$200 free for them!

About a month ago I ordered a natural gas heater from Acme tools. When the installer tried to set it up, he discovered that it had two broken parts. I called the company and they told me to set it on the porch and they would send FedEx out to pick it up in the morning. So I did just that. In the morning I met the FedEx driver who had the instructions to pick up the box but said he was not given a call tag. He took the box and said he would match it with the call tag when he got back to the facility. The box never got back to Acme and they refuse to refund me. I tried to appeal via my payment source, PayPal, and they cannot help me because FedEx did not give me a tracking number. I am out $200.

Extremely disappointed

Ordered $250 of tools. FedEx show it was delivered but it was not delivered to my address. Back and forth with acme and they just push the blame on FedEx. Won’t refund or reship items. Have to pay to dispute it with my bank to get my money back. I will never use this company again and I purchase a lot of tools for my business. What a headache. This place sucks sucks!!!

Avoid this seller! Item never got delivered.

Avoid this seller. Did not deliver the item, kept me waiting for 14 days while the item was supposed to be received within 6 days after placing the order. I was never contacted by this seller to give a reason why it was delayed!

salesman ignores customer

Went to the Plymouth store and bought and paid for a cordless tracksaw kit. The warehouse personnel brought up the saw only, no track. Her response was that she's just the warehouse person, a salesman has to help. The salesperson there looked at me, walked away, and came back and helped 3 other people without so much as even looking me in the eye. By that time I decided I didn't need anything that bad from this store and finally got the salesmans attention and asked for a refund. Then he said "You don't want to wait for the track?" All along he knew what was going on, but chose to ignore me rather than keeping me informed. A simple statement saying someone was working on getting the trcak up there would have been fine. But at that point they lost a $500 sale.

They Don't Want New Customers?

Thank you for posting a lot of negative reviews. I saw 2 lawn mowers that interested me. Twice, I tried to contact them, but received no response. I'll order the lawn mower from a different company; price was NOT the issue, customer service is more important, I guess they don't want my money.

Nothing but great experiences with Acme

I've read some bad things on here about customer service at Acme and have to provide my own experiences that have been stellar. Only twice have I had to contact them. Once to ask that they split an order and send the in stock items right away. I'd selected the wrong options at checkout, they fixed MY mistake immediately.

Once they had a technical issue causing a sale banner to show on an excluded item on their web site, so the discount code wasn't working. Called in and they honored the discount anyway.

One thing that I think people don't realize is how they handle backordered items. Some of the complaints are about multiple tracking numbers and the invoice you receive when an itemsships showing all items instead of just the ones that ship. If you have a split order like that you will get an invoice showing every item in your order when a portion ships, BUT it will list 0 on the quantity and price for any items in a different shipment. These invoices are for record keeping at businesses buying from them.

I've always gotten fair prices, shipping is fast. Really a great store IMHO.

Ordered a Dewalt battery kit in…

Ordered a Dewalt battery kit in December of 2020, expected to receive the Dewalt promotional item with it. Batteries showed up in 2-3 days, but the promotion item did not show up as promised. 3 weeks go by, no item, 3 months go by no item. Support team keeps emailing that it is delayed. Now they promise in July to ship the item, yea right. Total bait and switch. The item itself is instock at acmetool, but because it is not labeled with the promotional designation by acmetool, they will not ship it to me. Horrible way to treat your customers. And a good way to make sure they never shop with you again.

Ordered wrong part

Ordered wrong part. Called Acme before they shipped to cancel. Half hour on hold I opted to have them call back. They never called back. When it arrived my wife accepted it not knowing to decline. She then filed for a return. The return said to keep them and it’ll be refunded in 3-5 days. Two weeks later no refund. I don’t want them. I can’t use them. And I will never order from Acme again.

Incorrect information given over and over

Made an order, given tracking number lots of automated communication showing the order and when it would arrive. Did not show up, arrived next day incomplete. I complained and SIRI backhandedly provided a new tracking number but no indication in the contact that it was a new number. Now the remaining part of the order will arrive tomorrow. Recapping provided one tracking number and showed pictures of the order and when shipped it was in two tracking numbers which were not provided until the complaint was lodged.
Save your blood pressure, buy from some one else.

Promises not kept

I placed an order in December with a promised delivery date in January. I was contacted that there would be a delay and today is March 17th and still no tools or more info as to why or when I should expect them. I was charged in total in December in part of a promotion buy batteries get tool free. I would imagine most would use batteries when delivered in other tools so no option to return them when it comes to ACME not fulfilling the free portion which in my case and many others was the motivation to overpay for batteries from the start

Acme Tools has been great for us....

