Incredible 24 day West Africa tour

I took a 24 day West Africa tour with exceptional guide Claude. He skillfully managed all the challenges that West Africa presents in border crossings, change in plans, and anything that modified the itinerary--which is clearly stated in the tour info. We experienced excellent safe food, incredible excursions to see unique animals--sometimes we saw them up close. Claude organized our group, gave us extensive information about the activities, culture and people. I loved seeing the animals and never tired of village visits with curious, friendly people. I loved watching--and participating in --village dancers. Great trip!!!

Very Good Tour; Terrible Business Practices

I took a number of Adventures Abroad tours and love their itineraries as well as their guides. When COVID hit I was about to leave on a tour of Algeria, Tunisia, and Malta, and had another very expensive tour to the Pacific Islands that the balance was due on shortly. To say AA was horrible is an understatement. When they canceled they would NOT consider a refund, would only provide the option of rebooking in 6 months (while I kept sending them articles that said COVID would last much longer than that) and having captured my money increased the price due to losses they said their vendors sustained for the last-minute cancellation. When I objected they told me I was on my own on recovering from the airline the costs of the flights I had booked thru them. I had to fight and flight and fight to finally get my money back, copying a travel magazine continually with my emails. In the process I learned that AA, when then advertised it was a registered Seller of Travel in California (which it was required to be to do business here was required under the Seller of Travel Law) was required under the SOTL to give a refund, and within 30 days. I sent AA copies the law and threatened to make a complaint, continued to fight, and finally got my money. Fast forward to the end of COVID, AA still includes in its terms and conditions the no refund and price increase provision if they cancel. I loved their itinerary for a trip to Korea and Taiwan and started to book with them again, thinking that the problems I had had with them had been simply due to COVID and had been addressed over time, but was rejected because I had been so assertive before. Prior to rejecting me they told me I would have to agree in writing to their terms and conditions, which anyone does when contracting with them. The provision they specified I would have to agree to pertained to what would happen if AA canceled, i.e.. the 6 month rebooking without a refund and the potential price increase from vendor expenses due to cancelations So read the terms and conditions carefully. AA is in knowing violation of the law, at least in my state, which is something you may want to keep in mind if you do business with them.
