Seriously sketchy rental company outside the Santo Domingo airport. Poorly maintained cars not made for the pothole and speed bump littered roads of Dominican Republic. Rent a good quality SUV from a reputable company at the airport and avoid this location at all costs!
At the counter they refused to honor my credit card car rental insurance benefits even though I printed out the eligibility certificate letter for them. They wouldn’t even look at it. They forced me to pay $23/day USD for their insurance. Their corporate office followed up with me after the rental ended and I shared this with them and sent them a copy of the credit card insurance coverage letter to which they told me that letter was fine and the counter associate should have honored it. But they refused to reimburse or refund the counter insurance fee upsell. Very poor service. Feels like they will scam you for an upsell commission. Beware! Next time I will rent from Budget instead.

The process was very smooth and was handed the keys to my rental after a few signatures and inspection. What I most liked about the service is that the agent that attended me, recommended an affordable vehicle than what I had originally booked. The process on returning the vehicle was also very easy and fast. My overall experience with them was great and I would book my rental with them again in the future!

Do not work with the Querétaro branch! The person at the counter is a fraud, and they steal your money. They do not honor their services. I arrived to pick up the car that had been confirmed to me, and they didn't have it. Then, they wanted to convince me to take a manual/standard car, which I don't know how to drive. After they confirmed they had canceled the reservation on their end to process a refund, I asked for written proof, which they told me they couldn't provide. I called their customer service right then, and they told me what to do over the phone, but to be sure I understood, I asked for a confirmation email. They sent it to me, and now they claim I made it using AI.Now they don't want to give me my refund because the fraudulent man at the counter put in the notes that I was a "no show," that they did have a car, and that I refused to take it. Now the company is relying on the false and fraudulent information he put in to deny my refund. They won't let me communicate with a manager, they don't answer me, and they accuse me of having created the email myself using AI—which I received directly from them, from Alejandro May. The few people who have answered me tell me that they are not going to give me my refund. They are frauds. No one wants to help me, even with the proof I have provided. This tells me that I am not the first or the last person they will try to scam. Giving 2 star so they don’t remove. So far they have disabled instagram reviews and some FB. That’s how crooked they are

SOMEONE CAN DIE DRIVING THESE vehicles! This story gets worse! I rented a car and had just taken off not even 10-15 min driving and we get a flat tire. We had to change the tire and drive back to the agency. The tires were already bad when they gave them. There is no way we were able to get 2 nails that quickly. They charged for a new tire of 242 dollars. So we got a new car. They did steal 2 caps from tires in Mexico City but they charged 280 for them. So besides that they took an hour and a half to check us the 2 people that were there before us also got charged for unnecessary things. One was given a car and halfway to their trip outside the city the ac went out. They couldn’t waste another day driving back to get a new one. They were also charged for a smell and it wasn’t on them. They give out shitty cars that don’t work but they’re charging each customer for them and don’t update them. So after they took a whole hour with those people they finally got to us bc they don’t have staff so we ended up losing our flights. That cost us another 1500 dollars! DO NOT RENT FROM THIS PLACE! I’m giving a 2 star because I read it’s harder to remove than a 1 star.
I also sent them an email with everything and nobody has emailed me back. So they don’t fix any wrong doing they did. ACRNB-126632 that is the reservation number since they write back and act like they’re going to fix anything. Documenting so PROFECO can have all evidence.

I rented a car last January and paid $150 + $99 so that I could go to Guatemala. When I arrived to pick up my car the paperwork was not ready and they said it would take three days to prepare it. I had to drive 200 miles out of my way to Merida to pick it up. They said they would reimburse me for their mistake but I have received nothing four months later. No apologies either.
One of their employees offered me extra insurance for $800 US dollars. When I declined he lowered it to $500!! Like I said, incompetent grifters and thieves.

Price and location were great. The attention and service from employees since reservation, filling the form, and delivery of the car was very kind, warm and efficient. The only complaint I may have is regarding the vehicle. It looks great except for the front tires that were worn out. I only accept the vehicle because of the hour of the night and this is not responsability of the employees; this is from the company. I would rent again.

We arrived at the meeting point first, then other people arrived, and there was favoritism shown to us. We were given priority because we were left until last, even though we had arrived first. It was only because other people had rented cars before us that they were given preference. That was the only issue; otherwise, I would give them the highest rating without any problems. The staff could be more attentive to the queues, and I believe that other people's money is just as valuable as mine. Thank you, and I hope they improve in this area. Have a good day.

