AAA has actually became the worst automobile club in the world. I have been a member with AAA for 10 years and never used them for a tow and they would not tow my car because it was sitting in a mecha... See more

Travel insurance that doesn't work
Travel insurance that looks great on paper… until you actually need to use it.
I filed a claim with over $1,000 in documented expenses, including approximately $870 related to a travel delay. I submitted all required receipts and documentation at the time of filing. Weeks later, I received a notice that my claim was closed due to “lack of documentation.” This was incorrect—everything had already been uploaded. After following up, Allianz acknowledged that the claim had been closed in error. However, the claim was then processed under a “no receipts” limit, and I was issued only $100, despite receipts being on file. Only after repeated follow-ups and escalation did they admit the receipts were there and issue an additional payment—bringing the total to $400. Documentation was not properly reviewed. The claim was incorrectly closed. Benefits were initially calculated incorrectly.
Multiple errors had to be corrected only after repeated escalation. What should have been a straightforward claim turned into a time-consuming process requiring constant follow-up just to have the claim reviewed properly. If you choose this company, read the fine print carefully—and be prepared to advocate for yourself if you ever need to file a claim.
STOP PUSHING LIFE INSURANCE!!!
STOP PUSHING LIFE INSURANCE!!!
I received a free year of basic AAA service through my phone provider, and it has been the biggest mistake of my life. I receive physical mail regarding their life insurance policies at LEAST two times a week. In addition (and MAYBE only a coincidence), I have received more spam calls and texts from phishing campaigns than I ever did before I enrolled in this "service."
Do yourself a favor, just add the extra rental reimbursement and towing features to your insurance policy, NOT AAA.
Lack of employee training
Location:
3700 Central Ave, Riverside, CA 92506
I have been a AAA member for approximately 36 years and have consistently had positive experiences until this incident.
On April 22, 2026, I visited a AAA branch to renew my auto registration. The representative who assisted me, identified as Gina, was unhelpful and unprofessional. She did not address my questions directly and instead made unrelated comments. Throughout the interaction, she appeared more focused on asserting authority than providing customer service. As a result, I did not receive the assistance I needed during my time at her counter.
After leaving her station, I spoke with the employee who initially checked me in. This individual was courteous, helpful, and able to answer my questions clearly, which highlighted the contrast in service quality.
Customer service is terrible and drivers are rude
Customer service is terrible, the tow truck driver have bad attitudes I been a loyal customer for over 10 years and I just had a baby a few weeks ago my car needed tow and they wouldn’t tow it cause I wasn’t at the car only my husband the driver lied so he didn’t have to tow my car
They repeatedly send surface mail…
They repeatedly send surface mail renewals and when I make a payment early they misapply it and I have to chase them down to apply the payment to the proper account. Sending them a contact form with the confirmation number has done nothing. If they want to keep members they should streamline their services.
After placing my misguided trust in AAA…
After placing my misguided trust in AAA Colorado Auto sell program , I was steamrolled from the beginning of the sale right up to the moment of “pickup”.
I agreed to the sale price & signed the title to AAA in Parker. Then was advised who & when the runners would be at the house to pick up the vehicle. When they arrived, them immediately took over to inspect from engine to interior & exterior & demanded a test drive. Then demanded to take vehicle to a body shop. With the understanding the sale was final before pickup time was set, I had to terminate sale and get title of vehicle returned to me.By using AAA Auto sell program, it was my understanding AAA was to protect me from unscrupulous people coming to my home. This experience has been shocking & traumatizing beyond my expectations of a reputable company. What a disappoint. Expected quality service from AAA not a two bit operation!

George is the Best!
I was aided by an incredible kind older gentleman named George. He got to me within 15 minutes of my call, and was able to test and replace my battery within 20 minutes. Very friendly, engaged in conversation, answered all my questions, and overall just provided excellent service and humanity. I truly wish him nothing but the best for helping me out!
Damaged my 2020 WRX
Unfortunately they were the agent sent to unlock my car from AAA. In March 2026. They broke my window switch pressing the wrong button to unlock it, and then denied responsibility and AAA let them get away with it. I will have to report to the BBB and reviews and move on, with 300$ in damage to my car over a simple unlock service that I paid for. Timothy walter took my claim information, then accused me of lying that there was no way the damage could have happened the way I described it (which is not right because I could easily replicate it myself..) and then when I told him I needed to speak to a supervisor because this is very wrong, they told me they'd call me back and never did.

