Trip Of A Lifetime!

I travelled on the Hans Hansson Dec 2025 -Jan 2026 and had the most incredible trip I could ever have dreamed for.
All the crew were just amazing working tirelessly to make the trip so special, the food was great and every day was filled with magical experiences.
A truly epic once in a lifetime dream come true.
Highly recommended!

The Best Antartica Trip!

I had the most amazing trip on the Ocean Tramp! I can't imaging a better way to have experienced Antartica (or a more spectacular place to visit).
Our crew was excellent. I always felt safe with Lucas, Damien and Daniel and the route was so well planned to make the most of the ever changing Antartic weather. On the few rougher days they ensured we were sheltered in safe harbours (often next to penguin colonies!) And barely felt the boat rock. The flexibility of being on such a small, manoeuvrable boat ment that when we spotted penguins or seals on icebergs we could detour to visit them.
Mac our guide always ensured that we had everything we needed, kept us entertained and taught us about the environment, history and animals.
After all this exploring we would come back to the boat for Scotty's delicious food and hot chocolates (I've never been so well fed on a boat).
Thankyou to all the crew and Quixote for making Antartica my favourite country

Antarctica un the Ocean Tramp

On January 29, 2025, I traveled to Antarctica with Quixote Expedition, and it was a truly unforgettable experience. First and foremost, being able to fly from Punta Arenas to Antarctica, skipping the Drake Passage, made it very confortable.

From the moment I arrived in Punta Arenas, the attention and support from the team was excellent. The Ocean Tramp is a beautiful sailboat. The crew was professional and attentive, ensuring that all passengers were comfortable and safe at all times. The food on board was exquisite and varied (I follow a gluten-free diet), and the boat itself was very comfortable and cozy. The cleanliness and service were 5-star, without a doubt.

But what really made this trip special were the places we visited. Antarctica is a truly unique and spectacular destination, and the team did an excellent job selecting the best places to visit, taking into account the weather, distances, ice, and more.

In summary, my trip to Antarctica with Quixote Expedition on board the Ocean Tramp was a wonderful adventure that exceeded all my expectations. If you're considering a trip to Antarctica, I highly recommend Quixote Expedition.

Amazing way to see Antarctica

Amazing way to see Antarctica. Seing wildlife at eye level was fabulous. Fantastic crew, very attentive and great fun to be with. Also very safety conscious and treating Antrarctica the way it deserves. Great cook - super food. Fresh fruit the entire trip. Great desserts. Everytime we had been out on a zodiak on ashore, we cam e back to hot drinks and great snacks. Great boat - very comfy!

Great experience in Antarctica and with the Ocean Tramp Crew

I was on a photography trip to Antarctica on the Quixote Expeditions sailboat Ocean Tramp for a couple weeks. Not only was the environment and wildlife amazing to experience up close and with such a small group, but the crew really made the trip happen. In addition to our photo guide, the Ocean Tramp crew made sure we were safe, very well fed and got as many photo opportunities as possible. In addition, the crew's genuinely happy spirit made for a great environment on board.

Grateful for this AMAZING experience

An amazing way to see Antarctica!
Whales, Penguins, Seals, Birds, Glaciers, Icebergs, the landscapes and seas, Oh My! We are forever changed.
We heard that Quixote Expeditions is well respected for their professional team and making the most out of every trip which is so dependent on the weather. we chose Ocean Tramp for the ultimate experience, we were a small group of 5 guests; one, a Penguin Scientist which meant we went where the colonies are for her to count nests, and learned a lot from her not only about penguins but all the birds we saw. The crew: our Captain had many years experience and knowledge of the waters, weather and sailing in general. First Mate is also a qualified Captain in Antarctic waters, they actually rotate roles throughout the sailing season. He is currently doing his PhD on Elephant Seals. And he did a presentation on the importance phytoplankton, we helped collect samples for science. The Deck Hand is also an experienced Sailor and she teaches sailing in the UK. The employee of the month? (every month) is the Cook, for 19 days, we were very well fed a variety of delicious meals and he was very conscious of any dietary needs. They all were very hospitable, professional & hard working. When we saw whales; (humpback & orcas) we stopped and watched. We kayaked, hiked, camped on ice and shared many extraordinary sights. We HIGHLY recommend this way to see Antarctica (it’s a sailboat not a cruise ship), if you are adventurous and looking for the most authentic way.

Scientific expeditions in Tierra del Fuego

I am a local scientist based in Universidad de Magallanes (Chile). I have travelled in the Ocean Tramp across Tierra del Fuego fjords for nearly two months (2023 and 2024) and the experience has been superb. Not just because we could carry out all our research goals, but also because of the landscape, the boat, the food and, above all, the friendly and genuine good vibes of the crew. We were able to get to tricky sites thanks to the mastery of the crew and after a day of working onshore, we were always received with a hot and amazing meal in a cozy space. All the rutinary issues of living onboard were rapidly solved and we could focused on doing science, travelled across one of the most amazing scenaries in the planet and having fun. At the end of the trips it felt like leaving your adventurous family behind.

