Non existing support for Spanish AMEX usefa

I have attempted to contact American Express Spain customer support for two months however, their line remains unavailable, and the message displayed is, "Due to technical issues, not available." Is it feasible for the entire country to have their telephone support shut down in such a manner? Furthermore, what is the rationale behind not redirecting support calls to another country to assist Spanish customers?

Worst customer service ever!

Worst customer service ever!! They delete my online account but don’t tell me. I try to access the account and find I cannot - worrying! It takes me most of the afternoon to find out what has happened and then more time to set up a new account. I complain. The response is: they had to delete my account but can’t tell my why! They don’t notify customers when they delete their accounts. All this is within their procedures so is perfectly acceptable. They are not interested in my feedback and cannot challenge the complaint - I can only refer it to the Financial Ombudsman. Shocking disregard for the customer experience, worry and time wastage. Just a wooden bureaucratic response - “we are right”!

Crazy verification process

Just had an email to verify the supplementary cardholder. I cannot believe how complicated this process is. We've spent half an hour trying to sort this. We also need to provide a passport/drivers license to support this. I've never had to go through this ridiculous process with any other card provider! Mental.

Services downgrades

Higher fees, downgraded perks, and awful customer service. Amex switched my hotel to one three times more expensive after their mistake and then refused to honor the compensation they promised.

Amex is going downhill fast

This company has gone way down hill. I’ve been a member for about 14 years. They no longer put the customer first but the vendors. They will only reimburse you $1,000 for defective merchandise. So why would I buy anything more expensive on my AMEX card especially when they charge $695 per year for a Platinum card. Their policies do not protect the customer adequately and I will start using them much less and utilize other cards. Corporate greed is apparent.
Their $1k Assurance policy is very onerous by design as they obviously want to make it very difficult for you to get a refund

Bread Cashback Con

I accepted an offer via Bread Cashback / Comenity Capital Bank via American Express of a $200 cash back after spending $1000 in 90 days which I did. They told me after 2 billing cycles I would receive the offer. Now they say I didn't accept the offer correctly via an online issue and now have rescinded the offer. I have since paid off the balance and requested the account be closed. They are con artists to get people to sign up and spend money on the card and then not honor the offer.

The absolut worst branch of American…

The absolut worst branch of American Express ever. They have, even for being in Spain, the worst customer aquisition service ever. I really really tried to become a costumer. But their system cant read certifcates from Caixa Bank, one of the bigger banks in Spain, and they cant find a solution for it. I have been an Amex Platinum client in another country since 12 years, but the spannish bransch completely ruined that and will also quit my other cards in the other countries. So, don't waste your time on this scam company.

Lots of false offers

Lots of false offers

Multiple times now, I have been duped by American Express platinum offers. Latest being the referral bonus program. Amex offers points for referrals. I triggered one recently and my friend got a new card. But Amex didn’t give me the points and when I reached out they said they don’t see the referral in their system. They will ‘investigate’ whether it met all the criteria.

Everything is loaded with fine prints and they rely on people being busy and not paying attention

AMEX Business Platinum 8y confidence broke in a second

I was a satisfied, even proud, client of AMEX Business Gold first Platinum later, for about 8 years, with total confidence in AMEX services and bullet-proof coverage both for my business and personal trips, expending dozen thousand euros every year, not only in commerce but AMEX trip services. Had no more than three easy claims in this time, all of them solved and covered by commerces. I have had an incident with a scammer taxi driver in my last flight to NY and same day as soon as I dicovered the amount charged was diferent from amount showed in screen by over 100 usd called inmediatly to AMEX. From the begining everything was clear, airport taxi fares are quite well known in NY, even sent the reverse limo trip receipt as reference. All fine. Two months later I received a postal from AMEX admiting that was true that smaccer driver charged that amount but unfortunately they refuse to clain the overcharged amount. No questions no explanation. I called AMEX platinum service inmediatly to reopen the claim, but asking for new documentation. Shocked, I decided to quit inmediatly, if I can't trust this 'bullet-proof' coverage for a clear scam what can I trust from AMEX? three days later, no calls from my platinum agent, no interest in what happendend, why I decided to quit or nothing. Clearly AMEX has no interest at all and that is what they make me feel like. Simply unaceptable.

