netball review

Part of a netball league with friends, while we know one another, most teams are strangers who signed up and have become friends. Games are clear and well organised

The best social netball in London!

Fantastic way to meet other people in London! I had zero experience and have now signed up for my third season - super fun, affordable, a good workout, friendly umpires and players, and well-kept courts.

Great when games take place – poor organisation and lots of last-minute cancellations

We’ve really enjoyed playing netball with Go Mammoth and the games themselves can be a lot of fun. Unfortunately, the organisation of the league has been quite frustrating at times. We’ve experienced a number of last-minute cancellations or changes, with umpires sometimes not being kept in the loop, as well as umpires arriving late or not having the information they need.

The latest situation has been particularly disappointing, with our league being repeatedly delayed at short notice (it's now been pushed back by six weeks) and very little information or support around finding an alternative. We completely understand that issues can happen, but it would be nice to see more proactive communication and help when they do.

Overall, we’ve had some great experiences, but given the cost, we’d expect a much more reliable and better-organised service.

Took a punt and still playing after 5 years

Joined a new sport (netball) in 2021 as an individual matched with ither individuals. 5 years later I'm still playing with one original, and others who joined along the way (as others had to move on). Social and exercise benefits are worth giving social rec sports a go!

GoMammoth sports.

I play in a team outdoors. It's every week apart from 3 weeks off at Christmas. (Rounders is weather permitting and only in the summer months). A season involves playing each of the other teams at your location and then having a playoff.
Great for exercise. Teams are competitive but members are friendly, Referees are professional.
GoMammoth are available and will reply if you contact them.

If you can use a different company than Go Mammoth, do it

Go Mammoth are very slow and non responsive with providing information to the teams participating in the competitions. We waited for 3 weeks before our competition started after they delayed it with no direct communication providing a reason

There was even one instance where our game was cancelled but they did not communicate that to us at all. My team all travelled down to the courts (some travel 1 hour) to find out that it is cancelled. If other teams forefit the games this should provide a credit onto our team's account, this has not been put through all the time, we always need to remind them and fight for it

The lights down at our playing ground, some are broken so provide dark areas of the court. This has been highlighted to Go Mammoth from our amazing ref but they have not done anything on it

Go mammoth netball is great

Go mammoth netball is great. You really do just need to turn up as everything else is sorted for you which is great for a sport like netball. Refs are great, other teams are of a similar level and is so fun to play again with friends and also meet new friends. Highly recommend 🙌🙌

Despite head office, some good dodgeball

Go mammoth dodgeball leagues are very hit and miss. A good league is largely down to the volunteers, the players, and if you’re lucky a good ref. Despite the numerous failings of gomammoth head office, poor organisational skills, inadequate and often tone deaf scheduling and booking of courts , I’ve managed to have some really good times playing dodgeball and made some lifelong friends.

Delays, Cancellations, Poor Organisation

I first signed up to play basketball with GoManmoth in January of this year. It is now August. I have been able to play 6 (yes, six) games. The reasons for this were as follows:

- The first league I signed up to was cancelled due to a lack of sign ups, and I was then moved to a league in a different location on a different day.
- The beginning of the first season (supposed to start in January) was delayed until mid March because GoMammoth could not find enough sign ups. This was not one big delay, however, the league start date was repeatedly delayed by 1-2 weeks, leaving players in limbo.
- Games were frequently cancelled at short notice, with GoMammoth citing venue issues.
- When we were finally able to begin playing, the season was cut short due to the venue supposedly being used for exams.
- Despite the above, I did enjoy the actual games and so signed up for a second season, assuming that perhaps I had gotten unlucky the first time around.
- The new season was meant to begin 30 June. It is now 8 August. The same pattern as the first season has emerged again. Repeated delays of 1-2 weeks, almost like clockwork. In fact, I believe it has been delayed 6 times to date and there is no end in sight.

I must say that I did enjoy the games that I actually got to play. My fellow players were great people, the refs were fair, and the games were good fun. In addition, GoMammoth staff have always replied quickly and cordially when I have posed any queries.

The purpose of GoMammoth, however, is to provide an easy way to play sports. Their marketing centres around an ideal of “you just pay and turn up, we take care of the rest!” From my experience, GoMammoth are completely incompetent in sourcing players, organising venues, and gauging which leagues are viable. They don’t remove any of the stress from the experience of organising games, and if anything, increase it.

My advice to anyone considering GoMammoth is not to bother, and instead look for local leagues where the people organising them are adept in recruiting players (or have a committed existing player base), and have an established venue.

Poor Organisation

Such a shame I'm going against the generally positive reviews. I have had two experiences with Go Mammoth, both awful. Dodgeball league, I signed up and they kept pushing back the start date of the season. I could not make the new dates and they were very reluctant to refund.

Recently I've signed up for a rounders league. They have reduced the season length from 8 weeks to 6 weeks, because apparently ''fading light in September'' is a surprising discovery to them. Again, making it awkward to claim a refund for the extra two weeks.

Disappointing and needless stress. Contrary to the positive reviews, I wouldn't recommend.

Consistent

Very accessible leagues with plenty of options.
Some of the organisational/communication side needs some improvement such as delays in start date without communication, but generally, the regular umpires are good and games are consistent within the leagues.