Amazing experience!

In March of 2023 I went on my first month-long scientific research expedition through the fjords of Tierra del Fuego onboard the Ocean Tramp. In March of 2024, I was able to go back and repeat the experience! Both trips were life-changing for me. Our research group was focused on fieldwork onshore in remote fjords along the Beagle Channel. The captain and crew were amazing about getting us into the places that we needed to go. On both trips, we were able to hit all the field locations we hoped to visit. They were extremely well skilled in planning the logistics and finding us safe anchorages for ‘weather days.’ I realize that my time on this boat has been much more extensive than those who have been on the usual 2-week trip. So, I have to say, the food was amazing the whole way through the month both times! On both trips we had some people with dietary restrictions and the cook or crew always worked hard to make a good meal for them, too. The beds were cozy and comfortable. I had the lower bunk in the bow both times, and there was plenty of cabinet space to stuff the contents of my duffel bag. It did get damp occasionally, but the crew would often open the hatches a bit and vent it all out while we were out doing fieldwork. Also, the crew seemed genuinely happy to be there. Anytime we were underway and a whale would pop up, whoever was behind the wheel would make sure we all knew! I 100% recommend this company if you’re looking for the real, no-frills, experience. If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to be on a real expedition, this is it!

I travelled with Quixote Expeditions in the Chilean fjords on Ocean Tramp

I travelled with Quixote Expeditions on their expedition sailboat Ocean Tramp. I did one of their specialized trips I’m the Chilean Fjords. I couldn’t have had a better experience with the crew and boat. They made sure we took advantage of every opportunity to land, go out in the kayaks and experience the true wilderness of the wholly undiscovered area. I would go again in an instant on any of their trips.

Scientist approved

I had an excellent scientific expedition on the Hans Hansson thanks to Quixote! I am a PhD candidate studying penguin population trends, and really benefitted from Quixote's program bringing scientists on the cruises to do research. The crew was very capable and knowledgable and went above and beyond to get me to the penguin colonies I needed to conduct my research. I also enjoyed living on the ship and talking to the guests. I can't wait to return to Antarctica on the Ocean Tramp next season for more research!

Best way to sail the end of the world...

I've lived and worked in Patagonia for 25 years... both Chile and Argentina. I've traveled through the Tierra del Fuego Archipelago on all kinds of vessels, including navy ships, yachts, helicopters, and fishing boats... and I've done research expeditions on charters boats for all kinds of reasons, including BBC documentaries... but hands down Quixote is the best operation... in my case on Ocean Tramp. Not only is the comfort and attention first class, but the personalized efforts of crew and staff makes the difference. Plus, there is no option that equals their commitment to also support research and conservation in southern Patagonia and Antarctica. Thanks so much Quixote!!!

Super experience, highly recommended

I've had the chance to board the Ocean Tramp sailing to Isla de los Estados during the expeditions monitoring it's endangered Southern river otter population. A truly unique experience in one of the most pristine environments I have ever been to. A well maintained boat with one of the most professional, supportive and friendly crews I've ever sailed with - Thanks Woj, Ewa and Leandro, it was a real pleasure.
The trip was perfectly planed and prepared, the boat very well maintained and equipped for high latitude sailing and provisioned abundantly for the whole trip. The attention to details making the guests feel comfortable and safe aboard was quite impressive.
The Ocean Tramp is a comfortable and spacious boat for it's size with internal steering, making it dry and safe to sail even in the harsh conditions of the Southern Ocean. While not required, the guests were welcome to take part in the operation of the boat and could learn a thing or two from the crew, definitely a big plus for me being a sailor myself.
Highly recommended if you are looking for an experience more intimate and closer to the nature than the big cruise ships can offer.
For the antarctic trips, the option to avoid crossing the Drake Passage and fly to the King George Island I consider a big advantage of the Quixote Expeditions offering - while the experience from the crossing may sometimes be intense, it can hardly be good. Been there, done that :)

Amazing personalized experience!

Travelled with Quixote Expeditions to the Chilean Fjords. It was an amazing and unique experience being on such a small and private vessel instead of a large ship. Due to the size we were able to go to lesser known areas and I felt like I was an original explorer! It felt special to support a small business who really care about you. The days were flexible depending on weather and what we wanted to do- from hiking, sailing, searching for wildlife or cooking with ingredients caught from the sea or glacial ice for our drinks! Bathing in a fresh water glacial shower was a rush! The owners are passionate about the education and sustainability. I was able to participate in citizen science and collect water samples in tiny corners of the world which would be analyzed for microplastics. It was not just a vacation but as special meaningful experience.
Would highly recommend Quixote expeditions and I hope to travel with them to Antarctica!
