Took advantage of the free trial and refused to refund my money they took after subscription was cancelled

Took advantage of the free trial they were offering, wasn't impressed with the content so the day prior to the fee being deducted from my account I cancelled the free trial, the next subscription was taken regardless, so I claimed it back through my bank only to be told that 8fit had advised that I hadn't cancelled the subscription in time, and to provide evidence of when this was cancelled, this information is not available on the app so I contacted 8fit and asked them to provide me with this information, at which point they refuse saying 'you need to contact your bank directly' 'we will not speak with you until a final decision has been made. This is utterly disgusting and no wonder they only have 2 stars, in fact I am stunned they have that many, avoid at all costs.

A few weeks ago I happened to run AVG…

A few weeks ago I happened to run AVG antivirus on my phone, and got alerted to "hackers got a hold of your password and published it online" and then shows my email address. The leak was discovered February 28, 2019.

I have never even heard of this company, so I have no clue as to how this even happened, and I'm definitely NOT installing the app to try changing the password. I also don't want to have to attempt logging in, and having to do the "forgot password", because then I'll have to give my email address to them AGAIN! If anyone knows how to change my password or delete it and my info, please post instructions for me and other people dealing with this!

Based upon other reviews, it seems this has happened to other people.

Avoid any involvement with this company!

Somehow started a free trial don't know how long for but it appears it came to an end and they took 2 payments within a day of each other of £56.99 so a total of £113.98 in 24hrs. I have sent 3 emails, submitted a request via their website and sent a Facebook message to no avail. I've been left now needing to avail of a food bank as I've been left with no money. Is it not law now in the UK for companies to notify me of a free trial coming to an end?

Never ending subscription fees

Never ending subscription fees

I previously rated as 1 star (see below review), but I am updating to 2 stars as 8fit have advised they are now refunding the subscription fee. However, companies are required to provide prior notice of deducting subscription fees in the UK, so it would be much better if this was observed in the first place

Previous message

8Fit continue to take subscription fees without prior notice after you have cancelled your subscription. Moreover, I didn’t like the content in the app. There are much better fitness services available for lower fees

Got charged for a subscription that doesn't exist!!!

I got charged twice 3 days ago (£56.99!!!), luckily my Bank noticed that there was a fraud transaction, and as a result cancelled my old card and issued new one.
As soon as I saved my new card to the Apple Pay, I got charged for the same subscription AGAIN!

I see that a lot of people are trying to cancel their subscriptions.. But funny thing is that I don't even have an account with 8fit!

Just run a very comprehensive virus checker which identified 8fit as being associated with some of my data being on the dark web. Not impressed, suggest this company is avoided and if already being used, that it’s removed from your devices and any passwords changed.

Love the app

Love the app. Great meal recipes, exercises, and it’s very easy to track my calories and protein intake. I contacted customer support with an issue and I received a prompt and helpful response. I’ve had the app for about 2-3 years now and I just set a reminder when my subscription is about to expire and then decide to cancel or continue - overall no issues and happy with the app & service.

ATTENTION TRAP

ATTENTION TRAP: they won't let you cancel the subscription by saying "Network Error", client service doesn't reply, and even you delete your account, the subscription will still exist.

Update: after claiming on the 14th day(the last eligible day according to them) of the "starting date"(I don't know how it's computed), they processed my request for the refund and canceled the subscription.

Really good app, but needs to get rid of that one dark UX pattern

Just like many of reviewers, I was also tricked into a full-year subscription. And I also couldn't get a refund. It's really just a dark user experience pattern. It's a shame they are using it because the app itself is really good. I was pissed when that happened and couldn't use the app anymore even though it was paid for a full year. However, the time has passed, a good discount was offered and I decided to try it again. Because, as I said before, the app itself is really good — one of the best I've ever used. Now I have a reminder set up to cancel before the year ends (if I won't be using this app by that time) to prevent being tricked again. But for now, I enjoy this app very much. Let's hope they will get rid of the dark pattern soon because it's really turning against them in the long term.

My subscription auto-renewed and not able to get a refund

My subscription auto-renewed without any notification or reminder, and I contacted them that I do not want another year of subscription and I want a refund, but they are not refunding as I agreed to the terms of renewal. Which good company would try to profit from such situation knowing that the client won't use the product. They even suggested I can share my account with someone who might want to use if I don't want to use another year, thank you, I could not think about that.
