Alamy is one of the best sites for selling digital asset stocks. I am proud to be part of one of the sellers at Alamy.com
Be careful
Be careful. Scam artists.
They are in business of claiming any pics you have on website. Bunch of losers trying it on
Follow up from a previous review
Follow up from a previous review. Alamy tried to move out of the local jurisdiction and avoid out consumer protection laws, when pushed on this they firstly tried to reduce the "fee" and have gone very quiet since.
Fraudulent advertising from Alamy! Do not buy from them!
Bought a 'stock image' of Avatar (from the first movie). It was automatically downloaded as a compressed JPEG file even when I hit the 'high res' option. There was no option to download the supposedly high res 5.8MB file. I contacted customer service and they suggested I used photoshop to 'blow up' the compressed file as a TIFF. Then I told them this was crap, and they gave me some BS about 'protecting the distributor/creator'. What??!! This is a fraudulent company and should be brought to the attention of the OFT etc. I'm going to do exactly that!
Sh!ty as hell
Get rid of the stupid watermarks! I'm not paying for a fncking image!
Very poor service
Very poor service. We have have spent a small fortune with them business wise which I’ve now abruptly ended. However, on this occasion I purchased one photo personally for a hobby. The quality was sub par. I asked for a refund and was hit with a barrage of excuses and T’s & C’s which did not justify the reason for not refunding. They stated the photo in question had a disclaimer saying that it was historic and may contain imperfections. There are NO imperfections, the entire photo is of poor quality overall and not useable. Not 300dpi quality as expected.

The worst and most overpriced stock…
The worst and most overpriced stock photo agency on the market. Their licences are not straightforward (on purpose) at all. Wouldn't recommend them to anyone.
a real swindle
I purchased an image from the Alamy site, which they sell as HQ. Once downloaded, it turned out to be of very poor quality, truly embarrassing. There are dozens of reproductions of the same image (a XVIII century paiting) online, downloadable for free, of much better quality. If I pay €11.39 for a single photo I obviously expect it to be of high quality, as advertised by the site. I wrote to customer service several times but they replied that they don't refund. A shameful experience. Avoid them.
Alamy is a scam
Alamy is a scam. They don't own the rights to the photos they sell. Most are public domain. Yet they try to get those same photos taken down around the internet. It's not just a scam, it's a malicious grifter operation 100% designed to swindle people out of their money.
Do not waste your time contributing to…
Do not waste your time contributing to Alamy. It used to be a fair 50/50 split, that has now changed to 80/20 to them and you get stuck in this split zone, it is nearly impossible to go up to a 60/40 split. The prices that they sell the stock for is so low you end up with nothing for your time and effort. I have sold quite a few images the past few years but am closing my account, they now are the only people making any money on my efforts and I'm unimpressed. I might add, I spent a month living in West Africa during the ebola crisis - with all the dangers that involves, and the images that they sell from that are sold at the same price of a picture of a bag of chips at a UK seaside.

Latest images rejected as "soft and lacking definition".
The same images were immediately accepted by 2 other reputable photographic agencies and a calendar printer ! ! ! ? ? ?
If you don't set up an Alamy account it is difficult to download the photos.
Ordered two different historical photos for a family research project on November 22. I did receive the invoices as an attachment, but no instructions on how to download the photos. All I was able to do was download the invoices.
I did try setting up an online account with Alamy on November 25 with some difficulty. It took half a dozen tries before I was finally able to creat an account from the customer service link they sent me. I think the problem was (1) that I did not set up an account before ordering, and (2) I did not download the files upon ordering because I thought they were attached to the order confirmation.
Quality Control are complete lazy…
Quality Control are complete lazy bunch, the refuse to review if you upload more than 10 images a day or 20 a week with akward explanation. You get paid only 10% and only after you sold your content for £500. This is abuse to photographers and artists. Management needs to be changed there fundamentaly.
Not recommended
You buy a photo of 18mb and you discover later on it s 1mb that you can resize on photoshop!!
I don't recommend.
DO NOT USE, AVOID
This business is a fraud, bought an image last year for £10. Used it on my website.
Got an email from their solicitors to say you don't have the licence to use that image on your website and to pay them £400 for breaking the agreement.
Its not clear on their website if you buy an image from them that you cant use it anywhere you like.
Surely trading standards need to be looking at this companies practices, they are clearly tricking the customers into buying a image and then sending them legal letters to get £400 out of them.
I would challenge this in court but due to limited time and to save myself from the negative energy and headache I just paid them the £400, but never ever again I would use them again.
If you really must use them, please please check before buying to see where and how you can use their images, otherwise they will send you a bill for £400.
Simple, clear and fast
Simple, clear and good price to find a image pack with extensive selection. great help from customer care team. Ideal for my creative project
Scam
How can I remove it from my portfolio / take it off sale?
“Go to Alamy Image Manager, optional, go right down to the bottom right and there is a delete button. The image stays on sale for 6 months though after marking for deletion.”
What a SCAM!!!
