COMPLETELY A SCAM

COMPLETELY A SCAM:
I had one of the worst moving experiences I have ever had with Bellhop. This is by far the worst moving company I have ever hired.

First, fewer movers showed up than I paid for. On top of that, they arrived 15 minutes late. What was even more disappointing was that it became obvious almost immediately that they had little to no experience performing professional moves.

At no point during the booking process was I informed that Bellhop would subcontract the job to another company. I specifically hired Bellhop because I expected a professional moving service. Instead, two individuals arrived in a U-Haul truck, wearing no uniforms, with no indication that they represented Bellhop. They had no professional moving equipment, no packing materials, no dollies or proper tools to safely move furniture.

The lack of experience was evident throughout the entire move. They struggled with basic moving techniques, handled my belongings carelessly, and even damaged parts of the property by hitting walls and other structures while moving furniture. This level of unprofessionalism is completely unacceptable.

I paid for a professional moving company and received an inexperienced subcontracted crew that was completely unprepared for the job. This feels misleading and deceptive. If Bellhop outsources jobs to inexperienced contractors without informing customers, that should be clearly disclosed before booking.

I cannot recommend Bellhop to anyone. My experience was extremely disappointing, stressful, and far below the level of service that was promised. I feel that I paid for a professional moving service but received something entirely different. Based on my experience, I consider Bellhop's business practices to be misleading, and I would strongly advise others to look elsewhere for a reliable and professional moving company.

DO NOT USE BELLHOP

Unreliable, disorganized, terrible at communicating. I booked them for my cross-country move, quoted at $9000. Two days before the move, one of the moving companies they hired for my move called me asking me for information that Bellhop should have provided. It made me feel very unsettled. Night before my move, Bellhop calls me to say their driver canceled and won’t be there at 8am, but could be there at 2pm or come next day. Unacceptable as I had booked a weeks worth of hotels across the country, based on the delivery timeline they gave and I agreed upon a month prior. This resulted in me needing to find a solution for them so that a driver could come at 2pm. I got a friend arranged. Driver arrived 12:30 “because he didn’t feel like waiting until 2”, further making my end have to scramble to accommodate.

Additionally, the movers they hired treated my things like garbage. Multiple scrapes and dents in my furniture. Broke a leg off of one item. Ripped the handle of a cloth bag. Riffled through my armoire and rearranged my packing, leaving behind one of their own jackets along with a clearly dropped-and-dirty personal item that they shoved into my underwear drawer, blackened with filth.

Bellhop has made it SO DIFFICULT to even talk to them about this. Zero reparations have been done. So that’s why I’m leaving them terrible reviews.

DO NOT USE THEM

Absolute Nightmare!!!

Let me start by saying, Bellhop is not a professional moving company. They are an agency that hires people willing to move you. They do not have moving professionals on staff. They are the equivalent of hiring someone to hire your friends to move your stuff for pizza and beer. Let me explain….

We originally hired them because I am a disabled Veteran with severe back issues. Moving heavy things, like furniture, will lay me out for several days after the fact. So this seemed like a good idea, man were we wrong.

The morning of the move, the “driver” showed up without a truck. He’d parked it at the bottom of our driveway. He claimed he could not get the truck up the driveway, told us to reschedule with the company and left. We called the company. We were immediately told it was our fault and that it would cost several hundred additional dollars to reschedule, or $900 to cancel the service all together. That ended that conversation. Shortly after the truck and driver left, three men showed up to load the now non-existent truck. They had no information other than to show up and that they would be paid (according to them) by the homeowner (us). They said they normally get paid $100 each plus $100 for gas. I called the company to see what was up with this. Unfortunately with this company, you get an AI that will deal with you first. The AI, without actually saying it, was telling us the men were trying to extort the money out of us. After much back and forth with the three men trying to get money from us, they eventually left. My wife immediately emailed the original agent who handled our case. In the meantime we went into town to rent, $700 later, a U-Haul truck. Either a new moving truck was going to be in our driveway tomorrow so we could use it as a shuttle, or we were going to move ourselves. Later that night we got a call from a friendlier agent that we'd dealt with earlier in the day. She understood our plight and was at least willing to try to get some people out to not only load our truck, but unload it at the other end. Because of the late time of day (this was 8pm), it might be 10am before someone showed up. Well, 10am rolled around, nobody showed. We got a call at 11am stating nobody could be there til 4pm to load. That was unsatisfactory. We at least got them to secure people to help unload, for $1000. Much to the chagrin of my back, we began loading the truck to the brim. After getting to the other end, there were three men waiting for us to unload. They did a great job. Had the truck unloaded in 30 minutes where it took us three hours to load. While they were unloading we got to talking with them. They’d answered a Craigslist ad: $50 an hour for three hours (minimum) work. Well, since it only took them 30 minutes, the agent that hired them was only willing to pay $40. One of the guys didn’t have a digital money transfer app. The agent sent me the money so I could pay the man his $40.

