Simply Don't Waste Time, Just find another Supplier cause you will be switching soon.

Long Story Short : Simply Don't Waste Time, Just find another Supplier cause you will be switching soon.

After a month of back-and-forth with GloBird Energy over unclear tariff windows, an unsolicited $88 meter-reconfiguration fee, and repeated requests for supporting documents that were never supplied, I am lodging a formal complaint with the Energy & Water Ombudsman Victoria (EWOV).

In my experience the company’s pricing information was inconsistent, and customer-service responses from both the frontline and escalations teams did not resolve the core issue. If transparent billing and prompt, factual communication are priorities for you, I would recommend looking elsewhere.

They are so careless and disrespectful to the point that they say "when you complain to the ombudsman they will come back to use and nothing will ever happen". Also somehow they are super reluctant to write something in every review you leave, and don't do anything about it. Purely plays to the audience, and just vanishes. Did not see any acknowledgement happening on their side to date.

Scam!

Scam!! Totally disappointing, at first glance Globirds rates seem great until the massive increase comes after only 3 months. Avoid!

Very disappointing communication…

Very disappointing communication system. Customer service is close to non existent. I called them and was on hold for a long time. I was getting recorded messages stating that I was first in line to be answered. I kept holding and another message came up offering a call back service. All I wanted to do was update my account payment details so as to pay my accounts on time. After a lengthy hold time, I decided to take the call back option. Globird expect you to wait there at their pleasure. I had to go to work and over 3 hours later I received a call back which I missed as I was working. So much for being next in the que! It's clear that they don't want to retain their customers

Stay away from GloBird

GloBird's rates look good, but the reality is far from good. After switching to GloBird, I was surprised to see that my bills were generally higher, and sometimes a lot higher than with the previous provider, despite the GloBird's rates being lower. They always had a purported explanation for it, but it did not make much sense to me.
Then, the real, even bigger problems started happening when, a few months ago I was charged a large "adjustment" amount, which was completely made up and unsubstantiated. GloBird does respond to emails, and I received many emails from them, so it is not the case of them ignoring you, but they simply blame the amount on the network provider and keep trying to justify it, without there being any proper justification for the amount. Some of the period that their "adjustment" amount refers to I was not even the country and there was no energy usage at all.
When I asked for a direct contact with someone at the network provider, they refuse to provide me with such details and simply refer me to the network provider's website. Despite numerous attempts to resolve this matter, I had no other option but to lodge a complaint with EWON.

Can't be trusted.

My bills went crazy around the cost of living crisis so didn't think to reference other provider prices or even other plans by this provider. I assumed everyone was suffering through massive price hikes for power bills. I had been with Origin forever previously and didn't realize the energy reseller scam was that they just hiking your prices up 12 months after signing up. I thought it was to do with the global price crisis and it would come down later.

When I got a solar install this week and started looked at new plans to suit I realised my current kWh rates weren't far off double the rates they are signing up new customers for. I have been slyly ripped off by around $2000 at quick guess in the past two years. I should have just stayed with origin and paid a marginally higher rate than these cheap shonky deals. I just want to set and forget and not have to police the honesty of a provider.

I have been paying 44c a kwh as a flat rate but they are advertising 27c as a flat rate today when I looked. My controlled load is 38c kwh while they are advertising today at 22c. My plan had the best prices on the market when I signed up.

To add to this I had called up customer service a number of times in the past two years about the cost of my bills wondering if something was wrong with meter readings etc but at no point has anyone working recommended that i change plans with them at all as the key cause of my high power bills and that I was paying 20c a kWh more than I needed to be. Don't believe the marketing they don't give a stuff about anyone, they are just looking for people who don't think to police their providers for exploitation and set and forget and pay invoices without questioning it. I don't understand how their ratings are higher than the other rip off merchants.

Their billing cannot be accurate

Have been getting bills of around $350 a month for a two person household. Circumstances in the house then changed by the following factors:
- House reduced to one person and lost the person who worked from home 4 days a week, had up to three showers a day and constantly used the heater.
- Person left in house went from being at home most days, to being away from the house up to 12 hrs a day.

