Expensive, unfriendly and dangerous

There is nothing relaxing about the outdoor pool at the wellness centre; in fact, the situation is simply dangerous. It's a tiny pool, and people jump in with all their might from all angles—doing flips, salto's, 'bommekes', and more. Lifeguards don't seem to care. I never come home without a bump or a bruise. A simple sign telling people not to dive, jump, or do flips might help to start with. Staff are extremely impolite and spend more time controlling people's dress code and checking people's bags than ensuring safety. The pool is extremely expensive. There is no system for regular visitors or those who want to come just for a short swim—no memberships or tickets for 1 or 2 hours. The outdoor pool is often closed even when the weather is fine; or they close it at 5.30 pm instead of the 6 or 7 pm stated on the website. People are kicked out of the pool at least 15 minutes before the official closing time. For that price, I would expect something which fulfils basic expectations.

Incredibly rude management.

Myself and my three year old son travelled to this centre. We are visits the city as my partners head office is here. Upon entering, we were told that we needed a passport to gain access to the swimming pool.
The website does not state this (nor on the visit Gent website where it is heavily advertised ) - at least not in English. I presented a scanned copy of my passport as carrying a passport to a leisure centre is not something I would feel safe doing nor would I consider it needed. I am not sure who would be comfortable leaving their passport in a locker. After being told that the policy is there to have one for entry - their own company policy - to stop trouble and to identify who would enter the centre, the lady on the desk stated that the passport needed to be scanned yet then went on to add that they then need to type the name in to the computer and that’s the information they need. She then went to say that it is government dictated. All of the information she was giving was contradictory.
I spoke with my partner, he spoke with his team in his head office and not a single one of them had heard of this being a thing - all residents of Gent and surrounding areas. When sat watching others check in, not a single customer presented documentation; I’ll let you as a reader make your own assumptions about that one.
I asked her to consider this on an individual basis - based on the fact we did, in fact, have identification on my phone but the hindrance was their own computer equipment - and the fact that we couldn’t read the website. In addition to this, being a solo female traveller with a small child it is unlikely that we would be there to cause trouble.
She went and fetched her senior - which I now believe to be the centre manager - a middle aged male - who came to me and stood in a side stance, no eye contact and confrontational body language. It was clear that no resolution would be found. He was not willing to engage in a civil conversation and instead, spoke in another language and when asked to repeat himself responded ‘why do I need to?’ Furthermore, then asked for his name he said ‘I don’t need to tell you that’ or, ‘why do I need to tell you that?’ No words were even spoken from myself other than to ask him to explain the policy.
We have travelled from England and spent 40€ in taxis for a wasted journey to get there from our hotel, which again, was mentioned to the management. Not an ounce of customer service skills were seen between the entire team. In addition to that, you have let down a small child. This was pointed out and not taken in to consideration which adds to the dire customer service.
Now, I sincerely hope the male mentioned sees this - sort your attitude out. This is not how you run a business nor treat customers. I suggest some courses on customer service with particular focus on resolution skills. You will find that in fact, your business will thrive if you are willing to compromise and not use confrontational approaches. Furthermore, I suggest you update your website to reflect this necessity of having documentation in various languages. We won’t be the last who will experience this.

very bad experience

Nice place but unfortunately packed!!!
The staff doesn't really do their job and is very rude!
They are also understaffed for the number of clients present on site.
2 guys standing far from the swimming pools talking to each other. Another one sitting at the desk.

I saw the staff treating people with rudeness.

The place was packed with people contrary to what was mentioned online while booking.

In the children/toddlers swimming pools you find more adults than kids in the water laying their legs in the water leaving few space for children to play!

Furthermore, you find big children playing in the baby's/toddler swimming pool making it more dangerous for little ones.

I saw people going into the water without taking shower before or washing their feet at the entrance and nobody is there to check that.

It's not a very inclusive place as they mention online. If you have disabled or autist kid better go when it's more empty and surely don't trust the information online.

Finally but not least, it's expensive. A parent with less than 6 years old child must pay full price while you don't really come to swim/play but to monitor the kid (s).

I came from far away and I should have followed the reviews of people with bad experience before to come.

Most dirty and badly managed swimming pool in Flanders

For sure the most dirty swimming pool I have been to. The floor in the locker area and the lockers themselves are always very dirty and it is very rare that someone is cleaning them. Most of the time there are very few swimming lanes available for public swimmers. They reserve to many of them for swimming clubs. The idea is to force you to become a member of one of them as to make you pay more for using the swimming pool. They're not ashamed to tell you: "Become member of a swimming club and you will have place to swim". To often the showers are broken or malfunctioning. Also it seems there is no one in charge present, no surveillance and it looks as if the staff is just sitting around counting the hours. No one is reprimanded for throwing dirt or litter on the floor/benches or against the walls, for wearing unauthorized swimwear, for eating food in the locker area, etc. And then they have the nerve to ask you to take off your shoes before entering the locker area. As if this is the only way to keep the premises clean. One might think that money is the first concern of Lago, rather than the sport, health, and cleanliness of the swimming pool.

Nice for regular swimmers

You can visit the swimming pool with relaxing part, part for swimmers or combination of both. I will not evaluate the part for children. If you make a reservation online and buy a normal ticket in advance you need anyway wait in the line to get checked by the employee.

In the relaxing part there are very nice saunas and hot pools (spa) as well. Employees are frequently checking use of the towels in saunas. The relaxing part has also "steam room", which is in really poor condition and nobody use it - because there is no steam at all.

The pool for swimming is perfect, it would be nice to have more benches to sit on while having a break from swimming. There are nice stopwatch.

In both cases what would I appreciate is a bit privacy for showering or going to the toilet. Sadly all the facilities are shared :(
In the late evenings is tropical part seized by men and there is 99 % chance that you as a woman will end up everywhere as only one with another 10 men.

There is no possibility to dry your hair with your own hairdryer and the dryers provided by the LAGO are quite slow.

Ordering tickets with food was a disaster

Dear, I bought tickets with food yet didn't understand that I need to show them before entering because I planned to order food after swimming. Eventually bar refused to serve food and lady at the reception refused to provide voucher for food or reimburse food cost since I left swimming pool already. As a result cost of 5 meals lost because process is not logical. Why can't people order food after swimming? And what's a problem to track food ordering without registering at the reception? Aren't we at the digital era? Or at least make it clear that firstly reception then entering for the ones who purchased tickets with food. Really illogical process cost me eur 35 and my reputation damage.
