I booked an apartment and got the booking confirmation. After I tried twice in vain to contact the host via email, it turned out that the apartment was not bookable. The alternatives offered did not match my search criteria.

This in not the company you want to trust with your reservation

If you don't want to worry about your reservation being available when you arrive then DO NOT USE 9 FLATS. On February 5, 2018 we booked a two bedroom apartment in Melbourne from February 22 to February 27. On February 20 we received an e-mail reminding us our stay was soon and to print out all the documents. At 6 pm February 22 we arrived at the apartment but no one was there to give us entry. We called the phone number on the reservation and was informed the unit was not available because it had been sold! (Really don't believe that) They said they could not help us and we would have to find other accommodations on our own a, needless to say, we paid a lot more because we had less choice. 9 Flats told us they have no control over the owners of these apartments however they have a responsibility to customers to ensure they are dealing with trustworthy clients. We received our money back less $ 18.06 not sure why the difference but it cost us so much more in stress, the new accommodation, and time calling to try and get them to work with us. That's not how you should be spending time on vacation.

not easy to navigate on the website map

It's difficult on your website to choose a flat. When you want to go back from the flat to the rest of the selection you have zoom another time to select the area insted of coming back on the area selection

Apartment owner tried to cheat me by…

Apartment owner tried to cheat me by indicating a false location in Amsterdam. Until now nobody from 9flats came back to me or give a sign than my complaint was heard.
Very bad experience.

Dear Beate,

actually you've been alerted that the booking was cancelled and that the fully refund was already issued.
As you could have easily checked, we promptly removed both property and host account since our security department discovered the issue.
this kind of stuff, even if really annoying, could happen. Important is that the customer is not losing any cents and get notice in time.
In your case your booking has been cancelled few hours after it was accepted and that time was due to our investigation.

Dont use it!!!

Very BAD, I was booked apart in Barcelona, the block my money, cancel my booking!!! I dont know how people work with this BAD website

Left hand doesn't talk to the right hand

I don't understand why the owner reserved the date for us specifically and the website allowed someone else booked those same date. What's the point when I had to connect to the owner and the site can get around a contractual negotiation between two parties on the rental agreement and rented it to a third party. Not trust worthy.

thank you for writing.
As you probably know, it is the host who can decide for cancelling a booking and not 9flats
You got charged since it is the way it works (we do charge guest as soon as a request is accepted) but you also got refunded at the very same time the host cancelled the booking.
Even if this kind of events shouldn't happen, sometimes they happen but it is not 9flats decision, it is always the host who make it.
For sure it is sad and we understand your point of view but you cannot blame 9flats for it.

thank you for writing.
We are very sad for what happened.
We understand what does it mean having a cancellation like you had but you cannot blame us. Indeed our goal is to keep bookings and not to cancel them. The host acted very bad, for sure, but we were clear and professional, as usual
The fully refund has been issued in "real time", at the very same moment that the booking has been cancelled by the host. Normally bank takes couple of days to let money be available again. It is not our fault, neither we kept your money one minute more than the due time.
