Well done Wigan Council

Well done Wigan Council, for giving a contract to a bunch of cowboys!! Gas servicing now being done by PHjones, obviously cheaper than Liberty gas no doubt!!
Haven't they seen the reviews, Red Flags!!!
Wigan tenants are already paying for the new 'Town Centre' renovation with yet another steep hike in rents etc.
It ain't ever gonna be another 'Covent Garden' coz this is Wigan, not London!!

I cannot understand what the council is…

I cannot understand what the council is about. You advised us that you all work as a community. A community of people that look after the welfare of others. My welfare in the system was not even one star. You leave vulnerable people to deal with issues these undies I cannot put on here because what I witnessed cannot be put on here for people to see. The care system has gone. No one wants to do a job . The people that got me where I am now is good people who do not work in the system. People who one day I will thank .

I was evicted by Wigan council and…

I was evicted by Wigan council and given 3 weeks notice of this eviction which is apparently illegal after falling foul of the bedroom tax and finding myself suffering from chronic pain which stopped me from going back to work. Lived there for about 5 years and in that time was terrorised by the council because of a next door neighbour that was abusing children and I had to witness most of it. I did in fact witness my next neighbour take a shovel (possibly a brick cutter) and cut a child’s leg off with it. I was threatened by the council and the police into keeping my mouth shut and I also found out that the local drug dealer on the estate was paying the police to look the other way.
Wigan county court, Wigan county council and Wigan metro police need a full blown investigation and shutting down right now.

Slow and incompetent

I received a letter stating that I owed them money. I had previously set up a direct debit, and upon receiving the demand, I checked my portal. The direct debit was not only set up correctly, but the first payment also shows as having been taken.

I had to call the helpline, which took over 30 minutes despite there only being a queue of three. Every five seconds, I was prompted to hang up and wait for a call back. The last time I did that, I never received the call.

When I finally got through, I was told this was a council error so the whole ordeal has been a huge waste of my time.

Unhelpful Customer Service Team via Email

To start with, I would like to be balanced and say that I have had some great experiences with some lovely, friendly ladies on the phone of the customer service team. They have been helpful and kind and informative.

However, lately, I have found the customer service team via email to lack compassion and empathy for my unique situation, and seemed to have stopped responding when I have asked for an appeal on their decision. Emails are not signed off, there is no name so I am unsure if I am dealing with the same person who I have explained my situation to, or someone new each time. Emails seem to be copied and pasted, and communication via letter and emails doesn't align.

It really feels unhelpful. I hope it's just a blip.

Needs a massive overhaul

Wigan Council are totally in denial. Whoever runs / manages the departments should be embarrassed. These reviews speak for themselves. Totally incompetent. They create their own delays by not reading emails properly then try to blame it on the customer. I've submitted everything they asked for twice & get a poorly worded letter back a month later asking for the files again. Despite both files being acknowledged on 2 different dates. Whoever runs this particular Customer Service team - shame on you. All your staff need retraining to a much higher standard! I've tried both methods ie phone calls & email & all are bad & send you generic copy/ pasted replies. You shouldn't have to badger them as they should employ efficient people who communicate well & actually want to resolve your query & help. Im sure the staff get a kick out of being awkward & prefer you to just complain so they can pass the buck. The last one was clearly working from home & had me on loud speaker, her dog was barking in the background & I could hear the TV as she made a rubbish attempt to find out what mistake THEY made . She wasn't concentrating. Worst council I've had the misfortune of dealing with & I've never been in the Life Centre as this sounds like absolute hell too . As for bin day. Why send the bin men onto estates & main roads at peak time ie 8-9am when workers & parents are leaving for the office or school run & traffics bad. Zero common sense & they employ the worst drivers . As a kid they came at 6 or 7am bk in the day . Always blame funding or employees. Read your reviews, acknowledge that you are the issue & take action. I wont hold my breath as you never admit you're at fault.

Wigan Council's Discrimination of the Elderly.

