It was disappointing to find how poorly its founder, Al, was able to apply REBT to a challenging situation in his life. When Al's self-chosen successor didn't meet Al's expectations (i.e., demands), Al let an interviewer know that he thought his successor should be in a permanent state of non-feeling multiple times in succession. Al was disappointed even though his successor appeared to be following Al's advice in his "Executive Leadership" book. Since Al failed to rationally apply REBT in his own life, I find it tough to expect his treatment modality to be helpful for a layperson.
