TOTAL SCAM

TOTAL SCAM. Do not buy. We purchased travel insurance for a trip that was scheduled for August, while we were providing in home care for an elderly relative. The relative died ON THE DAY the trip was scheduled for, and even with the excessive documentation they requested, the denied the claim because we cancelled it 2 days before the date of the trip (when we knew my relative was about to die).

We filed a complaint with the Texas Attorney General, the Better Business Bureau, FTC.

We are also pursuing legal action due to additional distress created by this company.

DO NOT USE, THEYVE TAKEN MY MONEY BUT I HAVE NO POLICY

I tried to take out a travel policy with AIG through the Emirates Airline Website. My money went out of my account but I have had no policy. I have telephoned numerous times. First i was told i couldn't have the policy, so they would arrange a refund. No refund came, so i rang again. They asked if i wanted the policy, so i said yes. No policy came. I rang again and they said they would send it over, no policy came. This went on and on. I still have no policy and no refund. DO NOT USE. If i can't even get the policy through, i very much doubt they would be any good if i ever needed them. Plus they have stole my money.

AIG WORST INSURANCE EVER -Voluntary (PAI)Personal Accident Injury…

Have a Voluntary Personal Injury Accident Policy. Filed a claim for emergency injury with all medical documentation sent with proper forms filed. Has just been sitting "under review" for 4 months. Took 2 additional months just to get the correct form to file the claim. Absolutely nothing has been paid or reimbursed. All I got was a claim number, no adjuster contact ever, even after tons of phone and email messages. All I got was "under review" for months. This has been since 1/1/25 and it's 9/17/25 and still nothing. WORST INSURANCE COMPANY EVER. DON'T BELIEVE ANYONE WILL CONTACT YOU EVEN AFTER BEING SENT TO EXPEDITE CLAIM-MULTIPLE TIMES. THEY NEVER RESPOND, WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE, ZERO PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS OR WORK ETHICS. I WILL NEVER BUY THEIR INSURANCE AGAIN.

Quick to be paid to refund not sure how long will I wait . As all insurers avoid 👍🏻

So I won’t be borhered talking about claim being refused when my phone end up stolen. My bad did not turn on Find my IPhone on my brand new iphone 16 pro max. Setup done in a hurry due to fiancé moaning since early morning. Forgot to purchase Apple Care right away and wasn’t expecting a first in my life phone thief. End up making claim and obviously out of pocket paid a fee 109£ pounds. Claim rejected well over a week ago and money is still pending at my account, obviously after all I do need it to get a new device and truly they shouldn’t keep it for so long. This is a pure paranoia, called and emailed them no response. Yeah only one how sorry they do fell 😂😂 As a general service can’t say much luckily had a Monzo Max plan which cover any device up to 2k without even registering it. But if simple refund to victims of criminals cause so much issue I can bet the whole process ain’t be easy to, currently straggling to sort my device back with another provider if they all need details like how did I travel to the place of robbery In one word I can say that has nothing to do how did I get there , by chopper or in a battle tank 😎Simply obtain a CCTV record and stop stressing people with those not important question. When comes up to a thief what does matter is only place , proof of ownership that’s all. They all blood sucker .This is all I know, I think back
In time I actually was dealing with them claiming a tooth insurance, took not days or weeks … months since finally approved. But I am assessing AIG only over the terrible rerun waiting time, what they do I trust use ours money to operate with it ….Shame and injustice, paid imidiately but to refund they do have u deep every one knows where. Hope I won’t be forced to deal with them again ufff🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Put in a claim for cancelled flight. Collected all information and added it in during application process.

Responded a week or two later asking for the exact same information provided again.

Seems like an obvious strategy to be a pain so less people go through with claim. Even though I get free travel insurance with them I'll likely book and pay extra with a company that isn't dodgy in the future.

AIG is a scam

AIG is a scam. Not sure how it is legal. They ask for complex documentation, make you wait 10 days, then make you wait another 10 days if they need more documentation.
This is the worst insurance company in the world. I sadly did not read reviews prior to using. I must be a little slow, I have tried for a month and a half to get my refund and just keep getting more 7 to 10 day crap.

