Avoid!
Purchased a car from here and had nothing but problems from the very start.
The TPMS light came on after leaving dealership and was told that I should have spotted this problem on the test drive although the problem only arose when going at high speeds.
They were reluctant to sort this but eventually had a look at it and ‘sorted’ the problem.
The fault kept on coming on which is an MOT fail (They kept saying it wasn’t) and I was made to feel like I should expect this to happen when buying a second-hand car. I was also constantly reminded that there was a queue of people waiting for this car and that I shouldn’t be so awkward about the faults with it.
There was also a metal on metal scraping sound from one of the wheels and I felt that this was a concern.
I phoned the dealership after no response from my earlier email and was threatened with a refund because other people were waiting for the car (Specifically giving me their location). I then said what is the process for a refund and he backtracked and said they have to have an independent inspection to validate the refund. That’s why I use the term ‘threatened’.
This phone call made me feel really uncomfortable and I was shaking due to the accusative way the man spoke to me.
Upon sending an email to them I had reply from the Director of the company stating that she would get everything sorted for me and that I was booked in.
I took my car in to be looked at and left if with them for two days, I waited patiently for them to call me.
After no phone calls I phoned them and was then called back by a very agitated member of the team who I can only describe as aggressive, who told me that they were taking a while because they were seeing if they could just give me a refund as I had been causing them problems.
Bearing in mind that I had already paid for this car, I was really confused that they thought they had the power to essentially seize my car.
Once again, I asked about the process for refunding and again clearly it was another flippant threat as I was then told that they would need to get an independent inspection (he said the director told him). This was to be covered by myself at a price of £240 and this would take up to 4 weeks, leaving me without a car.
In the end I decided I wanted to collect my car and when I went to pick the car up, I had the same member of staff make accusative comments regarding my integrity and I was told that he said to other members of staff from the start that they shouldn’t have sold the car to me as they knew I would be trouble. Really unprofessional and uncalled for in my opinion.
I don’t say this lightly, I would never dream of speaking to a member of the public in or out of the workplace the way I was spoken to and I believe that this ruined what could have been a pleasurable purchasing experience. I wont name names but they will know who they are.
Since all of this I had an email from the AA stating that my warranty was no longer valid due to the dealership not paying them.
When I enquired about this, I was told that the dealership was switching warranty providers.
I was told that I could have a refund and to send my bank details and proof of the money I paid (In their office). After multiple emails I have now received confirmation of my new warranty policy with someone else. This was a contract that I signed for and entered into with the AA. I’m not even sure if such an action is legal.
I now have a car with two fault that the director assured me would be sorted.
There are many car dealers out there and I would advise people to take the other ‘reviews’ with a pinch of salt as they all have similar themes and it is my opinion that some of them seem too good to be true. Again, that is MY opinion. There are many instances on facebook I have seen which counteract these reviews. Just be mindful and take a mechanic with you.
