Disappointing Stay, Misleading Listing, and Poor Guest Treatment
I had a very disappointing experience booking with Algeria Guest via Airbnb. The listing description did not reflect the actual conditions of the property. It was described as being on one level, but in reality, we had to climb over 40 steps to exit a serious issue for my elderly mother, who has mobility problems.
The swimming pool was dirty and remained unusable throughout the stay even after it was supposedly cleaned, it still contained visible mold and debris. On the second day, we were left without gas, which meant no hot water or ability to cook for an entire night. Several kitchen appliances were either broken or appeared unsafe. Communication from the host during this time was very limited.
I submitted videos and photos to Airbnb, who reviewed the situation and issued a partial refund, acknowledging the issues.
Following my complaint, the host submitted a damage claim against me. Airbnb reviewed the claim, found it unsubstantiated, and closed the case in my favour confirming that I was not responsible for any damage.
After over 8 years of positive experiences using Airbnb, this was by far the most stressful. I’m sharing this to help future guests make an informed choice.
