I’d give them a zero but that’s not…

I’d give them a zero but that’s not allowed. They essentially steal your clothes. My recommendation is to sell them yourselves or donate to a shelter. There’s just no honor to be found anywhere anymore. They made approx $300.00 or more off of my items and my cut is $11.39. Never again

I purchased two items from thredUP and…

Update: after writing this review, I was finally able to get productive help and my items should be here soon. Unfortunate to have to write a bad review to get good customer service.

I purchased two items from thredUP and never received a confirmation email or any shipping information. Upon searching for that myself, I found that there is no record of my order yet they have taken the money from my account. I’ve reached out to customer support and they could not locate my order. When I inquired upon getting my money back, they ended the conversation and told me to have a good day. Is this typical? I am trying to contribute to making less of an impact on this world by buying recycled and reused items and yet the experience I’ve had is somehow worse than bigger corporations. I’m really bummed out… and possibly out money that could’ve gone to something more useful. Hopefully I get the items I purchased at some point.

My experience with ThredUp sucked

My experience with ThredUp sucked. They make consumers spend enormous amounts of time trying to ensure they can buy an item, and allow no deliberation time. So three hours to check out and three hours to wait until someone lets an item go back out for sale. I spent an entire week getting together a cart for my daughters birthday full of clothing she has been wanting for a year and I have not been able to afford. Then purchased the order, and ThredUp canceled it immediately with no explanation. They said they would "relist" the clothes within 48 hours, so once a day I reopened the product and refreshed. Guess what- no relisted. So I emailed them, and apparently they relist under new product IDs. Fine. Well, I find the products - they had already been freaking sold! WTF! Just incredibly, incredibly frustrating and they have no regard for consumer time spent. I would not recommend buying from them if you want to avoid a frustrating experience.

DO NOT SHOP OR SELL WITH THIS BUSINESS

DO NOT SHOP OR SELL WITH THIS BUSINESS! They will take advantage of you in every aspect. I ordered a pair of boots, and they literally sent me 1 boot. I should have known then not to do business with them, BUT I sent them well over $200 worth of little girls' clothing new with tag. Keep in mind that I photographed and recorded all. They accepted 3 pieces, I would receive a total of almost $3 for. The other 8 pieces, the nicer of them, they "didn't except." Meaning that they were not selling them but, in fact, keeping them. WHAT!! The sad part about it is that people are paying for these "clean out" bags. You're paying them to take your stuff! So yet again, DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS!!!

We unfortunately can't guarantee which items will be accepted for sale once they reach our facilities for processing. If you plan on sending us any items that hold sentimental value or that you think you’d want back in the event that they cannot be accepted for sale for any reason, we recommend using our Premium Clean Out option which includes the added perk of unaccepted items being returned. I would give zero stars if possible

I would give zero stars if possible. My order is over a week late and no delivery date available. Huh? Now after basically 2 hours of stalking and waiting on customer service they refund my cc. Okay thats good but i cant get my first time 50% off discount( ummm I did not get the first order). I purchased items fir a trip; no clothes, out time, money, energy, etc. Added a ton of last minute stress that i went out of my way to prevent and customer service is unwilling to do anything. I can ask for a partial refund from my next order as a way of making this up to me. WTF? I pay then hope yall will refund me to say sorry? So beyond ridiculous!! Thread to p is dead to me!!

I highly suspect employees are stealing…

I highly suspect employees are stealing high value items. I’ve had them take old t shirts and then they rejected a brand new pair of Tory Burch shoes and a pair of Jimmy Choo and Gucci heels, as well as a brand new Abercrombie sweater. They didn’t notify me that those were rejected and claim they donate them. I also had a package with 15 items go missing and they only compensated me $80 despite the items being high value. I’ve sent a ton of stuff to them but won’t send any more. They need to be audited and he’d accountable for stealing customer items. I would not recommend sending anything to them.

It is dicey to purchase from thredup

It is dicey to purchase from thredup . Before I’d receive items .
Now they never come , I’ll get some orders cancelled on me.
Delayed shipping with no items showing up at all!
I shop a lot . ThredUp was my favorite for a while, until there was no shipping tracking ever updates. Etc… very frustrating.
They’ll offer you free shipping as a “sorry”.
Like, no ! I want the items I ordered. not another purchase that I’ll never receive, from the “free shipping.”
Maybe my problem is I keep ordering .
I actual have a few ordered I placed in January 2026 that have had issues . If I can post pics I’ll be more than happy to show as proof

After speaking with the ThredUp customer support my issue was resolved to my satisfaction and I was issued a full refund. Thank you to Kaleigh for all your help! I retract my bad review.

I would leave no stars if possible. I opened the capri’s ordered on ThredUp and saw the Capri’s had all kinds of ink marks on them. I immediately contacted ThredUp and I am being offered a ThredUp account credit that expires in one month. You can’t get ahold of a customer service person and the live chat doesn’t work. It’s a complete and total rip off! Buyer beware!

