One very attractive sales point, repeatedly articulated by the sales person who sold me my windows turned out to be absolutely false, or at least, very deceptive.
I was assured that my window screens would be replaced, FOR THE LIFETIME OF THE WINDOWS, should they ever become damaged for any reason. Shortly after my window replacements, a bird flew into one and put a hole in it. I called UWD, and a service person did indeed come to my residence, scanned the code sticker on that particular window, and repaired the screen.
Fast forward a couple of years... I just called UWD to have a few rips & holes repaired in 3 of the other window screens and was told that "it was a fluke, a one time thing" that they did that, as the screening IS NOT guaranteed throughout the life of the window. Before you spend thousands of dollars on replacement windows, be very certain that your sales person is not lying to you.
I will be having the remainder of my windows replaced by Anderson, a much more honest and transparent company!
I ordered my windows last year and had…
I ordered my windows last year and had 2 windows in my front of my house that have a basic half moon above them. Very standard but they told me they would be more due to the half windows being special ordered. I waited 3 months and windows supposedly came in. Day guys came to install they went ahead and took all my windows out and then installed them. The installer didnt tell me the half moon windows were wrong size and took my windows out anyway without telling ke and tried to do some patch thing that looks like something I would do. Looks so unprofessional and awful
I called them and let them know they needed to correct it and they said they would rush my window order , and in meantime had a guy come out and remeasure them. He said original measurements were way off bc the guy used some auto measures. 12 weeks later again approximately I get a call day that new installation is supposed to happen by the installer and he tells me he isnt coming bc the windows are definitely not the right size again. At this point I was still trying to be patient and told him I felt like I should get compensation based on all of this and the price I paid for my windows. After about another 2 months I called to. Heck on my windows again and they tell me that the company they order from cant makes my windows and they had to order from someone else. I asked the customer service to have someone contact me because at this point I am losing patience. I have had nobody contsct me, no compensation, no front windows that fit and now have let them know if I dont hear something I am filing in court, which I plan to do Monday. Do not use Universal Windows. I thlught goikg with a company would be the best thing to do due to it being a big investment and wish I would have went with someone else. Do not spend the money. They will make you think they have the best windows but these windows havent even helped with our house heating or cooling bills etc and they dont back their product. Please run. I dont want someone else screwed.
BUYER BEWARE!!
BUYER BEWARE!!! This company will lie to you to get you to sign the contract and that's when they have you. We were lied to and deceived by multiple people and were told that after it taking 3.5 weeks to complete the project as they apparently don't know how to order the correct parts to install windows, we were told they would give us a fair compensation for the hassle and problems they solved, that compensation was less than 1%!!!!!! If you have to deal with Tyler, he is the shiftiest little creep you will encounter. He is the mastermind of deception, and the rest of the crew follow right along!! If anything, good comes out of our pain and terrible experience is the hope that this review deters anyone from doing business with this poor excuse of a company. They have multiple class actions lawsuits against them already, something I wish I found out before ever talking to them!! So if you are looking for a window installer, STAY AWAY from these hoodlums!!
Garbage
Everything was fine until it wasn’t. They took our deposit and cut into our wall/door frame to inspect for the install, then left visible damage behind. Then went completely silent. At the 6-week mark (when install was supposed to happen), we had to call them, only to be told the job was “undersold” and we’d need to pay double the signed contract price or cancel. No accountability. No communication. No resolution.
If we hadn’t called, we’d still be sitting here waiting while they held our money. Complete garbage!
Was lied to for months...
Half the reason I bought these windows were the energy efficient tax write-off. I have been told they were energy efficient and have waited two and a half months to do my taxes Now I'm being told that you can't write them off because they are not triple panel, I've called once a week for months and have been told they are just waiting for the qmid number from the government and everything is fine.
I guess I shouldn't be shocked...
Nonstop spam calling.
I would give a good review for the service, but I can’t because of how the company has treated me since. We took their bid and they did a good job with the windows and we are happy with them. Since that time they are spam calling multiple times a week for years, including during weekend hours and evening hours from ever-changing numbers. I’ve asked them to stop multiple times and they won’t. The last representative even apologize for the continued calls and then launched into his sales pitch anyway. That isn’t how you should do business.
Not a customer service oriented company.
Two workers came out but only one actually did the work. They said they could put the windows in with my curtains in place, but they took my curtains down and the curtains did not work when they put them up. I am waiting for help to get my curtains up as I am 68 and can't climb a ladder. They replaced my 2.25" molding with 3.5" to cover up damage to my walls. They didn't have molding for my second window so they could not finish the job. I live 1.5 miles from Home Depot so I am not sure why they couldn't buy the molding. They told me I had to pay the balance even though I was told to pay the balance when the job was completed. I was also told they would be back and have the work completed before the week was out. 8 days later I called and raised cane as to why my windows are not finished and why my curtains were not hung properly. I was told they will be back out 4.5 weeks later. I need the rest of my windows replaced in my house, but I will not use this company again.
I purchased 5 windows
I purchased 5 windows, a picture with two sides, a standard, and a small over the sink. All were double hung, except the picture. I purchased these during a buy 2 get 2 free promotion. I was given a grand total price. When I questioned this I was told that's the way it is! No breakdown of each window price or if I even got the buy 2 get 2.
