Scam! Stay away

Scam!!! They will take your money, waste your time with useless worksheets and you wont hear from them again after you finish the program. Not a single interview! They have no job networks anywhere! Probably just some guy sitting somewhere taling advantage of desperate job seekers.

The UK goverment should really do…

The UK goverment should really do something about these scam companies who promise people "valuable" work experience and after they get your money they never bother to answer to you and provide no service at all. I really don't understand why do they still exist and scam people..

AVOID AT ALL COSTS

So,

Where do I begin. As a recent Accountancy and Finance graduate who achieved a Good Degree I have now been looking for work and you know how it is, as a recent graduate you can get desperate and literally go for anything. I have been applying to jobs for the past 2 months now such as Finance roles, Entry level Accounting roles and etc.

So I applied to this role advertised on Totaljobs as an Assistant Accountant role with a salary of between £25,000 - £27,000. My method is just to send as many applications out as possible and send my CV out. So anyway I got this call from this company regarding the Assistant Accountant role and they said to me we are offering a 3 Months Remote Placement with this Accounting Firm where you will have a mentor accountant and you will be doing a wide variety of tasks and also get your Sage 50 Level 1,2,3 Certifications as well as getting a Xero Certification. They said to me the normal price is £995 however as I am a graduate they will offer it to me for £395. So me being the desperate idiot I am. I decided to go for it as they promised they would schedule interviews for me with there partner firms around Manchester after I have completed the 3 month course. So first RED FLAG was it was a complete false advertisement and they mentioned nothing about this 3 month course in their advertisement but we move on.

So abit about the actual programme, You get a variety of tasks by a 'Mentor' Accountant such as bookkeeping, reconciliation tasks, etc. But most of the stuff you are provided is stuff which you would see given out in a classroom. Its just basic excel spreadsheets the Mentor sends you with a task in them. A complete and utter waste of time. This 'Mentor' is either a robot or he just copy and pastes the same bs for every one of his unfortunate victims. It's completely robotic. If you ever try ask for any personal advice he won't bother replying back to you. And if you ever make a mistake on the task he gives you 0 advice he instead tells you the task is wrong and to try it again? Like wth is this Mentor actually for. Its one big pointless exercise.

The most interesting part about this is the Accountancy Firm that Accounting Placements work with is based in London and is called ' Perfect Management Accountants '

They didn't allow me to include links but if you search them up you can see, Perfect Management Accountants have 0 contact information at all. Also what's very interesting is both ' Accounting Placements ' and ' Perfect Management Accountants ' use the exact same chatbot software... If you try calling Accounting Placements you just get straight sent to voicemail because apparently the mailbox is full... If you try email them they take ages to respond and when they do you end up dealing with a first class clown.

What is also quite interesting is the 'Mentor' types his emails up exactly the same way the guy at Accounting Placements types his emails up... Commas in the exact same place, exact same style of writing haha its a joke.

Regarding the certifications. I don't even think Sage 50 is used that much anymore and outdated (correct me if I'm wrong) and I think Xero is used quite a bit tbf might be the only useful thing about this course but then again if you want to learn how to use accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks and etc just please find cheap courses online.

It's just one big SCAM and if your a graduate or anyone tbh STAY CLEAR of companies who call you up and want to charge you for work experience. Don't be a idiot like me. Go out there and get actual work experience and avoid any of this nonsense hang up straight away if you get any calls from any company like this.

UPDATE: So if you are assuring me that Perfect Management Accountants is a real firm, how come they do not exist on company's house and when I phoned up to the address perfect management accountants supposedly exists at I was told they have never heard of you before? You really need to stop scamming innocent graduates. You make it out that Accounting Placements LTD is some big company when in reality the guy who runs it is 26 and unemployed and is based in some residential house in surrey?? Get a grip.

Hi Molly,

Hope you're well,

I'm sorry to hear you didn't have a good experience on the program, I can assure you we are a legitimate company and have mentored numerous candidates through the program in the past that have gone on to successfully start their accountancy careers afterwards.

Unfortunately I can't find any of your information on our records by the details you've submitted here so we can't reach out to help you so if you can get in contact with us directly, we'll try and help you out.

Best Regards,

Jogn

No help at all

They provide barely any help when giving you the materials with most of the work having to be self taught despite being paired with an ‘experienced’ accountant. Their attempt at fixing up your CV was atrocious. I had to tell them they were including things I had never done showing all they must do is copy and paste. I ended up doing my CV again. There was also the promise of helping you find a job after the programme ended but they put in barely any effort trying to achieve that. I had to regularly contact them about any updates and not vice versions. Would not recommend! Steer clear!

Hi, I'm sorry to hear that, the materials are designed to be done on a self paced basis hence why it slowly builds up to the more complex tasks rather than throwing you into the deep end straightaway, especially as the senior accountant paired with you still has a full time job and has his daily duties to go about, and is more there to point you in the right direction rather than to teach you, and in terms of the CV I do apologise about that however for any further amendments you can simply let the team know, and they can get that all sorted out for you, and in terms of roles you should receive monthly updates as a minimum, so if not please let us know especially as we do have some partners offering some remote roles at the moment.