In short, my wife and I paid a company just over $1000 for 30 minutes of labor, and the laborers only got $120 of…

The rest of my move went like this: I kept the truck for another day. I hired one of the men, at a decent wage ($500 for two days plus lunch both days) to help me move the rest of the stuff. All in all it took two loads in my Jeep, two loads in the 15’ u-Haul truck and two loads in a 12’x8 ‘ enclosed u-Haul trailer. And my back is now going to cause me issues for the next few weeks.

Formal Complaint Regarding Unauthorized Debit by Bellhop, Inc.

I am submitting this complaint regarding an unauthorized debit of $485.47 that was withdrawn from my account by Bellhop, Inc. on or about June 2026.

My company previously performed moving services as an independent contractor for Bellhop. However, our business relationship ended in June 2025, and we have not accepted any jobs, performed any services, or otherwise conducted business with Bellhop since that time.

The withdrawal of $485.47 occurred without any prior notice, invoice, explanation, authorization, or supporting documentation. To the best of my knowledge, neither I nor my company owe Bellhop any money. Throughout our working relationship, Bellhop paid us for services rendered, and there were no outstanding balances or unresolved financial disputes when we ceased working with the company.

Since discovering this debit, I have made multiple attempts to contact Bellhop to obtain an explanation and request an immediate reversal of the charge. Unfortunately, I have been unable to reach anyone capable of explaining the withdrawal or resolving the issue.

I am requesting the following:

1. A written explanation detailing the basis for the $485.47 debit.
2. Copies of any documentation, agreements, invoices, chargebacks, or authorizations that Bellhop claims justify this withdrawal.
3. Immediate reimbursement of the full $485.47 if Bellhop cannot provide valid documentation demonstrating a legitimate and authorized debt.
4. Written confirmation that no further withdrawals will be made from my account without proper authorization.

The fact that Bellhop waited approximately one year after our business relationship ended to withdraw funds from our account without notice is extremely concerning. This action has caused unnecessary financial hardship and raises serious questions regarding Bellhop's accounting and authorization practices.

If this matter is not resolved promptly, I reserve the right to pursue all available remedies, including disputing the transaction through my financial institution, filing complaints with applicable regulatory agencies, and seeking legal counsel regarding the unauthorized withdrawal.

This was the most stressful move ever

This was the most stressful move. I’ve ever experienced thanks to Bellhop moving. They were supposed to show up at noon to unload a truck for me. I got a text saying that they will not be able to make it till 3 PM so we’re there at 3 PM waiting. No one shows up and I try to call but unfortunately you can only leave messages with AI. Finally, I got a response and they said oh yeah they’re not gonna make until 5 PM I kept texting asking for an update from 4:30 to 5 o’clock to make sure someone would show up and nobody ever responded to the texts so I finally received a call from the individual that was handling the move at 5:15 and said that the movers were in the parking lot looking for me so they finally showed up the guys were great. They unloaded the truck and went on their way. It’s quite obvious that bellhop is nothing more than someone sitting with a phone contracting their services out to other contractors that they have no control over whatsoever it’s a horrible moving experience and I highly recommend never using them.

1 Star — Absolutely Horrible Experience with Bellhop Moving

I had an extremely disappointing and stressful experience with Bellhop, specifically dealing with a supervisor named Honey.

My issues began immediately after signing the contract. During my initial booking, I was told my home required two trucks, which was reflected in the original discussion and expectations. Later, after reviewing my inventory, Bellhop changed the plan and told me I would only need one truck.

A week later, concerned about moving cross-country, I called back requesting the originally discussed second truck just to be safe. I was then told adding another truck would cost an additional $7,000. When I declined, the representative casually said they weren’t sure everything would fit and essentially wished me “best of luck.” That should have been my warning sign.

Moving Day Disaster

My move was scheduled for 8:00 AM, and I confirmed multiple times that this time was guaranteed because my home sale closed at 9:00 AM. I was assured repeatedly there would be no issue.