Rubbish at fraud resolution

I recently had a frustrating experience with Avis Budget and American Express. Despite explicitly declining extra insurance during booking, Avis added premium insurance to my rental agreement without my knowledge. They charged me 504 euros for this insurance, plus a 14-pound Amex fee, two weeks after the rental.

I disputed the charge with American Express, arguing that it was a fraudulent practice because I wasn't asked to chip and pin the charge and was not made aware of it by agent. The company, however, sided with Avis, stating that my signature on the agreement confirmed my acceptance of the additional charges.

I am extremely disappointed with American Express's handling of this matter. Their refusal to refund my money and their imposition of additional fees suggest a lack of customer protection. As a result, I am canceling my American Express card and will be sharing my experience with others.

50% increase in merchant fees by Amex. Greed+

Amex has jacked up their merchant fees by 50% and now charging over 3% while Qantas frequent flyer points remain at only 1.25 points per dollar. No more value. Amex is getting greedy. We as cardholders get this passed through to us.

Going down hill

Going down hill, rapidly. I used to be a huge AMEX fan, but not anymore. Not only are less and less places taking it, they are telling me because of my credit score (which is 899 out of 1000) I am not eligible to take part in the referral scheme, meaning I am missing out on lots of points. WHY can they pick and choose who can benefit from this scheme.

Comenzando con el pie izquierdo: Información inconsistente y oportunidades perdidas

=== SPANISH

My initial engagement with American Express España has left me feeling disheartened, as it's clear that our relationship hasn't begun on the best footing. After applying for an AMEX Gold card to utilize its travel insurance for an upcoming trip to Japan, I encountered several challenges that have soured my experience with the company.

Despite patiently awaiting updates on my application status, I was met with silence. Upon reaching out to their customer service department for clarification, I was initially informed over the phone that my application had been denied. This led me to make significant travel arrangements, including purchasing flight tickets totaling 1300EUR, under the assumption that I wouldn't have access to the card benefits.

However, a sudden email notification arrived, contradicting the information provided during the phone call, confirming the approval of my AMEX Gold card application. This turn of events not only caught me off guard but also left me in a precarious position, having already made financial commitments under the impression that I wouldn't benefit from the card's perks.

This discrepancy in information between the phone call and the subsequent email confirmation has left me questioning the reliability of American Express España's customer care. Moreover, it has complicated my ability to fulfill the spending requirement to obtain the welcome bonus, which is crucial for me as I start my journey with their services.

As a result, I've been hesitant to purchase separate insurance to cover my trip, as I had initially relied on the AMEX Gold card's travel insurance. This uncertainty adds further stress and inconvenience to an already challenging situation.

I've filed a formal complaint regarding this matter and am eagerly awaiting their feedback. In conclusion, while my relationship with American Express España has yet to properly commence, the series of challenges I've encountered from the outset have left me feeling disheartened. I hope that the company takes swift action to address these issues and ensure a smoother experience for future customers.

Not a professional credit card

I applied for a Melia card and spent a lot of time filling out all the details and uploading passport copies and bank documents, just for American Express to lose everything in their Engage360 platform. They called me, explaining that we had to redo the entire application process, and that would probably have been all-right if it was the first time, but it was exactly the same when I applied for my Amex Gold and later Amex Platinum. This time, the person on the phone was so rude that he disconnected the call when I lost my patience. Not a professional credit card service. Sorry, but 0 stars!

So I tried to apply for an Amex Platinum card...

- English -
So I tried to apply for an Amex Platinum card (unfortunately, I don't speak Spanish fluently yet) and haven't been able to get the relevant assistance when calling them. Tried calling their number 10 times maybe, and I get transfered and the call eventually ends or I get to speak to someone for a few minutes, and get transfered again and then call ends.
Considering the price of the card and the supposedly high level of service, that doesn't bode well. Reading the very bad reviews here, I'll look for another credit card provider.