I've been told that I paid to much. I really think Universal Windows Direct should have a better explanation of their pricing! I believe that I was way overcharged!
I won't do business with them again.
Universal Windows Direct doesn't care about the customer
When Universal Windows Direct makes a mistake, the customer is screwed. In 2024, we got a quote for two ValueLine entry doors with adjustable hinge attachments for $4400. The crew installed the doors and we were pleased with the new doors. Fast forward to February 2026, after cycling through bitter winter cold and oppressive summer heat, one door was opened and would not latch when closed. Called Windows Direct and asked for help. They sent over a High School DropOut to correct the problem. He discovered that the doors don’t have an adjustable hinge attachment as spelled out in my quote. There is even a sticker with instructions on how to set the adjustable hinge on the door. HSDO was clueless. I had to instruct him how to fix the latch strike plate. In a follow up phone call, the HSDO said that my quote was in error, ValuLine doors aren’t delivered with adjustable hinge attachments. Windows Direct made a mistake in the quote and they just don’t give a sh$t about the customer. Apparently the Warrantee doesn’t cover incompetence. When I hire a contractor my expectation is that I get the product I ordered and skilled craftsmanship. Windows Direct failed to deliver and betrayed my trust.
Be very careful when purchasing from…
Be very careful when purchasing from this company. During our sales appointment, we were told the windows would qualify for the federal energy tax credit. Based on that, we moved forward and spent over $13,000.
After installation, when preparing our taxes and reviewing the NFRC specifications, we learned the windows do not qualify. When I contacted customer service, I was told the contract does not guarantee tax credit eligibility — yet the contract says nothing about tax credit qualification either way. We were never offered an option that would have met the qualifying standard.
For a purchase this large, we expected better transparency. We will not use this company again and recommend others verify tax credit eligibility before signing.
ABSOLUTELY Garbage
ABSOLUTELY Garbage! D0 NOT Buy!
Supposed to be Energy Star Rated. That’s a joke. Had three service calls since 2023. Side draft from chimney effect, windows are sweating, can ACTUALLY see daylight between double hung, windows. Should have kept my original ones. Windows are actually cold from 2-3 inches out. Close blinds in the winter to prevent heat loss. Do yourself a BIG favor, look somewhere else, or I guarantee you WILL regret it.
Disappointed to say the least
was disappointed with my experience. The windows I received were not as promised — the style and quality didn’t match what was discussed during the sales process. The installation was completed, but the end result wasn’t what I expected based on what I was told. I wish there had been better communication and follow-through to ensure I got what I paid for.
NO attempt made to fix mistake. NO INTALL ON SATURDAYS
Beware once you have issues and they have all your money...
When the salesman was giving me his pitch, I specifically asked if they install on Saturdays, he said yes.
When the guy who came to measure the windows I asked if they install on Saturdays. Again I was told yes.
This was one of the reasons I decided to go with them.
8-10 weeks go by and I get a call on Aug 26 that the windows are ready and they can install on Aug 29 a Friday. I said I work during the week so what Saturday can they install. She tells me they DO NOT INSTALL ON SATURDAYS. I told her 2 employees who were at my house said they do, she said sorry no.
So I tell her I am off friday Sept. 12. She said that is a ways away, so they WILL CHARGE ME A STOCKING FEE since they have to hold onto them until then. What?????
2 of your employees say you install on Saturdays, WHICH WAS A LIE and now I have to pay a fee??? What the heck?? Lie to your customers much?
So I had to take off work loose 8 hours of vacation time because of your companies incompetence.
Aug 29 comes and they install the windows.
Once they are done I finally get a chance to go outside and noticed the windows do not match or look like the others.
I live in a condominium. The salesman knew this was a condominium because he had to contact the management company to see if the look of one window could be changed a bit.
So what is wrong with the windows? All the windows installed in the development have a frame outlining the window that matches the siding. These new windows are all just white, no frame matching to the siding.
In 2 spots the siding now has a gap that is away from the house. It was all flat before the windows were installed.
So Aug 29, I called and left a message, nobody was calling back so again I
called the customer service number, explained everything. She gave me a number to text the pictures and details
Sept 3 called left voice mail- got no answer
Sent multiple emails thru thier website contact us, texted.
Finally got a message with a number to call back. I call and again nobody resdon't.
Sept 5 finally got a person, she gave me email address so I can send the pictures and details again. So copied my text and sent that email.
It gets sent back undeliverable, problem on receivers end. I resend 2 more times same thing. I forward to my work email and
Sept 6 I resend the email from work email. Same thing it gets sent back undeliverable.
Sept 8 leave voicemail at 9am, then at 4:15pm
Finally got a call back from the same girl who i spoke to before. I told her all the emails are getting sent back. She said someone would come out Sept 12 between 3-5 to take pictures.
He took pictures of the windows, the siding he took no pictures of and said that was nothing. Well there were no gaps and now there are. I also printed out the email I sent with the errors so maybe thier IT people could look at, he was not interested and did not take it.
