Really disappointed
Really disappointed with both Air France and Hertz over a recent car rental booking — and we’re still fighting to get this resolved.
We booked and paid for a prepaid rental through Air France, which was actually recommended on their website. Everything seemed straightforward, but when we arrived to pick up the car, Hertz refused to release it due to conditions that were never clearly explained during the booking process.
Since then, it’s been incredibly frustrating. Air France says it’s Hertz’s responsibility, and Hertz says it’s Air France’s. We’ve been going back and forth between the two with no solution, no accountability, and still no refund — despite paying in full for a service we never received.
It honestly feels like once something goes wrong, neither company is willing to step up and help, and you’re just left stuck in the middle trying to sort it out yourself.
We are still actively trying to resolve this, but based on our experience so far, I would strongly advise others to be very cautious when booking third-party services through airline platforms. Personally, I wouldn’t use Air France for this again, and I’d think twice before using Hertz as well.
Charged a full week's rate for a 4-day…
Charged a full week's rate for a 4-day rental (Friday 6am–Tuesday 4am) — that alone makes this experience unacceptable.
On top of the overbilling, the final price came in $220 over the online quote due to fees that weren't disclosed at booking. I also requested toll coverage, but it was never added to my plan — meaning I'm now looking at a $10/day surcharge on top of whatever actual toll charges accumulate, with no one available at return to address it.
Operationally, this location is severely understaffed. At 6am there was only one person working the counter, making check-in painfully slow. That agent also told a customer flat-out that they were lying when the customer said the upstairs counter was unstaffed and a sign directed people to the lot — I personally saw that same sign and the same empty counter, so the customer was telling the truth.
At return, there was no one available to check in the car, and it took 12 hours to receive a receipt. The self check-in process also gave no clear directions on where to pick up the vehicle afterward.
Every touchpoint of this experience — pricing transparency, staffing, customer service, billing accuracy, and return process — fell short. I'd strongly recommend looking at other options at BOS.
AVOID Hertz Dubai
AVOID Hertz Dubai
Would have given 0 stars if it was possible.
AVOID HERTZ Dubai at all costs, hired car in DECEMBER 2025. Then 3 months later in MARCH our Credit Card was used fraudulently used by this company staff. They obviously keep your card information long after your hire. Will show as (Al Futtaim) which is umbrella of Hertz.
Many emails later, still trying to get my money back, had to cancel my credit card. What a bunch of scammers 😢

If I could give negative stars...
If I could give negative stars, I would. I rented through the Naperville West location in IL. We requested a 7 passenger vehicle for a spring break road trip. We show up to pick up our vehicle and we were told that they didn"t have a vehicle yet, come back in 2 hours. Funny, that when we went back 2 hours later, the vehicle had been there 2 hours before, the employee just failed to check the vehicle in timely. The vehicle itself was great, brand new, and lovely. The vehicle was returned on April 3rd. I realized I had never received a receipt, checked my credit card and realized I was continuing to be billed for this rental. I called the rental location several times and got no where. I was told I needed to speak to the manger Daniel and he was not there. I called daily for 3 days, no response. At the same time, I was also calling Hertz corporate costumer service. All the representatives that I spoke to were kind, but all told me the same thing, we have escalated this issue and the rental will be closed out, you will receive a receipt in 24 to 72 hours. This continued for days, me continuing to call back with the same responses. Mind you, never hearing back from the location manager Daniel. Fast forward 13 days and an extra $2000 charged to my credit card, I receive a short and curt voicemail from Daniel, stating he was able to close out my rental and the extra $2000 in charges will be credited. 13 days to do your job is unacceptable. This is just terrible costumer service. I will never rent from Hertz again. It was stressful and completely unnecessary.
On 4/3
On 4/3, I reserved a car and on the morning of 4/4 I was informed that Hertz had overbooked and there was no car available for me..so be it. Upon receiving this call I called the rental facility 3 times to make sure I would not be charged as Hertz was the one who canceled my reservation. On 4/6 I was charged $139.89 for this rental, really?!? If I had not checked you would have taken my money and not said a word, this is unacceptable and honestly is so unethical in practice that it makes me extremely upset. There is absolutely NO way a company of your standing should allow this to happen. Imagine if you were me and someone took $139 from you for absolutely nothing…how would you feel…this is ridiculous and criminal, be better!!!
Protects criminals
I came home to a burglary in progress. A car was in the driveway. The burglar ran to the car, flipped me off and took off. I got a picture of the license plate and the burglar.
I called the police. They said that the car was a Hertz rental. After not hearing anything from the police for two weeks, I called Hertz and spoke to Olivia and Thomas. They would not take any information. I didn't expect them to give any information. They said they would only communicate with the police.
I asked if the police had the same time on hold as I just did to speak with a real person. Thomas said "yes". The police don't have time to spend 30 minutes on hold.
Hertz protects criminals.

