Total lack of transparency

Before I explain why I had to give a really low rating, I want to say that the two movers were amazing, Annised and Samson - super lovely and kind - but the office or administrators at NGS removals were very disappointing. I had read a few bad reviews about hidden charges, and so I specifically asked about that and was assured that 5 hours would be more than enough. Because I didn't trust it, I opted for the day rate. I was never told that I would be charged if the move went over 8 hours and that any time after 6pm incurs another extra fee on top... well suffice to say that I ended up paying a third more than some of the other quotes (an additional 300) I had received for the job which would have included three movers and a bigger van. Because the van was also too small and I had to take things in my car. As I said the two movers were super lovely and I would encourage them to find a different company to work for, because the lack of transparency is appalling.

Regarding the quotes we provided, the initial estimates did mention that any moves extending past 6 PM would incur additional charges at the evening rate. We also noted to you on the day that we would have a second van available if the initial van could not accommodate all your items. However, as you mentioned, the second van was not needed as you opted to transport some large fragile paintings in your personal vehicle.

I understand there were some additional factors that contributed to the final cost, such as the time required for you to select specific items from storage, as well as the multiple doors and the lift at your delivery address. These access challenges were not communicated to us initially, which prevented us from providing a more accurate quote upfront.

Good service prior, poor aftercare

I am disappointed to say that their customer after-care is non-existent. Despite having a decent removals service, a few items were damaged. I reported these via WhatsApp, two emails and 3 phone calls and noone has responded to anything. Today when I have called the phone is being hung up on. Clearly NGS have now flagged my number on their system as "do not answer". This is extremely disappointing. If you cannot follow your own claims policies, noone should do business with you. Completely against any consumer rights.

Anicet was absolutely fantastic

Anicet was absolutely fantastic. He was very professional and polite. Everything was done in such a smooth manner and with nothing but absolute care. I would highly recommend and will definitely be using this company again! I would also like to thank Craig for being so transparent and thorough whilst organising the move for me!

Go with someone else

Go with a company registered with The National Guild of Removers & Storers Ltd, not these guys. Or at least read the terms and conditions in full very carefully.

The prices on their website don't include VAT so was much more expensive than anticipated. Not transparent at all.

Would have bailed at this point but had paid a £30 deposit.

Spent most of the day on Friday chasing to check that they were coming on Monday. Kept going through to people saying that they get someone to call me back, in the end someone had to message me on their day off.

They upgraded the van without asking. Which was fair enough that we needed it but would have been nice to have been notified before getting the invoice.

They couldn't fit our fridge freezer in the van so left it outside and said we'd have to pay for it to be removed. It's frustrating because we kept saying we can do two trips but they insisted that it fine when evidently it wasn't.

Broken chest of drawers. Their terms and conditions say that they don't pay for breakages.

Scratched floor because they didn't use proper covers when moving the sofa. They said they'd sort it but didn't.

We checked a box for them to plumb in the washing machine but they didn't.

All issues were flagged at the time and we explained the problems on the phone afterwards. They came across as very defensive and made claims that weren't true.

This all added a lot of stress to an already stressful situation.

They left an hour early, I guess they count the time taken to get to us as billed hours??

The guys were very personable and I was impressed with them carrying everything out and in again but this wasn't enough to save the company from the 1 star rating. I won't be using them again. I'm half convinced that the positive reviews are fake because the experience I had was so different.

Thier response is full of outright lies. I'm sure they'd have a tonne more negative reviews, but they previously threatened to take me to court if I don't delete my review. When I refused they reported the reviews that I wrote to the platforms I posted on.

Based on our records, you had initially requested a collection and drop-off service without packing assistance. However, on the day of the move, it became evident that you had not prepared or wrapped any of your items.

We made every effort to keep you informed about the job, sending automated email reminders three days, two days, and one day prior to the scheduled move. This was done to ensure you were aware of the upcoming service and could prepare accordingly.

Regarding the fridge, our removal team did offer to make a second trip to collect it, but you insisted that it was no longer working and that they could leave it by the bin collection area.

We strive to provide our clients with excellent service and to address any concerns they may have. If you have any further feedback or would like to discuss this matter further, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are committed to resolving any issues and ensuring your satisfaction with our services.

Was on time and professional with the move even with the delays with the snow they were still dedicated on finishing the job. We’re very friendly and careful when moving all of my gym equipment and even helped dismantle my bed and wardrobe

Great customer service , I had my move on the 9th of December and I had no problem with the NGS , great people.I spoke to the office to assist me with any issues which they did. If there was a review for the worst removal company in England this would be it!

