Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 105 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many consumers reported extreme difficulties with the entire claims process, describing it as an absolute nightmare or a disaster. A prevalence of dissatisfaction centered on lengthy delays, requiring reviewers to make numerous follow-up calls just to track when a payment would arrive. Conversely, a small portion of people felt that certain aspects were positive, such as finding staff helpful and experiencing quick claim authorizations. Some individuals noted relief when refunds were processed swiftly, or when support interactions were found to be sympathetic during difficult situations. However, some people also mentioned that denials or insufficient compensation occurred even when specific documentation or crises were declared.

It took three attempts to lodge our claim, each time with minimal to non communication regarding the problems with lodging the claim. Finally after one month our claim was approved but in spite of the correct bank account details on our claim, they used an incorrect Bank number hence the payment failed. After waiting 7 days a phone call from me discovered the problem and I advised them of their mistake. I was assured that payment would take place within 2 to 3 days. 5 days later i was advised the
further delay was due to the weekend falling within the 5 day period. I was advised that once approval was given the payment would once again take place this time within 3 to 4 days. Hence it took an approval to happen after each communication (3 times) before anything could take place in spit of approval being given with their first attempt to pay the money. Communication was made even more difficult with their use of a call centre populated by people who had English as a second language requiring multiple requests for conversation to be repeated until I understood what was being said by the operator.

Rapid claims authorisation and great staff

I had a really positive experience with Allianz travel insurance through my packaged bank account with Lloyds. Phone call was answered promptly, staff were very helpful and my claim was authorised in under 24 hours. I couldn't have asked for better.

Disappointed with whole claims…

Disappointed with whole claims experience! Allianz, the insurance company were not helpful at all. I thought insurance policy are put in place to help in difficult situations, not the case in my experience, the insurance company used loophole to not cover an emergency travel situation when both my wife and young daughter were ill and needed to travel back to UK. Very disappointed, they will find a way not to cover your claim.

Allianz insurance are useless

Allianz insurance are useless. Have spent weeks trying to claim on travel insurance taken out via Eurostar.
There is no point in phoning as they never answer.
No point in writing either.

Poor service and lack of transparency

I tried to upgrade my daughter's existing cover for a new (and common) additional diagnosis. It got rejected through the online system. I phoned the team to ask questions but essentially got a 'computer says no' answer with no explanation. No questions. No evidence. And no information I can use to help me get additional insurance elsewhere. This service is meant to be a benefit on my expensive bank account and not a hinderance. We have never even made an insurance claim before. The only way I can cancel my cover is to cancel my bank account - so I'll be doing that!

Horrendous experience with this…

Horrendous experience with this company. Save your money and avoid them.

Me and my (pregnant) partner were due to fly from Milos to Crete, Chania, when our flight was cancelled.

We were left stranded on the island.

The only way to reach Crete was to travel overnight via ferry into Heraklion, before having to arrange for a taxi to take us to our hotel in Chania.

Due to the cancelled flight, we missed one of our nights at our hotel.

We had to pay for food, the overnight ferry, the taxi to our hotel, and Allianz haven't refunded a penny back to us. They wouldn't even cover the one night hotel that we missed.

They've referred me to section 3 of their policy, saying that they do not cover travel disruption??? lol.

I've only left 1 star, as I couldn't leave 0.

Very fast payout for large claim

My claim for many thousands of dollars was settled within a couple of weeks. There were no queries from them so perhaps it pays to make sure all your documentation is submitted correctly!

Utterly useless took over from tesco…

Utterly useless took over from tesco insurance.
I fell and sprained my ankle badly x-rayed twice at A +E they thought it was broken , badly bruised the other ankle 10mls of morphine, crutches an air boot given ,I was wheelchaired out to my daughters car as I couldn't stand.
Letter from hospital. It was Sunday . I was told I wouldn't be paid as my doctor couldn't write on a form that he advised me not to go,even though I got in touch with my gp surgery asap, my gp was on holiday for 2 weeks The consultant at A+E, said if I went there was a small increased risk of a DVT happening, both my mother and sister both had embolism .I live in Devon would of had to get the train to London, not being able to stand, pull my luggage etc ,then the rest is obvious. Was going to marrakesh for a few days .Never again wish I'd seen the reviews but I wasn't told at the time that tesco were transferring to Allianz!
Sincerely I do not recommend!!

Worst Insurance company claim insurance…

Worst Insurance company claim insurance Ive ever had, Indian call centre so line was bad and English poor. Call’s kept being put around the office in circles, they Finaly payed out but only 1/2 the agreed amount. A month later and dozens of attempted calls they paid the second 1/2 with no comment…dodgy. They also use pre programmed background noise to frustrate you to make you give up (I recorded these and played them back…exactly the same coffing and people chatting each time). NEVER USE ALLIANZ

Absolutely awful.

Absolutely awful.
They refuse to pay a penny due to our flight being cancelled! I will NEVER use this insurance again!
In this case it would be considered as a minor incident…. I shudder at the thought in the event of an emergency medical situation!

I received a very positive experience…

I received a very positive experience compared to the reviewers below. After booking a trip to Spain and undergoing a sudden medical emergency, I was forced to cancel my trip and nearly lost £800. I provided all the necessary documentation to Allianz, and in just over a week after submitting the claim, they reimbursed me with a full payout (minus the small excess).

People are quick to post bad experiences and the good ones are often missed which is why I'm posting mine! Thanks Allianz!

Utterly useless

Utterly useless. They rejected my Ticketmaster claim for concert tickets and then never ever answer the phone. I don't think decent large companies should use this poor insurance company which just seems like a scam to get your money and not honour the insurance. Rubbish!!! Shame on you!

Very poor company

Very poor company, I was recently visiting the Dominican Republic for a 21 night vacation, first few nights I was sick with a fever long story short my medical bill was $240 Allianz had taken literally half of it for the excess, the only good thing I can say is that they paid the claim out in 14 days, but yeah there are a lot better companies to do your travel insurance through ones that don’t take half your money in excess.

Run, don’t walk, far far away from this company

I have traveled a lot in my life and used various travel insurance companies’ services, but NEVER has any other company refused to reimburse very basic medical costs. On their website, there is no option to even make a claim for medical expenses even though they were obviously included in my plan. I called their customer service to ask about it, and the woman on the phone hung up on me. Once I finally managed to send in my claim, they refused to reimburse the medical costs. So yeah, do yourself a favor and get an insurance from a company that actually does what they’re supposed to do.

Shocking.

Shocking.. Do not use. Had a SNCF train booked but just happened to check at around 6am the morning our train was booked leaving Caen to Rouen and the email stated our intended departure from the Rouen return was cancelled due to metereriological issues at the station. We knew that there had been storms the previous afternoon in the area so didn't want to risk going and not been able to return.. Informed this insurer and after well over a week received a reply stating that this insurance didn't meet the requirements for reimbursement. I had provided the necessary proof. I since requested a reason for this refusel but nothing heard to date. No doubt another excuse from this negative review provider...

The source of the fraud is Allianz.

The source of the fraud is Allianz.
After a year and ten months of stress, the fraudsters ask for one thing, and when you prove it, they come up with another loophole until you pay the highest percentage of the monthly subscription. Then they tell you that the police report doesn't match the company's policy. So, I advise you to end your subscription with this fraudulent company. You won't regret it.
