Trip Booked: Ireland 3-City Dublin, Cork, Galway (7 days)
We had a wonderful trip however, we lost 2 days due to the weather in Ireland. (First blizzard since 1982) We were extremely shocked that we weren't permitted to have an extra day tacked on to end of our trip, even offered to pay for it and was denied. The first person we spoke to when our flight was cancelled was extremely rude. I wish I had gotten her name. She basically did everything she could to get us off the phone and out of her hair. The only reason the rating isn't lower is because of the second person we spoke to who found us a flight out of Miami the following day and who contacted the car rental company in Ireland, and went above and beyond to make sure the remainder of our trip was memorable.
Once in Ireland, the hotels were clean, and well kept, the car rental was nice, and the experiences were memorable. We've fallen in love with the country and can't wait to go back.
We feel cheated since we paid for a 7 day trip and only got a 5 day trip and had to cut out a lot of the site seeing we had planned because we just couldn't make it work. Feeling rushed was our overall sentiment, but we would book through Aer Lingus Vacation Store again, the weather is not something they could control.
Give them a shot, and we hope you fall in love with the country as hard as we did!

Trying to be fair - too much driving. Lodging adequate to nice but not elegant. Would much have preferred to stay in one spot several days to see more of what was to offer in those areas where we KNEW there were things to see. Last 2 night stay there wasn't even wifi that worked consistently so I could not connect with family. Even Edinburgh would have been fun 2 nights but the tour was sold as Highlands so I get it. Some places had little to nothing to do and we went out of season because we hate crowds so in my opinion places were understaffed and they even made mention of that fact. Waiters serving as porters and welcome people. I don't mind quiet and being on my own, in fact we love it hence going out of season but the Scots gave whole new meaning to frugal. We got scammed in Edinburgh by cabbies overcharging but some were lovely. Apparently different costs depending on which cabbie you get. Edinburgh parking impossible and construction abounds. Had to find car park because hotel had no parking and no one at hotel even mentioned we would get the horrific ticket we got first night in for parking across the street and we spoke with a policeman who was looking at our car. He never said a word. Signs 10 feet over our heads and we should have known better because we travel Europe but ticket dispenser was around the corner and not visible. I also think I got double charged for Hertz insurance because I felt sure I paid with vacation package (an extra $250+) but they said no, we needed more. "included" car ended costing additional over $500. $250 when package purchased an another $250 at desk in check in. Stirling castle and William Wallace monument worth the ride and cost. "Heritage Pass" which was "included" was only for summer and had expired despite our booking for winter months but the people at first stop remedied it and Rabbies tours were very accommodating in doing so. However if person at event on list had not pursued and contacted them directly we would have been left in the lurch.having to pay more. We knew Scotland was costly but I have buyers remorse. Hubby very much enjoyed distilleries and I did learn things so maybe it was a wash. If you don't fish/golf/drink scotch beware. Sight seeing would get an A however. As for the people, in all honesty I felt like many tolerated us. Most were accommodating with a smile but not really friendly or fun if that makes sense. All in all for the cost I would not do again. Scotland that is.
Struggled finding B&B's where we wanted to go, very disappointing!
Had a great time on the trip to Dublin, Castlebar, Limerick and Drogheda. The cities seemed random as they are not the typical spots to visit but they all had their own charm and brought us all over the country and close to many sites. Booking online was easy - able to add insurance and automatic car without issue.
We loved our trip to Ireland. Aer Lingus did a great job of lining up places to stay and see. And having a car included gave us the flexibility to explore on our own along the way and for a price way below other 'tours'. Just the way we like to travel!

I had booked a ticket to see an unwell relative nearing the end of their time with us. Unfortunately she passed away before my flight.
They asked to see the death certificate and then gave me a full refund immediately with a lovely message to boot.
They've ensured I'll only ever fly to Ireland or any other destination they service as an Aer Lingus passenger.
When you take everything into account they are also often cheaper than Ryan Air taking a sensible approach to luggage.
Customer is still king at Aer Lingus
In September I booked an 8 day tour of Ireland through the Aer Lingus Vacation Store. The total price included round trip airfare, 5 hotels, and a rental car for the duration of the trip. I always am nervous booking trips like this where so much depends on everything going smoothly. This trip exceeded my expectations in every way. Checking in was easy in the airport, rental car agency and each hotel. I always live in fear of booking something like this and then arriving and having no record of my booking. There were absolutely no hiccups. The Aer Lingus Vacation package was the easiest way I could imagine touring Ireland.
