Avoid IWG Plc Brands – SPACES, HQ, Regus, others – at All Costs – Fraudulent, Incompetent, and Stressful

Spaces and their parent company IWG Plc, as well as other brands under IWG like Regus and HQ are beyond incompetent. I am increasingly convinced they are running a scam. Don't believe the ratings here. Just google them.

IWG Plc, the parent company of Regus, Spaces, HQ, and other workspace brands, is nothing short of a nightmare to deal with. What used to be respected names in the industry, like Regus, have been dragged down to unimaginable levels of incompetence and dishonesty under IWG’s management.

I signed up for services with a few of these brands, and for over two months, all but one have completely failed to deliver basic contracted services such as call answering and call forwarding. Despite their inability to provide the services they sold me, IWG insists on billing me monthly and refuses to allow early termination of the agreement, even though they are blatantly not upholding their end of the contract.

Their billing practices are beyond unacceptable—they’re fraudulent. Here’s what I’ve experienced:

- Random charges to my card, on random dates, with random amounts.

- Duplicate charges for the same invoice.

- Erroneous late-payment notices, even when the charges were made automatically by them.

- Despite admitting to their billing errors, they refused to remove false charges and still automatically bill for them.

- Tickets not answered at all now for over a month.

It’s hard to see this as anything other than intentional. Their billing system isn’t just buggy; it feels designed to steal as much money as possible from their customers.

I’ve now had to engage lawyers in two countries and contacted consumer protection authorities to deal with this scam. If any journalist wants to uncover the true extent of IWG’s malpractice, I have plenty of evidence and horror stories to share.

If you’re considering using any of IWG’s brands—Regus, Spaces, HQ, or others—don’t. Save yourself the stress, the frustration, and the financial losses. Find any other workspace provider that isn’t associated with IWG Plc. You’ll thank yourself later.

Edit: A Regus representative below replied with the statement to indicate their intention to "quickly assist" and noting that I could use the online account for some of these actions. Sounds so professional, right? Just to clarify, for those that might still be weighting working with IWG Plc: None of the services that I am paying for (being fraudulently charged for) are actually shown under my account. There is nothing I can do about any of these problems online. The customer service is simply not responding to my tickets. I managed to escalate with direct emails to relevant city managers even country managers, and they simply refused / are not able to to address the challenges I highlighted above. For over 2 months now.

Edit 2 - 19 Dec 2024: The representative just updated their response to say that they cancelled the account and refunded the money. That's not completely true. There is one location that still doesn't work (3 months in!!!) and which never offered any refunds or credits for the fact that they've been taking my money for 3 months without providing the service. To make it worse, the other location for which they indeed refunded the money, is now automatically charging my card for all the old (refunded) invoices as they are now showing as "unpaid". So they refunded the money, but haven't cancelled the account, removed old invoices, and/or removed the credit card details from their systems and the invoices and payments for the "cancelled account" are still going on. While I appreciate that the TrustPilot review finally triggered any response, I wouldn't quite called it a resolved problem just yet.

Edit: 3 Feb 2025: Update, few months after the customer service confirmed that the account is cancelled and no more charges will happen - today they charged my card for $620. After they ignored my emails over the last few months telling them that their system is still charging my card...

IWG Plc, Regus, State Street, and all other brands under the IWG Plc. are beyond incompetent. It is a scam. This is a business that focuses on stealing money from their victims without providing the paid service. Save yourself lots of trouble and money, and never deal with them.

Edit: 7 Mar 2025: Update, after the last month's unauthorized charge of my cards, the company promised me a refund. It's now one month later and there is no refund yet. In the never-ending saga with this group of companies, they yet again are proving that they are nothing but scammers.

Hello Marin,
I apologise if you haven’t received the level of service that you’d expect from Spaces although your comments related to “scam” and “fraud” are inaccurate and unfair.
We know that your IT setup is key to your business, and we worked hard to ensure any technical issues were fixed as a matter of urgency. Unfortunately, it appears that our external telephony service provider was unable to complete actions from their side which in turn impacted you and us in the service you received. We have since cancelled this account and refunded you. We apologise for your experience and will investigate this with them directly.
I am pleased that you are happy to continue with your remaining two accounts with us as they do not have any issues.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Best regards,
Lorraine Brule