It was horrible i saw a spider and a roach
And I just got this rental car
Worst experience ever d
Hertz treats its customers like criminals - see the news articles about Hertz having customers falsely arrested . Hertz tried to do the same to me. Hertz called me today threatening to report me to the police and arrest me for not returning a car when I had already returned it three days earlier. Took hours of going through AI agents and finally a human to get this resolved. Terrible, sloppy service. First car smelled like weed and I had to waste time getting it replaced with another. Worst Hertz experience I have ever had. Wont ever go back. Do not rent from Hertz.
Charged 11 days of rental for a 1 day rental and provided a car with over 107K miles on it
3/13/2026 I rented a Hertz vehicle in Jacksonville Florida where I was provided a Toyota Camry with >107k miles, This vehicle condition was noted as follows : hole in the floor, seat with tape over another hole, a fuzzy steering wheel cover that was not removable, wax written numbers on windshield removal of which seemed unsuccessfully attempted.
When I returned the vehicle I was told they were unable to refund the rental because it was prepaid but they did give me $200 in Car rental Certificates.
I rented another vehicle on 3/25/26 in Raleigh, NC.
that I used rewards points to pay for 1 day of the rental and I intended to apply the $200. in Customer Satisfaction Car Rental Certificates to the $153.32 balance. When I returned the NC rental at approx. 4:30pm on 3/26/2026 the Hertz representative, located inside of the Wilmington, NC airport terminal, stated he was not able to apply the credit and that should have been done at pickup (i was told they would need to be applied at drop off, during my pick up) , he was also unable to provide me a receipt for my return and therefore I asked to take a photo of the log where he documented my return at 4:54pm.
On April 1st I noticed that there was still a hold charge of $654. on my checking account for this rental, at which time i called (and was told that the issue can only be managed via email) and emailed Hertz to inquire as to why this hold charge had not been removed. I did not hear back, other than an autogenerated response acknowledging my email.
On 4/7/26 I noticed another charge from Hertz for $3542.34 charged to my account via apple pay. I again called Hertz and spoke to a representative and emailed once again. I was told by the representative that I was being charged for an 11 day rental.
on 4/14/2026 I received an invoice for tolls incurred in Florida! 2 weeks after the rental was returned.
DO NOT RENT A CAR WITH THIS COMPANY!!!
If I can give this company all around 0 stars I will!! I usually do not leave any reviews but this company had me livid. Customer service was horrible as well!!
I had a horrible experience with them— long story short we made the reservation in January, our trip was in March the morning of pick up they called me to confirm our pick up, went to pick up and got told they did not have anything available for me my only option was to cancel or pay more! NO THANK YOU! That’s why we reserved ahead of time!
First time using them usually use…
First time using them usually use enterprise, total for my rental was 792 final charge I use different credit card to extend it cause I only have a 500 credit limit mind u I paid 304 on one card 134 on another plus the 792 on my credit card two different agents said I had a refund on the 4 an the 11 I didn’t receive nothing they say they only hold funds til u turn rental in yet the 304 an the 134 post never got it back the total for the rental is 792 so why haven’t I received my refund
I would give them negative stars
I would give them negative stars. Don't do their Uber rental partnership. They are AWFUL!!!
NEVER BOOK WITH THIS COMPANY!
NEVER BOOK WITH THIS COMPANY!! If I could leave the stars blank, I would have. Absolutely horrendous company.
On April 2, I made a prepaid reservation for a Nissan Rogue, with pickup at the Orlando Airport and drop-off in Miami. I booked this rental through my All Accor membership, trusting their recommendation of Hertz as a reputable partner. Upon arriving at the rental counter after our flight landed (after 11:00 PM on April 10), I was informed by the front desk employee that my debit card could not be accepted. I was then instructed to change the reservation into my husband’s name and use his credit card. This was confusing and inconvenient, as my husband was physically present with me and could have simply been added as an additional driver. The employee directed me to call customer service to make this change. However, when I did so, I was told that the reservation could not be modified because it was prepaid. This left us stranded at the airport late at night after midnight, with no viable solution provided by the Hertz staff. As a result, we were forced to cancel the original reservation, remain at the airport past midnight trying to resolve the issue, and ultimately leave without a rental car. We then had to pay over $60 for an Uber just to reach our hotel, something that would have been unnecessary had the original booking been handled properly.
Following the phone employee’s recommendation, we rebooked a new reservation online under my husband’s name and credit card. However, the drop-off location had to be changed to Miami Airport because it was the only affordable option available at that point. This is not the location we originally needed, and it has created additional inconveniences for our travel plans.
We travelled back later that day around 1:00 PM for our new reservation and again had significant issues. No where on the reservation does it say to bring a passport. As well, I was not told that we needed to show our passport on the phone when I called in multiple times. It says and we were told to ensure we had our driver's license. We were turned away because we do not have our passports, we left them in the safe at the hotel. We spent $36 via Lyft to get there and now had to leave again and spend another $70 for a round trip to come back and retrieve a rental. At this point, we're spending in Ubers and Lyfts what would have spent on the rental. I AM 21 WEEKS PREGNANT AND THIS HAS CAUSED A LOT OF UNNECESSARY STRESS AND TIME LOST FROM OUR VACATION FOR NO REASON! To add, the employee that we spoke to at the front desk this time confirmed that they could have added my husband to my original reservation the night before and take his credit card so why was my first reservation not honoured? Also, the manager Henry was very rude and did not listen to our concerns. This is absolutely ridiculous! The customer service is incredibly horrendous. If it weren’t for all other rental companies being sold out in this area, I definitely would not have booked again with Hertz, however, we needed the rental. Needless to say, going forward, I will of course NEVER book with this company again.