AAA screwed me over by paying for a claim that they shouldn’t have. Someone else caused an accident and I was involved, and not only did they pay the at fault party after I told them I’d take it to arbitration, but they are now kicking me off my insurance. I’ll not be able to get a normal insurance plan now and I’ll probably have to sell my car because I can’t afford to keep it insured. Absolutely the worst I cannot recommend getting different insurance enough. Terrible policy management.
Beware of “emergency” timeline
Beware of “emergency” timeline. They can deny a tow for any reason. Because my truck was at a mechanic for a month, unable to fix, they denied. She said we need a call 24-48hrs after a break down. Nothing is written in the policy. Cost me $360 to tow myself.
Terrible Insurance Company
AAA Insurance is the worst I have ever had. There is no loyalty with them. After 15 years, I am also switching to Good Sam for my roadside assistance. They paid a claim to another driver who was fault in an accident. When I proved in court that the other driver was at fault, the judge agreed. They refused to help me get right with Geico, the other driver's company. I even had to threaten to sue them to remove the at-fault designation from my policy. The agent was a pompous jerk too. I was able to better coverage for less than half from USAA.
Joined the family plan 9 days ago: Bad move!
Joined the family plan 9 days ago. Family member did not receive their member e-mail/log-in info. I go to the AAA website on Day #7 (a weekend). There is no option for requesting a resend of emails, so if you run into a problem, you have to call.
Day #8 (a Monday): I call at 9:00 am and receive an outgoing msg that they are open 7:00 am -- 9:00 pm but their office is closed. Call gets cut off.
I call 5 minutes later and I'm told my wait time is over 5 minutes. When someone picks up (home noise heard in the background), I say at this point I want to cancel my membership. If dealing with such a simple issue as getting a member email resent is this problematic, I don't want a membership. I am told NO, I CANNOT CANCEL. They say there is a 7-day grace period and I am two days past that period.
With some effort, I find a (more) local number to call. At least someone picked up after two rings. She repeated that they cannot cancel memberships after 7 days and the only way to do this would be to file a dispute with my credit card company, which I've done.
Poor customer service. Even their outgoing messages on their phone lines are screwed up. Rude reps at 800#. Wait time is unacceptable. Bad policy.
This company is not what it used to be. It's gotten too big.
What you say is not what is seen at the pump.
Question for you... I have heard several times you saying the average gas price is $4.04 a gallon? I work over the country and a don't agree! It is more than that.
Woman traveling alone? Great help!
Woman traveling alone and my van broke down. AAA team members were very helpful over the phone. Tow trucks, yes trucks, over three days made my trip so much better. Each driver was professional and got me the right help. Each shop I was brought to did great work. On the third night I wouldn’t need them to tow me and my dog locked me out! The truck came out and got me back in my van. I used AAA in three stateson three days in a row.I trust them and know they can work with me to get me on my way.

By far the worst roadside service ive ever received. Renewed my plan only to be told I can’t get a tow truck for 3 days. On top of that they wanted to charge me 60$ to get a truck today which is literally 20 less than the plan. Will never be purchasing this again

They provided me a partial refund after only a day of use that I received a letter in the mail that seemed misleading relating to the price of the service. Ill go with Goodsam for now on. Their customer service was not all that great.
AAA's automated/AI system is the worst...
I tried using AAA's automated phone/AI service to have my car battery jumped. I did this repeatedly, and each time it sent me to the app, where I sat looking at a blank white screen for minutes. At some point, I wanted to talk to a live agent -and the auto phone/AI service did the same thing. It then occurred to me to call the nearest AAA headquarters, to see if I could contact a live agent there - and once again, when I pressed "1" for "roadside assistance," it sent to me to the same useless app page. But then I had a bright idea: at the local headquarters, there was a connecting number for "Annuities." I *knew* the company would want me to talk with a live human for *that*. And sure enough, the number connected me to a live agent immediately. I explained my situation to her, and guess what - she immediately connected me to a live agent for roadside assistance. That live agent then hooked me up with a local service, and in less than a half hour, James was at my Jeep giving me a jump. But how long was it between making that first useless phone call to the automated/AI system, and finally reaching that first live agent, who *finally* got me what I needed? A minimum of 45 minutes. And once again, that was just so I could talk with someone who could help me. And did I mention that I just renewed my $142 Premiere membership? And did I mention this isn't my first time in this circus? Yeah - a couple of years ago, I was locked out of my vehicle around 10:00pm and I used the app. The AI texted me it would be ten minutes or so before a service contacted me. Again, this happened repeatedly. No one ever came that night - I finally reached some one the next morning. A similar process happened to me during another night time event. I provided a complaint in the feedback form a couple of times now - and I still see no changes. Bottom line: when you are able to deal with a live human, AAA provides great service. But their automated/AI system - to say it generously - has a *lot* to be desired. And I've had it with this system. If I have to actually *work* to get good service - or *any* service - and if they can't provide an easy option for immediately contacting a live agent - forget it. I put roadside assistance on my car insurance, and I'm never using them again. Three strikes, dude.
In middle of the night at a Trucker's stop, AAA Service man sent left us stranded without a word
On April 4th,26 I was traveling from Florida to NJ with my daughter, her two year old, and a 8 yr old. We stopped about 9:30 pm for gas at a truck stop Sheetz, Virginia. In my hurry to winter clothes on in the back of the van I left my keys on the floor. Completely to my dismay I had my money, cell, credit cards. My daughter had her cell. The manager of Sheetz offered us free beverages as we waited for AAA. Service man showed up awkwardly fumbled with the doors and left with out speaking to me. Left 2 women, and two little ones in a parking lotin the middle of the night! Manager of Sheetz called about company in and in 3 minutes he had my van open. I was back on the road by 11:30 at night. AAA endangered my families life leaving us like that. My daughter, AAA member and my self a AAAA member was abandoned. I recalled CS and the man said," What am I suppose to do?" For God
's sake act like your mom, wife and little kids are stuck in a different state with no money, id or cellphone.
Sheetz and the DGKeys saved us. AAA's CS has done nothing to compensate for their failure or even acknowledge the dangerous situation they left me in.
Yeah good for nothing
Yeah good for nothing. When you need them. They give you the run around. Pure crap.