* Movers texted saying they were running one hour late — understandable.
* At 9:00 AM, I received another call saying they wouldn’t arrive until 11:00 AM.
* I explained this was impossible since I legally had to vacate my home.
* I was promised a callback within 30 minutes to confirm details.
No one ever called back.

At 11:00 AM, still no truck. The movers who eventually arrived informed me they were actually scheduled for 1:00 PM.

After calling Bellhop seven times with no answer and no human support (only an AI system), I finally learned the driver had never been scheduled for 8:00 AM and was in another state entirely. He had no idea he was expected earlier.

Because of Bellhop’s failure, I was literally being forced out of my home after closing while it was pouring rain, and I was instructed to place my belongings outside to wait for the truck.

The “Resolution” Was Worse

After five hours of trying to reach someone, supervisor Honey finally contacted me and promised compensation for the situation.

Five days later, I received an email offering $125 back on a $7,000 move — after their errors left me displaced, stressed, and at risk of losing my household belongings.

When I disputed this unacceptable resolution:

* Bellhop temporarily refunded the full $7,000 to my bank account,
* Then two days later withdrew the money again without proper resolution or explanation.

Final Thoughts

This was hands down the worst moving experience I have ever had. Poor communication, scheduling failures, lack of accountability, and completely inadequate customer service turned an already stressful cross-country move into a nightmare.

WHATEVER YOU DO — DO NOT USE BELLHOP.
I am sharing this as a genuine warning so other families do not go through what mine experienced.

Horrible movers

The crew that showed up did not wrap anything except the TV which they broke. They scratched up two of my tables and scratched the floor that was at the home we moved into. They will only pay $34 to fix my TV that cannot be fixed because its broken inside of the TV. The TV needs to be replaced. They refuse to pay for the repairs on one table because they said it didn't match the description that we sent. Just because they dont make that table any longer. I would not recommend them to move anyone because they did not do what was explained to us and will not stand behind their word. If you're looking for a mover dont use them.

I had an extremely disappointing…

I had an extremely disappointing experience with Bellhop Moving. They moved me in back in February and caused a massive ~massive gouge in my hardwood floors right at the front entrance — the first thing you see when you walk in.

What’s worse than the damage is how they handled it afterward. I’ve spent the last three months going back and forth with them, and it’s been nothing but delays, excuses, and runaround. At this point, it feels like they have no intention of taking responsibility or making it right.

If you’re considering using them, just know that if something goes wrong, you may be stuck dealing with a frustrating claims process and zero accountability.

Would not recommend at all.

Dishonest and unprofessional

Dishonest and unprofessional.

I did not receive the services I contracted for. My movers were close to five hours late, unprofessional, and did not bring packing materials. They also did not disassemble or assemble any furniture. They were nir expierences movers and less people arrived than what I contracted for, then they drove into my retaining wall damaging it, damaged the home I was moving into and were unnecessarily careless with my belongings, dropping and slamming down items in frustration. The guys that showed up at the end to help out their friend then spent the whole time complaining and cursing.

After I raised these issues Bellhop agreed to refund me but never processed the refunds. The billing is so messed up they erroneously charged me extra fees.

The billing issues are so bad that their online portal shows a balance due to me for over $3,000

Awful company; awful results. You are better off finding someone on Craigslist, and it would be a better less stress inducing experience.

Late, slow, damaged items, terrible support

Movers were incredibly slow. Had to split my move up into two parts, I used bellhop for one and another online moving company for the other.

Other company: showed up on time, moved everything quickly, not an item out of place.

Bellhop: showed up late, overcharged well beyond my estimate, damaged some items and took three times as long as the other company.

Movers used many small time wasters to run the clock - started billing before the truck arrived (“let me just scan your QR code…”), many “empty trips” without carrying items back and forth into the property, spent 10-15 minutes in the truck between locations.

They damaged items in small & annoying ways. Am I going to file a claim to get $40 after you chipped & scratched the wood on my dresser? Can I make a claim for the plants that snapped in half? They even left some items on the street that they forgot about and I only discovered after they left.

Above all, their customer service is absolutely horrible. Would not wish this on my enemies.

This is the second time I have tried to use bellhop. Both times I had set everything up, paid and received confirmation. Both times nobody showed up. The first time, I finally got a person on the phone and she said “well, I did the best I can do. I can’t help the guys didn’t show up. Yesterday was 4 years later and I forgot I had tried to is them previously. I had an 8 to 9 am window. At 9:30 I’m chatting with an AI guy…. 3 hrs later, a couple guys showed up from a local moving company. Worse run company in the world.

