This is my 4th or 5th pair of Tajima lenses, and I still highly recommend them. The prescription is spot on and the polarization is the best I have used. Easy shipping to Tajima and easy return shipping, Tajima tracks the shipment both ways. Good turn around times get your frames and new lenses in use. The customer service is awesome, ask any question, including asking for recommendations based on your activities and Jacob gets back to you quickly with a personalized recommendation. Bottom line great lenses and a super team at Tajima. Thanks to Jacob and all.

I was at wits end on my new…

I was at wits end on my new subscription. I had an older Oakley frame that was not available anymore. I shopped around for similar frame, but they were either not available or just not my style. By a stroke of luck, I came by the Tajima Direct link and I followed it to the web site. This has worked out really well. Just the customer service I have received alone made it worth it, but the whole experience from placing the order to receiving the frames and new lenses back was terrific. I highly recommend this alternative to buying a new set of glasses.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Remarkable Experience from Start to Finish

From the very first interaction, the experience with Tajima Lenses was exceptional. Communication was clear, consistent, and genuinely attentive — something that’s increasingly rare these days.

The entire process, from consultation to delivery, was seamless and efficient. Every question I had was answered thoughtfully, and each step reflected the kind of craftsmanship and professionalism that defines a company proud of its work.

And the lenses themselves? Outstanding. The clarity, precision, and finish exceeded my expectations in every way. It’s rare to find a brand that merges technical excellence with such a refined, personal touch — but Tajima manages both effortlessly.

In short, this was a flawless experience with a product that feels every bit as premium as it promises. I couldn’t recommend Tajima Lenses more highly

Phenomenal Company!

This company is fantastic! I found them online while researching lens replacements. I sent them a pair of 30 year old Revos that they do not make anymore and they replaced them perfectly with a polarized lens that looks like the originals. I was so happy I am sending them a pair of Oakleys to have them do Transitions XtraActive Polarized - can't wait! Shout out to Jacob for helping me on their chat assist.

Quality Service and Lenses

Tajima direct kept me informed every step of the process of replacing the lenses in a pair of sunglasses. While the process took a bit longer than expected, that was because they discovered a scratch in one of the lenses during a quality check and replaced the lens. The light-weight lenses are a plus. While I haven't yet tried out the lenses on the trout stream, I can tell that they offer more contrast and clarity than the original lenses.

I'M THRILLED!

I'M THRILLED!! Tajima did a fantastic job. The finished product is outstanding and I am very pleased. Simple, easy and I loved the way they kept me informed all along the way. Even at the beginning, the attention to detail and the carful guidance to get them the necessary information was easy and well supported by their team. When I need new lenses or buy a new pair of generic sunglasses, I will have Tajima do the prescription. I wish every semi-professional organization worked as well as this team. 100% top notch!!

New life for old sunglasses

I had a pair of 70s or 80s obscure German sunglasses that need their lenses replaced. Tajima Direct fitted the new lenses perfectly. The optical quality of the material is great.

Scratch resistant coating is not very…

Scratch resistant coating is not very scratch resistant. Developed a bad scratch in the first 2 weeks when I was extremely careful after spending $500 and waited 2 + weeks for these lenses. I’ll find someone local with a replacement plan next time. Severely disappointed. Don’t waste your time and buy into the hype.
*edit* Order Completed: August 28th Lenses received Sept 16 .Either way, it is better to go local and get better service. Also, you ever think there could be an issue/defect with the protective coating? Apparently not. Terrible product.

Phillip, we’re sorry to hear you’re disappointed. For your order we used Trivex® lens material — the most scratch-resistant lens material offered in Transitions® — paired with premium anti-scratch coatings. Together, this makes them the most durable and scratch-resistant prescription Transitions® lenses available today. While no lenses can ever be fully scratch-proof, scratches come from something abrasive rubbing on the lens surface. That said, we offered a special one-time heavily discounted remake as a goodwill gesture to try to help.

For clarity, your order was also completed and shipped within our standard 7–10 business day turnaround for prescription lens replacements, which is the timeline we advertise.

Great Prescription Progressive Sunglasses!

The new Tajima Direct prescription progressive lenses arrived shortly before Transpac this summer and they are GREAT! Seven and a half days across the Pacific with the ability to see what's coming on the horizon, read the small text on the instruments and see everything in between. They were a great asset and helped me contribute to our First in Class and Third Overall. Thanks too for the great service!

Expensive Custom Lenses Fail

I ordered some custom lenses from Tajima Direct. I gave Jacob, co-founder and president, a brief written explanation containing two key details of what I wanted to achieve with the custom lenses. He told me he understood, so I paid $275 to have them produce the lenses. What I received did not match what I requested.

Instead of acknowledging that what they produced was not what I ordered, Jacob repeatedly insisted that either they did produce what I ordered and/or my expectations were unrealistic. (I’m not sure how both those things can be true.) The simple reality is that the lenses they produced were not as dark as I asked them for. I don’t think they did it on purpose. I think they decided they knew what I wanted and overlooked one of the two key details in my written description.

Jacob refused to acknowledge this error and did not offer a refund. However, he DID offer me the opportunity to pay them additional money to attempt to make the lenses again. Now, after his repeated insistence that they did it right the first time (shouldn’t I be the judge of that?) and/or what I ordered was unreasonable (and therefore impossible to achieve?), why would I ever throw more money at them?