Hears how you will be ripped off in an A to Z of day light robbery

1. Make contact with the provider flagged via a search engine
2. Email after doing your own quote - be then rung by somebody. All very non committal on email but on the telephone advising what to book based on what you tell them they have
3. You go back online to book based on the telephone call and the time advised to undertake the job
4. Removal men arrive - come in and act out their shock. Oh we were not aware you had all of this, we don’t be able to get this done in the time booked. We’ve also only bought a transit van so we will need to do at least 2 trips.
5. Let me go and ring the office and see what we can do, we’ve not got jobs booked this afternoon so we could stay on
6. You are pushed as it’s your removal day so need items gone so ask them to continue
7. It takes them approx 12 hours to move 6 miles a 1 bedroom flat
8. Before you know the actual price following your original quote you are asked to sign to say you have received X Y Z but not knowing how what you are signing for impacts on costs
9. Various prices added like double fees for after 7pm and various other things that were in small print that you probably didn’t take too much notice of as you’re removal was a half day starting first thing!
10. You are told they can’t leave your home until you’ve paid in full when the email invoice arrives
11. You’ll be left as a woman arguing with 2 large men in your home telling you they will ring other people to come by if you don’t pay and that’s exactly what happens
12. Your bill will be 4 times higher than the quote and you’ll be told if you can’t pay they will loan you the money on a 60% APR rate
13. The removal men will tell you they are not in charge they are just “the removal men” but when you look up the main man removing all of his pictures are dripping in jewellery in a roles Royce just to name but a few
14. Before you get your bill you’ll be asked to leave reviews online about their 5 star service and how they will get a good bonus if you do
15. Fortunately I told them I would do it later and why this site is full of positive reviews
16. As can be seen on this site when anybody comments negatively they have their GDPR breached by a manipulative 1 man band operation
17. When they are in your home they will threaten you with their in house legal team - whose ever heard of a 1 man band having their own legal firm !!? Trying intimation and fear as a way of ripping you off
18. Throughout the day they will tell you about the next days jobs etc and how little sleep they will now get as they’ve run seriously late unpacking your home thinking they are doing you a favour.

That is a step by step account of what will happen should you engage this company. A number of unhappy clients are rallying together and are going to take this all further in unity. Imagine being vulnerable or unable to pay!? Their gaslighting responses that aim to discredit or undermine those reporting! Shame on them please do not be fooled by a price, if it seems to good to be true it is and don’t be fooled by the “just the driver” act - that guy manipulating you is the operation!

All our customers are free and able to provide us feed back and their own thoughts to their experience.
We understand we are not able to ensure a smooth move always but we do know for a fact our team members are all professional from the team in the office dealing with in coming customers to the Removal staff on the job.

We do not take kindly to false and misleading information and we will be taking action.

Avoid - Updated

To say they were unaware of our displeasure is a complete fabrication. I had repeated discussions to find an amicable resolution but all they could do was threaten to pass the outstanding fee to a debt collection agency.

We were also contacted by one of the team from the day saying his was job was at risk which as per point 6 is strange as he is the sole director.

This left us with no option but to pay.

The only discount received was the journey time and the excessive packing charges. There was no compensation or understanding of the time lost due to their faulty vehicle.

There was no walkthrough to review the items as claimed.

NGS have also not reached out to contact us as claimed in their response.

1. Arrived late
2. Van broke down so delayed
3. Movers distracted by van delay
4. Aware of van issue so went slower
5. Move took 12 hours for 1 bed flat. 1 1/2 hour journey
6. Strange set-up. One of the movers told us to sort out any issues with the office but turns out he is the sole director of the company
7. Multiple items damaged
8. Excessive charge for packing materials
9. Tried to charge extra for miles
10. Complete lack of understanding for the impact the delay had on us.
11. Compensation and after care following the delay completely unsatisfactory

I would highly recommend that you avoid.

In this circumstance we are very shocked in regards to your review as we have spoken to you on a number of occasions and you reassured us we had provided a service up to standard, you verbally and e-signed that you were indeed satisfied with our service.

We do understand that the team had an unexpected issue with the Van on the day, that was out of their hands and control.
The team continued to do there job as well as trying to rectify the situation with the Van, you were completely understanding as any one would be as it was a clearly an unexpected situation.

Furthermore the team still continued to work and you was never charged the time lost as it was not your fault or our fault, these things to do happen.

We have given you the best service we could have and a large discount on you bill , including free packing materials worth over £50 and you have clearly stated you were happy with the service ( we have it ok recording ), currently we are very confused as to why you did not express theses issues with a member of staff at the time as you had direct contact with them, also you mentioned you had multiple damaged goods but you never sent any evidence in to us in as the team did a walk around with you to make sure everything was to your standard and again you reassured the team with was fine.

After the team had completed a 12 hour service, relented to make payment the following days due to the Van situation that was out of our control after the fact we had taken of the time lost and an extra 2 hours off your bill and the free packing materials as a company we have in gone the extra mile with your move to make sure you were satisfied.

The office went through the invoice with you and you did in fact pay the amount due, but to write a review as such as you have after few weeks since the matter was resolved as it was a unexpected problem that we did not charge you for at all as we understood it was completely out of our hands so we would have never and did not in fact attempt to charge you the amount that would of be due if we had of not took action and give you a large sum of a discount and free materials.

We understand we can not please everyone but for you to write a review such as the one you have has left us , we are confused as we were reassured by yourself you were beyond happy with the service and then team.

In conclusion we will be contacting you in regards to your review as we think it is very misleading and incorrect.
