Skio was great to work with and we had the opportunity to land a remix for Bonnie x Clyde through their remix contest. Highly recommend checking them out.

Very satisfied to take part in a remix competition. With free trial I could download stems and had lot of fun remixing the track. Patiently waiting for the results!

I've been on Skio since 2017.Music…

I've been on Skio since 2017.Music production and remixing in aprticular is my main hobby. Never been on the site with certain expectations or ego...And still, after unexpectedly hitting a third place on there and subsequent release, I ammassed over a quarter million steam on spotify alone. Just goes to show that even a die hard bedroom producer with no dreams can achieve big things there. Have there been tech issues here and there. sure. Do they get fixed, always. is everything perfect? no, but they keep working to streamline the site and processes. Did it swap from a fully free to paying model. Yes. but running a business costs money and for the joy I'm getting out of it, the connections I'm making etc. it is very reasonable. Happy user here

Being harassed on their website! SKIO don't care

I'm being harassed by users on there leaving rude and uncalled for comments on my tracks, I've contacted support multiple times but never heard back from them.. they just let users harass other members, and write whatever they want to abuse people.

awful

awful. I keep trying to log in to cancel membership but it won't let me in without first verifying my email... they email my email address with the code many hours later at 5am... they've done this every night for the past three nights so I'll try through the day tomorrow at work to see if I can get it to send within a better timeframe... I've also started receiving scam calls from international numbers since signing up... It could be a coincidence but I doubt it...

Dont waste your music on this scam site, go somewhere else.

They are running organised remix contest scams, where you need to pay to gain entry.
As an experienced musician I listen to all entries and I can tell you that the top 3 winners are shocking in comparison with the rest of participants.
How "this track name" can even make it top 1?
I dont know whats going on with this company, but something smells not right. Stay away.
Look who won Hardwell contest, a popular youtuber!!! WTF, Wildcrow won! why is allowed in the contest anyway? Smells...

Once a good site years ago

Once a good site years ago, is now just a milking farm to take your monies for little or no return.
The comps are dubious, to say the least, winners with 2nd-rate productions. Some of the winners are very sketchy.even after you pay you still need to pay more to get the whole stems pack, after reviewing other reviews on here, it is plain to see this site is a con and and a stain on the music industry with their robbing practices and rigged comps, avoid, so much tech out now you can remix any tune you want and can avoid these clowns

These people are wack ass hucksters

DON'T PAY FOR SKIO!

Honestly they are a scam, like 5+ years ago when it first came around they actually had some decent tracks available for remixing - not alot but some. Now it's all just a bunch of artists that nobody ever heard of, that also are kinda like mids quality - esp with regards to like lyrical content.

Also, if you do actually register for an account and pay for that shit, whenever you decide to stop paying for the subscription they cut you off completely - so like all the credit and shit that you might have built up over time is just gone. Such BS, complete hucksters.

Complete and utter scam

Complete and utter scam. They even go as far as blocking people on instagram who call them out for their fake contests. Absolutely gross behavior and should be sued.

Became a SUBSCRIPTION. Pay to win.

Few days into this website, I thought it's good as they say, compete for remixes with stems they'll give you... Boom, only 3 stems are free, the rest behind a paywall.

Now here comes an Elohim remix contest, midways I had an e-mail from them telling me I need to take their 1 week trial and I'll be charged money after that period on my credit card (I don't have one :P).

And I'm shocked how SKIO used to give all stems for free back then, if it weren't for you guys I wouldn't know. I guess we are all better off remixing unpopular contests that pays exposures with all stems available instead of this rubbish lmfao

SKIO Music? More like GREEDY Music

Been using SKIO Music since I've uploaded my first remix in October 2021, and until August 2024, any user could download all the stems from those ZIP files containing them for free; I had already complained in the past, this because of their upload system, as I missed one upload on one of their remix contests and it got closed because I was close to the deadline.

However, on the aforementioned date, everything went downhill as I was feeling excited to remix Dua Lipa's "Illusion", but NO WAY, ONLY 3 STEMS COULD BE DOWNLOADED FOR FREE, WHILE THE OTHER 24 WERE BEHIND A PAYWALL!

