that make my head spin. With AmeriHome being the mortgage company that I got, they have always answered my questions no matter how small.
I've been in my home for a year now, and I received a call from a loan officer named Sean. He walked me through the possibility of a lower interest and payments. He was kind, professional and above all, no matter how many questions, or how many times I asked to run through the process with me, he was patient. This is a big thing, especially since this has to do with money and your home. Right?
Between him and the team at AmeriHome Mortgage I felt secure in refinancing with them. I am looking forward to working with them in the future. Thank you so much for all your help! Y'all are amazing!

Formal Complaint Regarding Loss Mitigation Assistance Process

Dear Loss Mitigation Team,

My name is Akea Collins, and I am writing to express my deep disappointment and frustration with the loss mitigation process at AmeriHome. I was laid off from my job in September 2024 and promptly applied for assistance through your department, following all the necessary steps and providing the requested information. However, my application was declined because my loan is not in arrears or negative.

I approached AmeriHome early to avoid such outcomes and to create space for financial recovery after my layoff.

Additionally, the requirement to make a client go back through underwriting for assistance is unreasonable. I previously held a mortgage with Navy Federal, and when I retired, they allowed me to defer payments for two months while I re-entered the workforce. This supportive approach made a significant difference in reducing my financial stress, and it is disappointing to see that AmeriHome does not offer similar options for customers facing hardships.

Sincerely,

Akea Collins

Customer service and management of…escrow

Customer service and management of escrow account, has been counterproductive to a fair and decent customer service experience. Attempting to fix issues with escrow allocations and missed tax payments, which caused penalties and interest. We secured a representative to handle this account with assurance from Ryan, your customer SVC rep. Then when I gathered the required info, they denied representative to handle this issue. How frustrating. NOW I need to follow a long involved process, while penalties, et al, are mounding up! Curses!

Sold my mortgage, here's my experience

Not exactly a terrible company for the website and takes payments easily. However! Any type of communication with staff members or with the call to anything itself, trash. So much my dog over filled its corner office. I was on a call where a representative was working from home and had screaming kids in her headset. Got it, working from home which i don't blame her. I asked her to put the kids in another room because I was upset at this time due to making a double payment where I can set up partial (bi weekly payments through them) and wouldn't honor it because I "paid"outside of their scope for such. And said "I'm about to use bad language, please remove your kids so I can do so appropriately"(roughly it happened a year ago). They basically hung up on me telling me I'll get a call back, never did. So I set up an allotment through my work! As soon as I set up an allotment! They sold my mortgage to another company! Before 2 years! Tanking my credit score! So screw this company, I hope they call me. Or remove this post which will be screen shot. And hopefully I get answers. Which will be "oh sorry we fell that way but we did it due to hard times and so and such" we all know you well mortgages to another bank because you're losing revenue when people over pay each month, which i was. That's crazy. Also I got a notice 4 or 5 November (maybe lost in the mail) on the last day they told me my mortgage was sold.. which allegedly they said was sent it 2 weeks prior, and 1 month prior to that where they technically sold my mortgage because I can see the transaction! So I think it's a terrible company. The website and app are really good though, only positive thing.

His client-oriented service is unmatched. As a first-time home buyer, I had a steep learning curve and David supported me every step of the way. Absolutely the best.

Absolutely the best.
Jeff Evans was my Sr. Loan Officer and guided me through the process, explained any changes as they happened, and took several calls from me when I got nervous.
Tricia Dodge Carlile was the Sr. Loan Processor, and I have never had a closing go so smoothly with everything she said happening in the timeframe stated.
I highly recommend AmeriHome Mortgage.

Do NOT use this company

Where to start, my loan got sold to this company and ever since then I have had nothing but issues. They will raise your payment prices over 600 dollars and have no explanation why if you can even talk to anyone. They will continuously claim they "never received" any paperwork you send into them putting you in this never ending loop. The customer service is a joke because all they do is read off their little script and put no effort into doing anything helpful. They will take your payments and put them elsewhere so when you get your next statement and it shows your payment was late they tell you they don't know. This company is nothing but a money hungry scam and needs to just be shut down.

POOR SERVICE

I have been with a lot of loan servicers over the years. My mortgage got sold to these people. I have my first property tax bill on my new home due Sept 16. I got an email from AmeriHome July 15 stating they would be reaching out (I assume to the town) to verify the amount of the tax, and they would pay it. Stated to be patient as the processing can take several weeks. The escrowed amount estimated in my portal for August 2024 disappeared, but nothing ever came out of my escrow. I contacted them through secure chat and their virtual chat. I scanned my property tax bill to them. Suddenly they are putting in a "work order" to look into the "updated amounts". I thought they would have done this already when they supposedly reached out to my township. I asked when my tax bill would be paid via their virtual chat, and the person ended the chat, never answering my question. I attempted the secure chat and asked when my taxes would be paid and was told once the work order was completed. I asked when that would be since I was told it could take several weeks for everything to process. I was told to defer to the virtual chat, who then ended my chat again without letting me know when my taxes would be paid. We are a month in to this process and there are three weeks remaining before my property tax deadline. I have NEVER had any issue like this with any other loan servicer. I would think there is something about this process not legal. I have the money in the escrow but they don't seem organized enough to even verify the correct amount, let alone pay it. I would have paid it by now if I didn't have to deal with these morons. I tried to report them to the BBB but I keep getting a "500 error" which makes me think I'm not the first one to try to do this. They need to be reported as they cannot just ignore people and not make payments.
