Bad Solar Installation

Had a solar system installed on a new build property, dealing with company has been difficult. Had to pay most of money upfront before install happened then they were late. Havent been able to claim feed in tariff as paperwork not complete and company have charged me for an EPC that was wrong.

Came with a good recommendation but would not use again.

Dear Mr Webber Construction Director of Sussex Building Services Brighton.

We are extremely disappointed that you are unhappy with the service we provided
We take complaints very seriously and vigorously investigate them if they occur.
I have personally investigated this complaint as this is a rare occurrence.
Following my investigation my response is as follows:
We carried out a quotation for the installation of 1.99 kw solar pv system at Hythe Road, Brighton in March 2017.
As recommended by the microgeneration scheme and set clearly in our standard terms of acceptance for Solar PV works a deposit was required with the remainder due upon completion.
The original installation was scheduled but due to Construction delays was rescheduled. Unfortunately we were unable to meet the new proposed date due to scheduled works and annual leave. This resulted in a 2 week delay to our start which was further delayed by additional construction issues
I feel we did everthing we could to avoid ourselves delaying the project.

Ours standard terms also set out that you will need a valid EPC in order to commision and register your system for the feed in tariff. We do offer to assist with providing this as an additional service through a third party provider
On this occasion you ask ourselves to provide this for you and a standard EPC was requested. This was carried out and completed with the occupier in the property.
It was then found that this was a new build property property which requires a different grade of EPC and should be issued as part of the construction of the building.
This is carried out by the Main Contractor not the Solar PV Contractor.

I therefore feel that this complaint is unfair and unjust as our company has full filled all requests and obligations

For further information on your EPC obligations as a new build developer please see the below link

The system was installed as planned and as requested by yourself following the construction delays.