I felt this as an impediment to have a good quality remix, especially when it comes to the need for vocal chops, which weren't available for the free users; even my own remix doesn't sound good without these vocal chops unavailable for me as a free user.

So yeah, locking the rest of stems decreased the creativity in a notorious way, and only those who would pay for the monthly or yearly subscription could have a higher advantage over those who only could pack these three free stems.

The same goes to the Warren Zeiders' remix contest, where 20 of the 23 stems are locked behind a paywall, and since most remixes are composed of the original sound effects and vocal chops, this causes remixes to sound kinda "empty" compared to those including such sound effects.

I had quitted uploading to SKIO Music because of the results: the EDM and house remixes almost always reigning the first three places, but then decided to come back after seeing that they were going to do the David Guetta remix contest; this was the last one to let anyone download all the stems for free.

Even though I made it within the top 75 users in a certain period, which I forgot, I'm planning to stop participating in these contests in the future and better contact musicians to send me their song stems so I can remix their song and get my remix officially uploaded to streaming platforms.

I've rated this with two stars instead of one as remixing songs was one of my dreams as an electronic musician, and discovering this website made me enhance/improve my musical creativity until where I'm at right now =^)

Skio is a complete waste of time

Skio is a complete waste of time. They give out remix stems (a good thing), then hide most behind a paywall (a bad thing). What IS useful is that most of the time if you search, for example, 'Dua Lipa Illusion Remix Stems', the top result is in fact someone who has downloaded them all and then provides them for free, so that's a bonus I guess.
They disallow the use of your own remixes on Soundcloud, which is where most, if not all, producers get ears on their music. Avoid at all costs.

Hiding most of the stems in remix…

Hiding most of the stems in remix contest behind paywall is the new low. I never seen that kind of money grab attempt anywhere else and I had tried quite plenty of remix contest platforms. Deleted my account after an hour of usage.

Psychologically Manipulative Practices

Had to sign up for a paid account just to submit a remix to their contest. When contest closed for judging I was placed in the Top 100, which I felt was a bit high but still, was a nice confidence boost for somebody like me with low self-esteem.

However, as I've now found out, the automated system is completely misleading to the point I'd have to even ask why does it exist other than to manipulate people into your myriad of paid services? Went from Top 100 to Bottom 100, automated review scores were off by 10-20. per category and around 900 off by placement.

As an up and coming artist, I am keeping in mind how sites like this treat people, especially their customers, and if this is the way they treat people on their site then I won't be doing business with them anymore, now or ever.

Already deleted my account. Will be telling other artists and friends not to deal with this site, and to tell them to warn their friends as well. Making money is one thing, but psychologically manipulative practices are something I can't and won't tolerate.

I never expected to win the contest, just entered it to have fun, but nothing fun about getting ones legs cut out from under them by going from Top 100 to Bottom 100, with zero explanation as to why the ratings were so drastically different to the point of psychological whiplash. Absolutely horrible business practice, and horrible thing to be doing this day and age to people that may be psychologically vulnerable.

Also I have the receipts (screenshots) of the ratings and rankings pages showing no indicator that the scores may be inaccurate or are placeholders, and the only part that either page says is automatically generated is the listeners section on the bottom half of the ranking page. It never says anything about the other numbers being grotesquely inaccurate or placeholders, including on the score page where nothing is mentioned.

No Future.

Hello, World...

1) Since the end of 2023, skio only takes a certain number of "Uploads"(300 to 500) and you have to agree that you don't will let others peoples than Skio hearing your remix. If (it was my case) they reach the total they wanted, you end up with a remix only you can hear!!!
2) Since 1 week i can't sign in with my (G)Mail on Skio. First, i try to login with another computer that is, or so, under Linux (latest debian 12.5 Bookworn with the latest Firefox) but it did'nt work. I then try to get in with Microsoft Windows 10 with Firefox too, and gess what...does'nt work at all. I try to write to them to have an explanation about, but like always on Skio, "no answers". Now i have no clue on how to cancel my subscription with them cause this time they completely loose my trust an them.
Chrys.

P.S.: I can sign in again, and finally deleted my account. Don't forget to delete your music too.