Never again thredUP-$$ over planet

Been a ThredUP customer since 2020, feel so stupid for trying to believe in them. And NO, I don’t want one of their lame robotic responses to this review, like “we suggest you use our premium service”— so they can make even more money?? Lord help us. I can’t wait for them to go under, such a devilish company supposedly supporting the planet. Most recently they listed a pair of pants I sent in with a clean-out bag-but since they are not a brand “they accept” because they are considered fast fashion I do not get a payout, yet they have the audacity to list them to make a buck. Flies right in the face of what they preach! Why not “donate” them like they’ve supposedly done with all my other clothing? No? Because they can make a dollar, yet not pass that on to the customer that provided the item. And who knows what they are making on the clothes that aren’t accepted! This is just ONE of MANY examples of horrible business practices that I’ve tried to overlook but I now know there are much better companies out there to get second hand clothing at, that actually protect the environment. Buyer beware!! Don’t do it.

Hello Jenn,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We’re truly sorry to hear how frustrated and disappointed you feel, especially after being a longtime ThredUp customer.

We want to clarify how our payout eligibility works and why some items may be listed without earning a payout. Some lower-priced items — including certain fast fashion brands — are ineligible for payout because the cost to process, photograph, and list them exceeds their resale value. While these items don’t qualify for earnings, we still choose to accept and resell them whenever possible to help extend their life and keep them out of landfills, which is a core part of our mission to reduce fashion waste.

We understand how upsetting it can feel to see an item listed without a payout, and we recognize that transparency here is important. That’s why we share our list of ineligible payout brands in advance and provide detailed information about our payout structure through multiple resources, including our FAQ, Seller Terms, and payouts page. We also encourage sellers to reach out to our support team at any time if they have questions about potential earnings before sending in items.

Your feedback is heard, and we’re sorry that your experience didn’t meet your expectations. We appreciate you raising these concerns, as they help us continue improving how we communicate and operate. If there is anything you would like for us to review please feel free to send us an email at Support@thredup.com.

Buyer Beware-First & last time purchasing…

LIED-First and last time purchasing from ThredUp. Turleneck sweater was listed in "excellent condition, practically new; show no obvious signs of being worn or wash." The turtleneck sweater had a HOLE and a STAIN. I would not trust this company. Not worth the 3.99 or my time to send back.

Good Concept, Substandard Execution

Thredup's concept is good, but their execution is poor. They have no customer service number with a live person to speak to. You have to text with a bot. If you want to return anything, even if the item was not as described, they charge you for return shipping. I HATE this company and will never order from them again. They'll be out of business soon enough anyway.

Quality and condition

The dress was misrepresented in photo and condition description. Very worn...should not have been sold but given away. Won't use them again and when trying to return the dress shipping was 10.99, I use a $10 off promo for dress paid 13.77 so my return would be less than $3.00. I'll just donate it!

Extremely Shady and Misleading.

I’m a Canadian customer and had a genuinely awful experience ordering from ThredUp, like most here I probably should’ve checked the reviews first lol. Firstly, during checkout nowhere was it once stated that all prices were in USD. My order total showed $62, which I assumed was CAD after I had written my address down and all. Only after the purchase went through did I realize I was actually charged $87 CAD due to currency conversion. Even the order confirmation email still shows “$62” with no currency clarification which is incredibly misleading. I then contacted customer support within minutes after placing the order to cancel it once I realized my mistake. The live chat support didn’t seem to even work so I quickly emailed them. I then didn’t receive a response until like 5+ hours later, conveniently stating that my order was already “packed and labeled” and could no longer be canceled. This delay feels pretty intentional as I reached out well within a reasonable time frame. And to make matters worse returning items from Canada means paying expensive international return shipping which completely defeats the point of even shopping secondhand for affordability. ThredUp may technically ship to Canada but its lack of transparency, poor cancellation handling, and USD only pricing make it a bad and risky choice for Canadians. I would not recommend this platform at all unless you are in the US perhaps and fully aware of the hidden costs.

ThredUp is not a fair market company

ThredUp is not a fair market company. They delay listing clothing. Barely worn and new trendy clothing aren't usually accepted. What doesn't sell, they reuse or recycle, which would lead a consumer to think your items are sold to other thrift vendors or put on clearance. Thredup receives all profits. Not a good company to do business with.

SCAM

Terrible experience. I was moving out and sent in ~60 items. Because I'm moving I checked the box to recycle whatever they couldn't sell. I also paid extra for their more "luxury service" to get a higher % back and faster processing etc.

I then got an email letting me know that 27 (!!!) of my items were found not to be eligible to be listed and were being recycled. These were high quality from brands like Vince, ALC, and Staud, which made no sense. I then asked for them to be sent back to me, and they refused, saying I had checked the "recycle" box. However, I checked that assuming these items would be listed, not arbitrarily be deemed unfit. I then asked for photos and details of why they were rejected because I could not think of any reason this would be legitimate. They refused saying it was too late and the items had already been "recycled," despite me originally reaching out moments after they emailed me. This is a complete scam that they can arbitrarily decide not even to list nearly half of my designer items with no details about why and a refusal to send them back. I suspect someone likely took the items internally.

If you would prefer to take your unaccepted items back and resell them yourself, we highly recommend selecting to have unaccepted items returned.