AIG is a scam

AIG is a scam. Not sure how it is legal. They ask for complex documentation, make you wait 10 days, then make you wait another 10 days if they need more documentation. They denied my claim due to a restriction that was mentioned deep in the fine print. I know it sounds nice to have "coverage" when purchasing a flight ticket, but it is a total scam. Don't waste your money.

They are a scam

They are a scam, all they do is keep asking for more information for your claim. They wait ten days then send you an email of needing more information. I can see I will never get my hotel money back. I wish they would be investigated to the full extent of law and made to pay back every bit of money they have scammed customers out of. I would give them NO stars.

Was stranded in Fort Lauderdale by Spirit Airlines. Had AIG insurance.

No Spirit Airlines customer service was in the airport and they even laughed at a group of us who were stranded.

After more than 5 hours of calling and messaging Spirit Airlines support, was advised by AIG that I could buy a new flight to get to my international destination.

AIG, through Alexis Guillory claims adjuster later denied all reimbursement for the missed connection, cancelled flight by Spirit Airlines, and expenses that were incurred during more than 2 days of unexpected travel to reach my original destination.

Going to court for the $800+ for new flight and $50/night hotel that AIG wont even begin to cover seems to be the only path forward.

AIG travel insurance is worthless!

I purchased travel insurance from AIG through Expedia for a girls trip 6/3 - 6/14. On 5/20 my husband had a medical diagnosis with immediate treatment which caused my travel to be cancelled. I submitted a claim with initial documentation on 5/23, pending doctor’s note.

Adjuster Ayinde Tarrant responded that he had received ‘all necessary documentation except the doctor's certification’. I followed up on 6/10 with the required doctor’s form.

Since then adjuster Ayinde Tarrant has continued to delay and ask for additional, unnecessary information.

I’ve called the AIG service number asked for his supervisor and been told that information is ‘unknown’. I’ve asked him to include his supervisor on his emails, he left me a voice mail explaining the system won’t allow him to add anyone on the emails.

The past THREE weeks he’s delayed saying he is ‘checking cancellation policy with third party’.

I’ve also contacted and complained to Expedia, the representative’s response was ‘I’ve worked here for two years and hear this all the time.’ No help.

I do not know how else to escalate. This is ridiculous. I bought an AIG policy in GOOD FAITH, and I expect to be paid for my valid claim.

All this aggravation at a time when our family is dealing with an critical medical condition.

If you are looking here proactively, steer clear of AIG and travel insurance from Expedia.

If you know of another avenue I can pursue, I’d appreciate your feedback.

I purchased AIG insurance prior to a vacation with my partner. Shortly before my trip I became unwell with the Norovirus (Gastro Virus). I was dully advised to remain at home and quarantine. In parallel, I cancelled our trip, which was very disappointing for both of us. Then comes the interesting part - the submission of a claim based on the in-ability to travel due to having a contagious virus... AIG response - my claim does not fit within their policy criteria! What a joke! So what AIG are saying is they would prefer I travelled and shared the virus with everyone on the plane, whilst ensuring I engaged the bathroom for the entire trip! MY ADVISE - STAY AWAY!

Delay! Deny! Defend! No Claim allowed! Only can pay AIG!!

Claim Department's role is to find all excuses not to approve your claim, any reason, one after another. So when you purchase a policy, you got yourself the opportunity to argue with AIG for months and end with a rejected claim. They only take money, does not give money, remember ya! (I think some insurance companies like UnitedHealth use AI to control rejection rates. There are KPIs for rejection rates) SO DO NOT BUY!

Formal Complaint Regarding Mishandling of Claim – UPS Capital Insurance Agency, CargoEdge - AIG, and InsureShield

I am submitting this formal complaint against UPS Capital Insurance Agency, and its affiliated partners, CargoEdge - AIG and InsureShield, due to the unacceptable handling of my insurance claim and the conduct of assigned adjuster Claims Representative, Paula Lomax.