It's Sept 18. I left a message at 10am, no answer.
So these are the numbers and emails that do not work and that do not get replied to
How does this company exist with such poor, practically unexistant customer service
They say they will call you back they dont. They say they deliver on Saturdays, they don't.
I was told to text info to 855-293-7813 NO RESPONSE
Calling 440-786-1400 leave voice mail - NOBODY EVER CALLS YOU BACK
emailing customerservice at universalwindowsdirect.com--- it gets sent back undeliverable
.....@uwdba.com --- gets sent back undeliverable
It is almost a month after my install and my complaint and NOBODY FROM THIS COMPANY has bothered to call me to resolve this!!!
Due to the incorrect information given to me, no response to voicemails, unable to contact them via email, and not even attempting to resolve issue I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY.
Once they have their money, they will not contact you to try to fix any issues that were made on their part.
A month has gone by and nobody has reached out to me.
Disappointing Experience with Universal Windows Direct, you do not get what you paid for.
I originally chose Universal Windows Direct based on a positive interaction with Darren, who was knowledgeable, friendly, and emphasized the company's lifetime warranty. We decided to move forward with a window installation on March 15, 2023, despite the higher cost, because of this promise. The installation itself was excellent, but after a few months, the clasps on the windows began to fail. A technician replaced them at no charge, which was in line with the lifetime warranty.
Encouraged by our initial experience, we decided to contract with Universal Windows for siding on June 19, 2024. Brandon, who handled the sale, again reassured us that the same lifetime warranty would apply, with no fees involved. While there were some delays and scheduling hiccups, we were willing to overlook those as we wanted the job completed.
Unfortunately, the siding installation on September 12, 2024, was a major letdown. The installers faced communication issues, cut our cable line (disrupting my work), and rushed through what should have been a two-day job, finishing it in under 8 hours. Within a day, the siding began to detach. Additionally, there were holes under the sunroom, trash left in both my yard and my neighbor's, and missing flashing. When I raised concerns, the installers' only response was "it’s not in your contract"—which was incredibly frustrating.
A technician came out and suggested a full reinstallation, but when work was done on January 2, 2025, only the loose pieces were nailed back up, leaving the job looking poorly done. By January 28, 2025, the siding had detached again. Another technician came out, but once again, only nailed it back up.
The real shock came on March 19, 2025, when I was informed about a new $149 service fee. This was in stark contrast to the terms of our original agreements, which had no mention of service fees. I was told the siding would not incur a fee because I was still within the one-year warranty, but my windows would be charged since they were outside the warranty period. However, my window agreement never mentioned a service fee, and the siding agreement stated that such a fee would only apply if the damage was outside the warranty coverage.
When I raised these issues, I was told that the company could change the terms of the warranty at any time. This felt incredibly unethical, as I was never informed of these potential changes at the time of signing.
In conclusion, while Universal Windows Direct initially seemed like a solid choice, the ongoing issues, poor quality of work, and changes to the terms of the warranty have left me deeply dissatisfied. I would caution potential customers to carefully review all terms and conditions before moving forward with this company.

Windows turned out phenomenal.
Windows turned out great. Can't wait to see the difference with energy bill. Cost was reasonable. Installers were quick, courteous of house and animals. Would definitely recommend.

OUTRAGEOUS Prices and High Pressure Sales Techniques
I wanted siding for our modest single wide mobile home plus new gutters. A Universal Windows guy came out and spent 1 and a half boring hours puffing up his company. The spiel was that they have the best installers, the best product, the best Customer Service etc etc etc. I have since seen online that they totally rip people off with shoddy installation and wrong size windows, siding, doors, etc
I was expecting new siding and gutters maybe $5000 or $6,000. The guy looked me right in the eye and quoted me a price of $67,000. YES $67,000!!! I almost became instantaneously incontinent right in my easy chair. You could purchase a new mobile home for that. I looked over at my wife when he said $67,000 and she looked deathly pale. The room started to spin....$67,000!!!
He kept pressuring me to sign a contract right away. Over and over he wanted my signature and said this was just a quote not a contract. He kept on wanting my signature. I am so glad I said no because I read online reviews after he left and I found out that it was a standard practice of their sales people to trick and deceive people into signing a "quote" whereby they are on the hook for THOUSANDS of $$$$ Please folks PLEASE for your own good STAY Away from these people.

Recently had a salesman come by for an estimate on 12 windows. After an hour and a half I had to cut him off due to another appt. Did not get an estimate till the next day via email. Was supposed to be buy 2 get 2 free.
Once I got the estimate I found it was a lump sum.
I asked for an itemized estimate so I could see which ones were the free ones to justify the cost.
The response was it's 50% off MSRP!
ITS NOT BUY 2 GET 2 FREE.

Price gouge
Recently bought 4 windows, and got 2 for free. Project cost $13,142, Price per window $3,2885.50. Did not receive itemized invoice when I ordered, if I had, would have cancelled the windows. Still haven't received an itemized invoice. Window Cost Calculator on the internet said to expect Universal Windows Direct to have prices fall between $450 and $1300. This is nearly a 300% overage which is usurpment