This company is a money grab

This company is a money grab. They promote and offer services of 3rd parties for moving that are NOT background checked and do NOT meet the state required operating authority. All states require a full service mover to have operating authority for household goods moving. Bellhop 3rd partied out a local moving job to a company that has already been cited by NYSDOT as an illegal mover two weeks prior.

We had to move under extremely short notice

We had to move under extremely short notice due to an emergency, and Bellhop was able to meet our needs under these major time constraints. However, our experience with this company’s customer service ever since the move, has been extremely poor.

Firstly, their team, although very kind and helpful, ended up being negligent while moving our new furniture and leaving major, deep scratches in it. After going through their claims process, they were not able to provide an adequate refund to cover the cost of repair. They stated this was due to the choice of insurance coverage, but the problem is, I booked over the phone and never received an option for insurance coverage. It was never even mentioned during the scheduling calls. So please keep that in mind during the booking process.

Secondly, after accepting their offered settlement for the damages, they over-refunded us $19 and are now repetitively asking us to make a payment for our “outstanding balance”. We already paid in full, agreed to a settlement, and they sent us $19 over what was agreed upon and now have the audacity to request us to make this payment and then threaten to send us to “collections” if we don’t.

Unfortunately, we feel very taken advantage of. We were desperate for help in a time of need and they were able to help us, but are now deeply regretful of choosing to work with this company as they continue to show us their incompetence, particularly in customer service.

Bottom line: DONT USE THIS COMPANY. It’s not worth it.

My nightmare with Bellhop Movers

The only reason for the 1 star is because I wasn't able to give zero stars. I have used Bellhop in the past with good success, however this time was a nightmare. The moving team they sub-contracted(they have no actual employees who do the moving) was awful. They were not trained and didn't have the necessary tools to properly do the job. Because of this my furniture and my house were beat up. In addition, it took them twice as long to complete the move which then results in a charge that was twice what they quoted. I have tried to work with them but all you get is automated emails and text and my favorite is the AI assistant "Matt". At this point I have put a dispute on my credit card in an attempt to get them to do something to make this right. I would strongly urge you to use anyone but Bellhop.

UNFAIR CHARGES, BROKEN ITEMS, and ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY

Unfair charges, broken items, and zero accountability

I had a deeply disappointing experience with Bellhop Movers, and I strongly caution anyone considering them.

I paid for three movers, but only two showed up on time. The third mover arrived two hours late, which naturally slowed the entire move down. Despite this being entirely their fault, Bellhop still charged me for a total of six hours, double the time of what was originally estimated as a three hour move.

Let’s be clear:
The move took longer because Bellhop failed to provide the crew I paid for on time. Yet instead of owning their mistake, they passed the cost on to me. Their idea of “making it right”? A measly $83 credit, which doesn’t come close to covering the additional time I was unfairly billed.

To make matters worse, they broke an expensive glass table during the move. Their compensation policy paid out $0.60 per pound, which is frankly insulting and nowhere near the value of the item. This feels less like customer protection and more like a loophole to avoid real responsibility.

Between the late crew, inflated charges, damaged property, and minimal compensation, this company showed a complete lack of fairness and accountability. I trusted Bellhop with my belongings and my money and regretted it.

If you value transparency, professionalism, and fair treatment, look elsewhere.

SCAMMERS

I made the reservation like two months or so in advance and had multiple confirmations including two the day of and ten minutes after they were supposed to be there, they called and said they did not have anyone available… how is that possible??? I made the reservation I paid the deposit and at that point even already paid the full amount! They said they could reschedule it with a 10% discount which may as well have been a middle finger. On that much money 10% is nothing. Especially since they wanted to reschedule for a more expensive day. The way they do pricing changes by day and time. They wanted to charge me for a more expensive day. The day I scheduled was also the last day I could be there cause it was the only thing in their availability that I could have off work and also not pay hundreds extra for. They’re scammers. Do not use them. You can’t just reschedule an entire move. And the guy who called me offered to get his supervisor then came back to the phone and said the same thing. So I said “why didn’t you get your supervisor like you just said you would” and he put me on hold again. Did that three times. Awful customer service. I demanded a refund including the deposit but it’s been a few days and no activity related has occurred. I plan on flagging it as fraudulent activity to my card company. BEWARE
