Don't Expect Decency from GSB
I required a final extension of 6 weeks to a hardship application, to sell my property and pay out a loan with GSB.
They had internally notated "NO TERM EXTENSION" but failed to tell me this on my last two month extension.
They then destroyed my credit rating and refused me to draw down a second loan I had with them. They forced me to pay out both loans in full (that I have held with them for 7 years), leaving me penniless (post costs and a payout to my ex partner) and unable to borrow from another lender.
In 32 years of holding a mortgage, I have never defaulted on a loan payment.
DON'T EVER USE THEM.
Because if you ever require some understanding and support through a hardship period, you will get absolutely nothing from them.
They almost seem to to take glee in one's hardship.
And this dismissive attitude appears to exist all the way up to their CEO Paul Lewis who I emailed directly about this.
No acknowledgement or response ever received, right throughout the dispute.
GIVE GSB A WIDE BERTH.
Just hopeless
Just hopeless. Lots of running around just to close an account.

The lady, whose name I've unfortunately forgotten, went above and beyond in regards to a very tricky situation, and time was not a problem.
Thanks to CUA for making each phone call to your service department a positive experience.
I don,t know why I bother.
I don,t know why I bother.. Another useless app. Have they got the most stupid computer people in Oz

We joined CUA Bank and Private Health with the belief it was owned by the "Members" We now find - by letter that the Bank has been taken over by the Great Southern Bank (NOT really good reports on Google) and
the Private Health taken over by a HBF a Western Australian Company with few agreements with Private Hospitals and Medicos etc in QLD
Afraid that like many of our retired friends we will now be searching for other Institutions with an Australian Eastern Board Focus
Was a loyal customer for 5 years
Was a loyal customer for 5 years. Attempted for 6 weeks to speak to someone about refinancing my home loan. Emails were ignored, phone calls were not returned not even a response to a chat session on their website. Do yourself a favour and avoid these guys at all cost.
Dreadful!
Dreadful!! I just called them and they have no record of one of the 4 international checks I endorsed and deposited last week. That’s just the latest issue. Hoping I can get this issue resolved while on my lunch break tomorrow because the branch hours are so poor.
This lender has no integrity
This lender has no integrity. First, they pre-approved our loan and then rejected providing a final approval, while our financial position improved compared to pre-approval time.
We complained to AFCA and got some compensation.
Then we decided to refinance our home and investment properties from CUA. It’s here where CUA put every possible obstacle so that our refinance would be painful.
Don’t work with these incompetent people.
its a shocker
The worst !
You ask for help or a more competitive interest rate & it's a no can do attitude and no polite communication, just a lot of attitude. Even CUA employees prompt you to lodge an online complaint to AFCA. An easy victory when their lack of clear communication, procedures & lack of record keeping is evident. Currently refinancing, the waiting period of 15 days has been well exceeded. No one, not even a manager can give you any answers, they leave you waiting, It's too hard to bother with your customers. Back to AFCA for every day you exceed your stated 15 days we will seek compensation. We clearly want out.
Mediocre would be a compliment
International transfer took 14 days!!! After number of calls for assistant no administartor could provide any assistance, until on the 14th day a guy tells me that I had to verify the receiver's details, yet no email has been sent or call made, nothing.
Second case, I've been trying to make a local payment to another bank for the past 3 days, however the security code simply never arrives, so payment can not be made, and that was on a friday, so until Monday, no reply on their help line = PATHETIC!
I am with this people for 2 months only, highly regretful, never seen such incappability and incompetence from a financial institution, truly truly Pathetic! Will be taking my business elsewhere asap.
Disappointed with CUA after 5 days
I was recently with CUA as I was extremely hopeful that it would be a good bank to deal with, but after a week I left and was charged $20 after 5 days being with them. I was first told I'd receive a certain rate over the phone by a saleswoman, so it took me a day to transfer everything into CUA. Then the next day I spoke to another person and they had no records that I spoke to someone, even though I presented screenshots of my mobile that I spoke to someone there - they didn't believe me. Then they said they had to investigate and both phone service person, online and a bank manager told me they'd get back to me the next day. After 2 days of calling, leaving messages. A 2nd person got back to me but it was too late, I received a better rate from another bank and then decided to leave after 4 days of being run around. I was unfortunately charged $20 for being with them under 5 days.

Charging me 16$ to cash a cheque in my bank machine while in another province after a 5 day hold and more than enough in my account to cover said cheque is a rip off.taking my money and business elsewhere. Smh
I have banked with CUA from the time…
I have banked with CUA from the time they began. Although they did not have all my banking requirements their service, rates and fees are generally better than the banks. However, I think it is a big mistake to pull out of the main shopping centre of Ipswich. Ipswich is growing fast year by year how could anybody think that is a good idea. I am rather annoyed and will definitely take my business elsewhere. Maybe BOQ would be good because they are actually opening branches. Rates and service is much the same.

I joined the credit union now known as cua when I joined in 1972.
It is my only banking institution.
I have had nothing but perfect banking experience for 48 years.
I trust CUA far more than trust pilot.
Whingers will always be whingers
Beware CUA
I called to reactivate my sons Web Access code (he is only 13) and he forgot it..CUA unable to do so over phone have to go into branch which is miles away, no other option for my son to be able to have any visibility on his account whatsoever and no option to pass any security questions SMS etc to reset other than having to travel into a branch and take him in with Birth cert passport etc to reset or get a certified copy of his birth cert and fill out a form 82 and send it in !!!!! No other bank I have ever dealt with has had such an inflexible and complex system to reset passwords. I have had this experience 2 times in the past 2 years so they are obviously not dealing with this issue even tough
they keep telling me that they are. Beware opening this account for children even though great rates and recommended by Barefoot invester as they are NOT user friendly , if forgetful kids have problems you will have more luck helping them try to get into the Pentagons system than CUA!
Worst banking institution I have been…
Worst banking institution I have been been a customer of. Nothing has gone smoothly since I opened my accounts. Sick of dealing with the incompetent staff and a system that is just flawed. Never again.
Just like the rest - lost their way
When i first join them several years ago, what i like was their community spirit/ethos which made me feel like a valued customer - sadly over the years as they've grown and become increasing arrogant and expensive - they are now just like the big 4. i asked to cancel my policy, rather than processing my request i got a 20min sales call from a patronising, arrogant, argumentative sales member bamboozling me with irrelevant stats, facts and figures doing his best to persuade me not to leave.
after placing a formal complaint i got a half-arsed apology saying sorry you thought our premiums are too high - totally ignored the reason i complained (pushy sales) will now close by bank account with them and support a credit union that values its customers.
Excellent credit union with great…
Excellent credit union with great service and interest rates.
Much better than the big banks that charge customers fees for no service.
