The worst de i have ever seen

The worst de i have ever seen. The de marks code as faulty that is not faulty, the de breaks increadebly fast, requireing god level knowledge to make it work again. Sitting here for 40min waiting for the de to finally start compiling, no consol outputs are given. Maybe its useable when you got a lot of experiece, but to beginers the de is so infalted with random, bad features that it is like clearing a minefield by walking through it. The amout of coding to fixing the de is like 1:9.
would not use at all, ifnot force to

VS Code from Microsoft is fantastic for Python programmers

Microsoft is a company to both love and hate depending on which service you use.

Microsoft visual studio, or VS code, as it is known, is one of those services that I really love.

I'm probably not really doing justice when I call it an editor for writing code. It goes 100 miles beyond that. I think they call code editors IDEs.

I haven't really compared VS code with any other IDE, except Jupyter, on which I started around nine months ago. I wish my teacher had not started me on Jupyter, but instead straight into the VS code that would've been much better.

Having used VS Code for some six months I can say it is absolutely excellent. The programmers have left no stone unturned in terms of things you might want or need. All the annoying types of buggy things that you find in other programs, which you wish we're not there have been programmed out or modified so they don't annoy you in VSCode. Whoever built this has done an excellent job and thought of everything. It is really a finished and complete program that is more than I could've dreamed of.

If only Microsoft could make their awful Cloud and Azure experience 10% as good as VS Code they would have me buying their shares.

Visual Studio Code is great for most things

Visual Studio Code is fast, easy to use, and very lightweight. It doesn't have some of the bells and whistles of heavyweight IDEs like Intellij Ultimate, but there are plugins for most things you can think of, and because it's not 4GB, it's a lot faster.

The documentation is a bit thick and confusing and could really use a good, serious editing for completeness and ease of understanding. Get a good tech writer who can write plain English to rewrite it please. There are also a lot of holes in the documentation.

But still, I use this editor 70% of the time.

A terrible Blazor experience

I have spent the last six months rewriting an application in Blazor using VS 2022. I consistently encountered time consuming problems. The code editor and debugging have been the primary pain point. Debugging with the hot reload feature will fail and force a rebuild for about half of my changes. The code editor is very inconsistent and will indicate errors even though the application compiles without error. Syntax highlighting an intellisense will stop working and require various project cleaning, cache clearing, and VS restarts. Updates take me 90+ minutes to complete. It is a very complex product with more features than any single person would use, so they offer ample opportunities to provide feedback. Unfortunately I don’t have the time to take to write up all the different issues I have with the application. I will just try switching to a different IDE and hope for better outcomes.

Good features

I sort of like the UI, although I would've preferred theconsole to be slighlty larger. The ability to have add-ons gives a seamless experience with workflows and I am guilty of often using their version control GUI than manual "git push" (sorry boss!).

Can't really fault it

Can't really fault it, of course it has it's faults but much less than other similar IDE's, still the best at what it does which you would expect from a massive company like Microsoft