Maybe they have produced excellent custom lenses for other people, but they did not for me. They refused to acknowledge their mistake, and the customer service they provided amounted to telling me I was wrong and/or unreasonable. This seems like an unconventional approach to dealing with customers but maybe it’s working out for them – after all, he does still have my money and I don’t have the lenses I described.

UPDATE - Jacob’s response to this review further illustrates my point. My instructions to him (also in writing) were “the tint of the midline of the lenses should match (or be slightly darker than) the tint of my current lenses. So, obviously with the gradient, the top would be darker and bottom lighter.” I think the content of his response reveals that he focused only on making a gradient and overlooked how dark I wanted the lenses to be. Further, he has no interest in acknowledging that reality and certainly has no interest in fixing it. He did not carefully review the parameters of my request before putting these lenses into production. That’s his fault, not mine — but I am the one who paid for it. So, just be aware: If you, the customer, does not believe the lenses you received match what you described, you are wrong and you just have to eat it.

Mike, thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We’re sorry to hear you’re disappointed. Custom gradient tinting is a very specialized, artistic process, and while we always aim to execute exactly as described, there is inevitably some subjectivity in how the result is perceived under different lighting conditions.

For clarity, before production we confirmed in writing:
“match the existing color as closely as we can, but turn it into a gradient with it being darker than the originals on the top and lighter on the bottom. If that sounds right, here’s a link to order.”

We also made clear at that stage that “all custom tinted lenses like this are final sale.” We documented the lenses at final inspection with photos showing the darker top, lighter bottom, and mid-zone match. While the platform doesn’t allow us to post images here, we do have that visual proof on file.

That is what we produced, and I personally reviewed the lenses before shipment and thought they came out beautifully. Because these lenses were a custom, final-sale order, we could not offer a refund, but we did offer to remake them at our internal cost (50% off) as a courtesy. We corresponded extensively on this order — about eight back-and-forth emails — your last note stated you had no interest in going forward with a remake and that we should go our separate ways. At that point, we understood there was nothing further to reply to.

We regret that the result wasn’t what you had envisioned, but we do stand by the craftsmanship and care put into your order. We’ve produced thousands of custom tinted lenses for customers who are thrilled with the results, and we’ll continue to do our very best to deliver excellent work for anyone who trusts us with their frames.

I had my Calvin Klein eyeglass frames…

I had my Calvin Klein eyeglass frames transformed into sunglasses with lenses from Tajima Direct, and the experience has been nothing short of excellent. I've owned Maui Jim sunglasses for years and always considered them the gold standard for lens quality. To my surprise, the lenses from Tajima Direct are every bit as impressive-crisp, sharp, and clear-with incredible color and contrast. Honestly, I may like these even more than my Maui Jims.

The whole process was seamless from start to finish. Their "Our lenses. Your frames." concept is brilliant-you simply send in the frames you already love, and they come back upgraded into a high-performance pair of sunglasses. My frames were returned quickly, carefully packaged, and the fit and finish of the new lenses were perfect.

What really stands out is the craftsmanship. Tajima lenses are made in Japan and assembled in California, and the quality is obvious the moment you put them on. The optics are stunning, and the lenses feel as though they were designed specifically for my frames, not just added afterward.

If you're someone who values great eyewear but doesn't want to give up the frames you already enjoy, this is a fantastic option. Tajima Direct delivers on its promise: luxury-quality lenses, customized to you, without the hassle of shopping for new sunglasses.

Highly recommend them-I couldn't be more satisfied.

Excellent Replacement Lenses and Stellar Service from Tajima Direct

- A Seamless Sunglass Upgrade Experience
Recently, my wife and I decided to breathe new life into our beloved Maui Jim sunglasses, and Tajima Direct made the process effortless from start to finish. I opted to replace my KAIWI CHANNEL lenses with progressive lenses, while my wife chose full readers for her own pair of MJs. From the moment we initiated the process, we were both impressed by how streamlined and user-friendly everything was.

- Easy and Efficient Shipping
One of the standout aspects was how simple it was to receive the shipping label. Shortly after placing our order, we were provided with clear instructions and a prepaid label, making it effortless to send our sunglasses in for the lens replacement. There were no unnecessary steps or confusion—just a straightforward process that saved us time and hassle.

- Outstanding Communication
We especially appreciated the excellent communication throughout the entire transaction. Jacob from Tajima Direct kept us well-informed at every stage, from confirming receipt of our sunglasses to updating us about progress and delivery expectations. His prompt and friendly updates made us feel confident that our eyewear was in professional hands.

- High-Quality Lens Replacement
When our sunglasses returned, we were thrilled with the quality of the new lenses. My progressive lenses are crystal clear and comfortable, seamlessly adapting to all my needs. My wife’s full reader lenses are equally impressive, offering her the sharp vision she was hoping for. Both pairs look and feel as good as new—if not better!

- Looking Forward to Daily Use
We couldn’t be more pleased with our Tajima Direct experience. The entire process was smooth, the communication was reassuring, and the results exceeded our expectations. We’re both excited to use our “new” sunglasses regularly, confident in the quality and care that went into every step.

Highly recommend Tajima Direct for anyone considering replacement lenses—your favorite frames deserve this kind of expert upgrade!

I sent a pair of Gucci sunglasses in to have the lenses replaced because Lens Crafters stated they could do it, but it would cost $230. I was notified upon arrival, I was notified with turnaround time, and I was notified when they shipped back for $99! Lenses are mint and I'm so happy I can wear them again.