New bill comes through and I'm expecting it to be at a minimum half the cost, instead it's still $300. Something is just not right with their billing but I have no way to dispute it.

They offered the best electricity rates…

They offered the best electricity rates when I initially signed up with them. Got a notice in June 2023 my rates were going up from July - from $0.7040 to $0.8690 per day (supply charge), and from $0.2750 to $0.3960 (per kWh). A few months later I tried seeing if they had cheaper plans - well first of all, they don't let you check rates online for your address if you're already with them. So I used the address of another apartment in my block and saw both the supply charge and p/kWh rates on the same plan I was on (Glosave plan) were LOWER than what I was being charged. Another plan (Boost plan) had even lower rates still, so I called and changed to that plan. I received another rate notice in June 2024 advising my rates were going from $0.7700 per day to $0.94600 per day (supply charge) and $0.29920 to $0.38610 (per kWh) so I did a comparison on energymadeeasy and switched. Also their monthly billing is a bit annoying because they use estimates, I'd prefer to pay bills quarterly using the actual meter readings. They do allow you to submit your own meter readings but I can't access the meters in my apartment block.

Dodgybird did the same to me

Dodgybird did the same to me, no increase for 12 months apparently, within a few months 25% increase, way more expensive than I was paying, they can pull out the excuse book as much as they like, it’s a typical power company scam

Dam Bird Lied to me.

Just signed up with them for a cheaper deal on my electricity, a supposed twelve month plain and now today a few months in they e-mail me threatening a massive price increase that would put me back worse off than if I had never heard of them. When I phoned up originally to sign up I was told there was no price review for twelve months yet here we are not even six months later.

Low prices to start then hit with an increase

Their business model is based on a SCAM. Low prices to lure customer in and then a 50% increase in rates!
Easy solution to this, contact your relevant state’s OMBUDSMAN who will charge these crooks a fee to review your complaint

Adding electricity

Already has gas, now switching electricity to them too! Previous electricity company (not going to name them) left a bad taste in my mouth, VERY expensive! But Globird has much better rates, and giving a discount for package. They thought they could match GloBird's prices but couldn't... even with a 27% discount!!! I have to pay a small price ($2.50) to still receive paper bills, but well worth it. And they bill monthly so much easier to get a breakdown of costs and usage.

My bill went from $79 to $375 so i contacted customer service advised them that this cant be possible especially since I had been overseas for one month and no one was home to use the gas. Round and round we went but at the end of the day i was forced to pay the $375. I have just come back from overseas again to find another bill for $49 for the period i was overseas. I called their customer service who were so rude to me and told me that the bill amount was correct so take it or leave it. I decided to leave it and moved to another supplier.

Alex from the Customer Service Team is an asset to this business, I have emailed many questions and Alex was very polite with the answers and responded in a timely manner, with my previous experience with other electricity providers, most of my questions were not answered which is why I change providers.

Another RIP OFF Company....STAY FAR AWAY FROM!

Please don't believe their so called cheap rates, made a HUGE HUGE HUGE mistake trusting them and switching and my bill went from $299 for the month with previous electricity provider up to over $195+ for just 12 days, even though they claim on their website you get cheaper prices, STAY FAR AWAY from them unless you want to learn the hard way, be EXTREMELY careful or learn the hard way! And avoid moving both electricity and gas to the same company, they will RIP you off, extremely disappointed and unhappy that I made the stupid stupid mistake of TRUSTING them! Even though only there is 2 people at home and our house is small, their RIP off rates said 5 person household uses about 24.40Kw and even though we are just 2 people they said our usage at 70+kw per day (close to maybe 13-15 people household) for just 12 days $195+ BILL.....take about a HORRIBLE RIP OFF company! Bitterly disappointed and will NEVER forget this ever! Will NEVER ever trust an electricity or gas company ever again!