Summary of Events:
• On May 13, 2025, Ms. Lomax requested a photo of the package with the tracking label. I submitted the requested images the same day.
• On May 19, she responded that the tracking label was unclear. I again complied with a new, clearer image that day.
• A full week passed without response. On May 26, I followed up professionally to ask about the status of the claim.
• On May 27, Ms. Lomax claimed the photo was taken before shipment, which contradicts the evidence submitted that clearly shows the label on the box as received by the customer.
• I raised concerns about her lack of phone communication and requested escalation to a supervisor due to the delay and seemingly circular nature of the correspondence.
• I followed up again on June 5, as no action or clarity had been provided.
• On June 6, Ms. Lomax reiterated her request for photos I had already submitted multiple times. I asked for clarification, not understanding what additional evidence she expected.

Issues and Concerns:
1. Deliberate Delay and Lack of Responsiveness
There were repeated week-long delays between responses, and phone calls to the contact number went unanswered. This lack of communication severely impacted the timeliness of the claim process.
2. Redundant Requests and Stonewalling Tactics
The same documentation was requested multiple times, even after being submitted, raising concerns about fair treatment and transparency.
3. Refusal to Escalate or Acknowledge Compliance
Despite multiple requests, no escalation or meaningful action has been taken to review the claim impartially.
4. Bad Faith Handling
These actions raise serious concerns about bad-faith practices in processing claims, which may warrant further legal and regulatory investigation.

Requested Actions:

I respectfully request:
• A formal review of this case by an impartial agency or representative.
• Immediate resolution and claim reimbursement, as the required documentation has already been submitted.
• Oversight of UPS Capital Insurance Agency and its affiliates for adherence to consumer protection and fair claims processing standards.

This has been an unreasonably burdensome process and reflects a troubling pattern of customer mistreatment. I am bringing this complaint to the attention of all appropriate oversight agencies and consumer protection platforms to ensure accountability and avoid similar treatment for future consumers.

Sincerely,
John Maldonado

Typical insurance co, always deny the claim.

Refused to payout on travel claim. Citing small print not mentioned in PDS. Scammers who won't ever be receiving my money when I travel Europe later this year, Japan next year or at any future time.
RACQ (Queensland car breakdown assistance scheme) have sold insurance arm of business to AIG so won't ever buy RACQ insurance.

My daughter was studying abroad last semester and had her new iPhone 16 Pro stolen in Rome, Italy. I gave her the phone for Christmas and purchased AppleCare+ theft and loss. AIG denied the claim on the grounds that FindMy was off. That is total b.s. and AIG is a bunch of crooks. I have been fighting this for over a month as of 5/23/25. I finally had to buy her another $1000 phone so she can get on with her life. The claim has been escalated twice and each time they add another 7-10 day wait for appeal. I am going to be up their asses until those bastards send me a phone! Stay away from AIG!!!

Extremely poor service and complete lack of communication.

I have been trying to reach Davy de Grave from AIG for weeks. I've called multiple times, left several messages, sent follow-up emails, and even had colleagues request a callback on my behalf—nothing. No response, no call back, not even an acknowledgment.

I also filed a formal complaint, but even that has been ignored. It's completely unacceptable for a company of this size to treat customers this way. If this is how AIG handles its clients, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere for your insurance needs.

AIG Travel (SCAM)

I want to warn you about AIG Travel Guard, the travel insurance promoted by Expedia. While Expedia is reliable for booking, its partnership with this fraudulent insurer is unacceptable and deeply concerning.

AIG Travel Guard operates as a legal scam. They promise coverage, but when customers file claims, they use vague policies, excessive paperwork, and unreasonable excuses to deny reimbursements. In most cases, travelers never see their money again. Their goal is to collect premiums while offering little to no actual protection.

Expedia is equally at fault. They continue selling this misleading insurance, knowing it fails to protect travelers. Instead of warning customers or offering better alternatives, they enable and profit from this deception. If Expedia truly cared about its users, it would stop promoting AIG Travel Guard and prioritize real protection.

Do not trust AIG Travel Guard, and be cautious when purchasing insurance through Expedia. Always review your airline and hotel’s cancellation policies before booking. Many reputable providers offer far more transparent and reliable coverage.

Don’t fall victim to this scam. Avoid AIG Travel Guard and demand accountability from Expedia for its unethical practices. Protect yourself and choose trustworthy travel insurance.