Having ordered several times from Acme Tools, sure, like most suppliers, there has been an issue or two over the years.... but their customer service has been excellent. And for us, resolving a problem without a lot of hassle is imperative for online purchases. If you do have an issue, take photos and send to them.... nobody can take anyone's word in the virtual world if they want to stay in business.

I wrote a bad review back in November…

I wrote a bad review back in November when Acme Tools sent me the wrong item and held my refund hostage until I fixed their mistake (which I did). I alerted Walmart to their egregious behavior (including multiple instances of deception) and Walmart responded by promptly issuing my refund and apologizing for Acme’s bad behavior.

Fast forward to yesterday- Acme leaves a message on my machine saying they want payment for my “order”. At this point, there is no order. I did not respond. Then, I receive an email saying my non-order has shipped, with a FedEx tracking. The “order” does not exist on the Acme order online tool. I sent an email saying that I was not aware of any “order” and asked for the details. They responded by email, that the earlier email was sent in error and that I need to give them my credit card to pay. They also said my order was given a new order number due to a system error.

There never was an order. There never was shipping. But they sure created the impression that I somehow owed them money. They never sent any order details. They changed the order number for reasons that are unclear.

It may be gross incompetence, but based on my earlier experience when they repeatedly lied through their teeth to me (and got caught), I believe they were attempting to trick me into thinking that somehow, I had to buy whatever it is they were selling in this fictitious game.

Stay away from this vendor at all costs.

Don't waste your time. Terrible customer service.

I was told a tool was in stock and would ship the next business day (despite having ordered it at 7AM) but OK, I understand. 5 days later I still hadn't received a shipping notification. I called to follow up and was told "Someone placed their order 5 minutes before you. But we should be getting the product back in stock in 4-6 weeks." Sure would've been nice to get an email informing me I wont get my item when I was told I would. Had to cancel and order from someone else. Worth every extra penny. Don't waste your time with these people.

Had my shipping address miss a suite or…

Had my shipping address miss a suite or an apartment # it could not be delivered. I call Acme tools to get it fixed and they said I had to call FedEx because FedEx will not let them change the address after it’s been shipped out. I call FedEx they said the shipper had to call it in and change it so I called acme back that the they can do anything that it. I sent them an email of a screenshot of what FedEx said to have them call and FedEx would fix it be that had to call not me. They still would not do anything so I am out $200 bucks and have to wait to get my money back after canceling my order. I have ordered from Ohio power tool and that where I will be ordering from now on.

Their Mistake is Your Problem

I ordered an item from Acme Tools via the Walmart platform. They sent the wrong item. When I contacted Acme customer service by phone, they said to get what I ordered, I had to buy it again (pay twice). The other choice they offered was to return the item for a refund. I preferred not to wait, asked for an exchange. They reluctantly agreed on the phone. The email with the return label said otherwise (only a refund is available and I had to meet their onerous return policy, and wait for them to be satisfied). I objected, but sent the item back with the return label. In effect, they are tying my refund to a new demand that I fix their mistake to their satisfaction (the original order is contractually unfulfilled, the new problem of dealing with their mistake is a separate matter).

They made matters worse in an email, where they held their ground on the refund delay deception, blamed the Walmart site for the problem, and suggested that I reorder the item under another model number, which was an entirely different (and more expensive) item. I alerted Walmart of the facts, attaching the Acme Tools email response. Walmart responded with concern and issued the refund within a few hours.

After further checking around, I discovered what caused the problem. The Acme site (which sells the same stuff) revealed that they were using the same UPC number for the two items (the one I ordered and the wrong one I received). This coding error was repeated on the Walmart listing (which, more than a week later, still contains the wrong UPC number).

My issues with Acme Tools are several-fold. First, they seem incapable of admitting that they made a mistake. Second, their policy in this situation is highly deceptive in that you are led believe that it is your responsibility to return the mistaken item to them, to their satisfaction, in order to be entitled to a refund on the original, unfulfilled order (even though the two are legally unconnected). Third, whatever your view on the policy, they impose their requirement on the consumer by brute force, by withholding your money, a practice which, in my view, is deceptive, coercive and entirely illegal.

The actual legal positioning of parties in this situation is easily revealed if you imagine what would happen if the value of the item mistakenly sent far exceeded the refund value. In this case, they would say (correctly) the mistaken item on your door step is their property, you can’t sell it or use it ( i.e., the purchase contract cannot be completed by your acceptance), they want it back, and they will make arrangements to retrieve it from your premises.

In any event, this exercise illustrates how the Acme Tools customer service works hard to provide the financial interests of Acme Tools with maximum protection, to the point of deception and coercion, when they make a mistake, and could care less about the rights or concerns of its customers.