On August 11, 2025, I reserved a vehicle online with America Car Rental under my husband’s name, using my credit card for October 27, 2025, to November 03, 2025. Ten days later, on August 21, 2025, I cancelled the reservation because I decided I did not need a car in Guadalajara. The Customer service representative who replied asked me for banking information to process my refund. I responded that I paid with a credit card and asked if they could just reverse the credit card payment, to which they replied that they needed banking information to transfer the money to me, which I found strange since refunds on credit card payments are always done via a reversal to the credit card, in my experience. So I filled out the bank information for the credit card instead of my personal banking details, since giving them my private bank information seemed fishy.
In the following months, I continued to follow up on the status of my refund, to which every response I received said the same thing: that my refund is still being processed. Our vacation to Guadalajara came and went, and still no refund. When I followed up again in December of 2025, I received a response telling me that a refund can not be issued to the credit card and that I must provide them with a personal bank account, which upset me because they did not tell me this when I gave them the credit card banking information months before. So I provided them with my personal banking information. Since then, America Car Rental has yet to provide me with a refund. Every time I follow up on it via email and WhatsApp, I keep getting told that it is still being processed and that they are requesting it be “escalated”. This is the reply I always get, but in reality, nothing is being done. Sometimes it takes days for America Car Rental to respond to my emails, or they just stop responding on WhatsApp. My last two emails were just completely ignored.
It has now been over nine months since I started the refund process, which was approved, but for some reason, they seem to be delaying the process and not giving me any information other than repeating the same thing to me and apologising. I feel that America Car Rental is just stalling until I give up, so that they won’t have to issue me a refund.
This experience with America Car Rental has taught me a valuable lesson about reading reviews before doing business with a company. It is hard to enjoy your trip when you are being deceived by a dishonest company with which you did business. What should’ve been a simple transaction with America Car Rental has become a long, drawn-out process that will forever be stained by their dishonesty.
Any negative comments from clients about their negative experiences on any of their social media sites are deleted from the view of anyone else to make it seem like their business only gets good reviews. They are only visible to the ones who left the comments, but invisible to anyone else. This is very deceptive and only shows what an underhanded business this is. Every time you contact them for a status update, they will just tell you that your refund is still being processed and that they are going to escalate your claim. This is false. They just repeat the same thing over and over again. It's been 9 months for me, and my refund is "still being processed". Do not trust this company, as they will only keep your money and continue promising that your refund is being processed.
They always give generic responses to their negative reviews and ask that you contact them via email so they can resolve the issue, but they just repeat the same thing about escalating your claim while in reality doing nothing. I imagine they will respond with the predictable sentence asking that I contact them via email to resolve the issue, but they will simply continue to repeat the same thing until I give up, so that they can keep my money.
Took a chance on a company that wasn't familiar. Found the experience to be outstanding. The people were friendly and knowledgeable. Overall great experience, will rent with them again.

The information shown on the webpage is incomplete, it never mentions a front deposit to use the car, It never mentions a full coverage it only let you buy basic coverage without the page mentioning it. I didn´t see stated anywhere that for basic coverage yo should leave $15,000mxn but if you add a plus coverage it can go down to $5,000mxn. It feels like a scam since you cannot have your money back if you paid up front on the webpage. the whole time it felt like the staff did not want to rent me a car. They asked me document as if I wanted to open up a bank account or credit account. Including an account state. Even though I accepted to pay more for the plus coverage I was still requested to leave $15,000mxn since my card wasn´t from a recognized bank. Overall the renting experience was awful, I would not recommend it to anybody and I will avoid renting with this company again. I´m even being pushed everyday to answer this survey.
In the other hand the car was as expected, ok with no mechanical failures

The price was AMAZING and the staff were top notch! They made the process of renting the car so easy and effortlessly. They were very knowledgeable and answered all our questions. I was so pleased that they provided transportation to and from the airport at no extra charge. The car was clean and in excellent condition and it drove beautifully. We had no problems with our rental car the entire week we were in Cabo from April 26th through May 2nd. If you want to rent a car with a smooth process and GREAT staff........go to AMERICA CAR RENTAL to be treated right!!!!!

This place is dodgy as hell. They will try to scam you. Don't book anything through a third party or you will have hundreds of dollars in extra fees and thousands of dollars in deposit fees. They don't honor any of the guarantees on their website unless you book directly through the website. They also tried to scam us into some condo deal while we were there. It was awful.