Additionally, the phone staff consistently disconnect the calls which requires you to continuously call back to resolve the same issue.
This entire experience has been extremely disappointing, frustrating and inconvenient, especially as this was my first time renting with Hertz. I typically use other reputable companies but chose Hertz based on All Accor’s recommendation, something I now regret given the circumstances.
Horrible considering they picked up car…
Horrible considering they picked up car that i had thst was being oaid from insurance , its been 2 weeks ans no ine from corp has called me back, my stuff is missing ir stolen. Dont ever rent here !
Dishonest Fuel Charging Practice
Hertz has started charging for fuel by default, even if you fill the tank yourself and decline their refueling service. Instead of checking the gauge at drop-off, they simply add the charge to your bill and put the burden on you to prove otherwise. They’ll send an invoice stating you can submit a receipt for a credit, but it feels like a dishonest tactic to drive extra revenue. Heads up: Keep your gas receipts and check your final statement closely.
I reserved a car and paid for it 2…
I reserved a car and paid for it 2 months before rental with a debit card. When picking up car I had to leave a 500$ deposit refundable which was fine. But because it was a debit card they wanted to do a credit check on my credit report. That is BS. That needs to be clearly spelled out ahead of time!! They were fine using my debit card to pay the 465$ 2 months in advance. Never again HERTZ!! You SUCK!!
We need a car earlier than we excepted…
We need a car earlier than we excepted and we had a reservation at Avis. We could not change it, so we went to Hertz. We had a car asap, pick up at the airport - contract signed and away we went. The car was not "clean" outside by we need it would be dirty again so we accepted. The car was good. We returned the car one week later, same good service as when we got the car.
I rented a car for a personal trip and had a lot of my time wasted
I rented a car for a personal trip. I arrive at the airport, no cars are available so somehow they took the reservation but did not keep the reservation. They told me to sit and wait. I waited about 30 minutes and went back to the desk and said I'd cancel and just uber. They then magically had a car for me. All good. Then, I go to return the car; I refuel it to full, yet get charged $50.03 for refueling. I then go through trying to talk to a useless chatbot then wait 17 minutes for someone in another land to try and resolve my issue. 35 minutes in, I do get the refund but wow. A lot of time wasted and it feels almost scam like because not everyone checks their receipt. Hertz has really gone downhill and I'm definitely looking for a new rental car vendor. I'm at the presidents club level so I rent a lot of cars.

Made reservations in March for a vehicle at Hertz. Went to pick up the vehicle at the reserved date and time only to find out that they don’t have the vehicle there yet, someone was to return it by noon. It’s 9am. They suggested i call “customer service” to see about picking up the vehicle at a different location. That rep, wish i got his name, said that i could get it from the airport, 30 minutes away, for the same price. He said i had 24 hours to pick up the vehicle and at that point if not picked, my reservation would be lost. I go straight there because i need to get on the road, at this point, I'm already behind my planned schedule. I get to the airport, they can’t find that my reservation was changed to their location and they can’t book another reservation under my name since i still had one at the original location AND they don’t even have the vehicle i needed. I called customer service back and spoke with Nina, i explained everything to her, she placed me on hold saying Northridge has the vehicle. I asked her how am i to trust that, that’s the case, yall just sent me on a wild goose chase, so i asked her to call them and confirm. She said they aren‘t allowed to do that and that she could make the reservation for me. I requested her sup cuz ain’t no way in hell yall can‘t contact them and verify they have the vehicle, yall just told me to come to the airport and it’s not here. She puts me on hold and comes back saying her sup authorized her to call them, she called and they do have the vehicle and the price is now $100+ more. Girllllllllll bye, yall got me running around like crazy when i did what i was supposed to do. Requeted her sup, blah blah blah my sup will say the same, ok, give me the sup. I speak with Tim #1425316, allegedly, says he can’t change the price. I requested his sup, he doesn’t have one. He just places me on “hold” no music no nothing so i already know this dude just muted the dang phone. He gets back on talking about thanks for holding, pissing me off even more cuz no he didn’t have me on hold, you muted the phone. He says his sup isn’t taking calls and to try again in 30 minutes. At this point, I've been on the phone with yall 1 hour, i can and will hold for that sup. He says i can’t and hangs up..... Where the F is the customer service? Why are we continuing to outsource these companies. Where’s the compensation for NOT holding up to your end of the contract? Oh but God forbid i cancel on yall at the last minute. What do you have to say Hertz? Is this how you all treat customers?