Nearly everything was seamless- From flights to booking our own B&Bs to staying in a castle! Aer Lingus really went above and beyond to make us happy. My only complaint would be that we drove around Dublin for an extra hour trying to find a place to park our car near the hotel- finally we found out we were suppose to park in a unidentified lot that belonged to the hotel next door. We were upset that this was not in the instructions given to us- while a lot of other instructions were given. It was our first time in Dublin and this left us with a bad first experience. Overall, we loved using Aer Lingus and will definitely be booking with this website again.
There were several Aer Lingus communication breakdowns and mishaps early on in our vacation and we reached out to Aer Lingus numerous times; but never received a response. It ended up turning into a nightmare and we would like the name of the vice president of customer service as well as the president of Aer Lingus,Hoping that they may listen or care so we can respond accordingly. I got a great deal online but when I went to book it I kept getting kicked out of the site, I had to call the vacation store and get someone to book it for me that way, even she was surprised I got such a good price.
I have had a bad experience with Dan Dooley car rental in the past, I was hesitant when I knew it was their car I was getting, but the girl at the desk was amazing and very good at her job and most helpful. My only problem is they gave me a car that the break pads were going in and I am still waiting 3 weeks later for a refund on the $ they made me pay for gas even though it was returned full. I will have to go out of my way to call them and get this back.
The food on the flight was nasty, there is no need to feed people on these flights with food that is so bad.
We booked a vacation package for Ireland and every element of the trip itself -- from airfare to car rental to hotels -- were above expectation. We had a great trip.
Our only frustrations were dealing with the Vacation Store website, which is separate from the Aer Lingus website. When it came time to check in for our flights on Aer Lingus, the tripcodes provided by the Vacation Store booking did not relate to anything registered on the Aer Lingus website, and there was no one at Aer Lingus who could (or wanted to) help. Integrating these two functions should be a priority for Aer Lingus so that other travelers don't have to deal with this. Kudos to the Vacation Store staff who spent a lot of time on the phone with us to try to resolve the problem. Once we checked in, the trip went smoothly.
Our trip was amazing for an initial visit to Ireland. Flights were on time and all rail transportation between cities was included. Only one hotel was subpar and that was in Galway. The hotels in Belfast, Dublin and Limerick were wonderful and met our expectations. Time to find a better accommodation choice in Galway.
Great trip and good value!
The vacation was a terrific value that gave us a very memorable experience. The hotels were unique and well situated for siteseeing. The rail passes worked well and seeing Ireland by train was so convienent and very relaxing. From Dublin to Cork to Killarney we enjoyed the Irish landscape and people like we were locals as opposed to tourists. I cannot say enough good things about the trip and it won't be long before we book another vacation with the AerLingus Vacation Store.
Excellent service and value. Our flights were fantastic.
Booking the vacation was easy. We were able to easily book our Bed and Breakfasts. We were disappointed that we were not given seat assignments for our flights when we booked the vacation through Aer Lingus. We ended up with the last row on our return flight.
nice vacations but in the past you could call customer service and customize your trip. not any more. That said, my wife and I are looking at other aer lingus vacations for next spring.
8 niights self driving tour of southern Ireland exceeded our expectation.. Aftet a couple of hours getting familiar with diving on the left we ventured off the main roads and spent most of our time on the narrow country roads: auto trans and full damage insurance highy recommended. We were in the area offseason and had just 1 day of lite rain. We were often the only two people at some of the venues we visited. We are eager to go back and travel northern ireland. The people are friendly, food is ok and prices are reasonable.
It is a land of history, mystery, geography, tradition and culture that evoke and provoke constant awe and wonder
A highly enjoyable and surprisingly hassle free rrip, and a very good value, even with a weaker dollar. The flights over and back were relaxing and comfortable. Our accommodations in Dublin at the Fitzpatrick Castle were standout, with a huge room that allowed the three of us to spread out. The hotel in Edinburgh, a Hilton, was a bit of a disappointment. It was small, sparsely furnished and very much in need of an update, especially the carpet, which was heavily stained. On the plus side, we were in the heart of Old Town Edinburgh and could easily walk to every place we wanted to see...and there is much to see. Breakfast at both hotels, which was included, was a great value, and there was a wide selection of food.
Buyer beware!! As the old saying goes - you get what you pay for. We ended up having to book another hotel in Galway. The one included in the trip was a major DUMP. Not only were there body hairs (from various parts of the body) and a blood stain on the sheets, we felt very unsafe. When we contacted Aerlingus, they were rude and did absolutely nothing to rectify the situation. So a trip that started out at a very good price - again, buyer beware - turned into twice the price. We, however, had a wonderful trip (it was Ireland, after all), but will never use them again for booking a trip. My advice - book it all yourself. That way you can pick your own hotels, etc., and not have to deal with Aerlingus Vacations, because they do NOT care once you hit submit payment!