Being an elderly person I do not have the understanding required to competently use the internet and am being cruelly discriminated against because of it.
Today, as on numerous previous occasions, I was deliberately kept waiting on the telephone solely for Wigan Council's strategic purpose of bullying me into facilitating their indifference toward the needs of the elderly who they want to contact them via the internet.
Their abusive strategy is despicable and will most certainly be causative of the health deterioration of many elderly people.

Terrible humans and disability discriminators

Terrible humans. Discriminate against disabled people especially those with mental or neurological disabilities. There are High levels of corruption between staff covering up for them committing both criminal and unlawful acts of Human rights Violations , UN Treaty rights of Disabled. This includes mental torture by their staff. Wigan MBC and its staff discriminate victimise and harass you unlawfully and remove your access to support if you claim . They all need locking up !!!

Deceiptful Council

I received a letter from Wigan Council, informing me that someone would be calling to check my home's electrics. However, when he arrived, he showed no interest in my electrics, but a lot of interest in looking for damp patches. I assume the deceipt was not to alert me to the fact that damp may be present in my property and avoid me suing them for allowing it to be. They are stupid people! Apparently, the use of the word i_iots is inappropriate.

Wigan is a wasteful Council

Wigan is a wasteful Council. Claiming regeneration, the town and my area full of building work, lack of respect. We have been subjected to building sites , dirt mounds filthy roads, dirty and shaking houses. We received a general news letter that in no way explained what would happen. Subjected to convoys of lorries blocking entrances. Filth and mud all down the pavements, Shaking and thumping that can be felt miles away. No notification of when these things are imminent. The builders told me that WMBC should have informed all tenants, A dirt mound was erected, license granted again tenants not told. This mound looking into properties, the area is a filthy building site. Cleaners make matters worse spreading filth. No schools or hospitals are being built, so what on earth will happen as a result is anyones guess, The drains are already bad, properties flood, cant imagine what the future impact will be especially work men dumping stuff down drains. The we have the cemetries, disgraceful. Stuff being stolen off my sons grave, Council pass the buck to Police who never turn up. Cigarettes all over the grave, and headstone. Things melted where butts land on them. Tree over grave sheds its leaves, we are expected to clean all that up, everything buried under it. The branches hang so low your hair gets caught in them, Its complain, complain. The bins in the Cemetry piled high, it just gets worse, They make excuse after excuse but they are a wasteful Council. They disgust me.

Despicably Greedy Council

I, among many thousand others in the Wigan metropolitan borough, am a victim of this greedy and coldly indifferent council's human rights abuse.
This council has no respect whatsoever for the people it should be serving the best interests of. It's only interest is money and will deteriorate the quality of people's lives to make it.
The area I have lived in since 1956, then with its decent folk and peripheral countryside, once seemed as a hamlet and was a very pleasant place to live. However, since 1980 it has been used as a designated dumping ground for all the riffraff in the area and is now deemed to be solely dwelt by undesirables by the same sort nutters responsible.
Its surrounding greenbelt and common land is slowly disappearing beneath an ever-crawling sprawl of corruptly council approved housing and without any caring thought for the people whose lives it so cruelly affects.
How do they sleep at night? Their children will have fields to run through, rejoiceful in the wildness of their innocence, and reap many wonderful memories of their childhood; however, by their actions, they manifest as happy enough that our children won't, because money is much more important to them than human life is.
It is extremely upsetting that an insane minority of nutters use and abuse us for their greed.
Mind you, in a country run by a government guilty of the culling of its elderly, sick, and disabled as well as other atrocious human rights abuses against its people and in a country which criminalises your children for so innocently as sitting in a field making daisy-chains, it is no surprise.
The happiness of our children skipping into the future would be immensely improved without these nutters allowed to exist in the world.
Sadly, such criminals are allowed, including our heinous politicians and protected by the police who, quite disappointingly, are nowadays no more than heavies for the wealthy and powerful and merit no respect from decent, law abiding people.
