Interrent Stansted Airport
Interrent Stansted Airport
AVOID THEM, DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER BOOKING WITH THEM
This car rental company are out and out scammers, I booked a car with them through carrentals.com, who I have used before, without any problems, when I arrived at the car village at Stansted Airport, the assistant on the desk refused to issue the car because I did have the necessary identification details... I had a passport, Danish driving license, with photo, MasterCard, platinum, with sufficient cover
The assistant informed me that if I paid an extra 90 pounds, he would be able to issue the car, this amount was more than the actual car hire fee!!!
This company are cheats and should be avoided at all costs, please make sure to inform your family and freinds, so that they do do fall foul of this dishonest company
They are thieves !
They are thieves !! They always have a good excuse to increase the bill (credit card only, charge on the full tank, management fees on a "saying" traffic ticket, etc ...). Big scam! TO AVOID
Terrible experience....do not use
Terrible service, awful experience at Olbia (Italy) airport in June 2019. I have rented cars for 30 years and I will never use Interrent ever again. The wait at Olbia airport was awful...every single customer was lectured for 15min about the dangers of not taking the extra service. Not only is this pressure unpleasant for the customer, it means the wait is very long for everyone else. Luckily there were only 2 people in front of me so waited around 40min, but if there were more you could easily be there a few hours.
Rude staff, unhelpful, they are there to sell you over-priced insurance. That is their only job.
Trust me...there are plenty of competitors who rent cars at similar prices. Do not use Interrent. You will regret it.
They made a mistake on our booking
They made a mistake on our booking, their solution, cancel the contract and pay for a new booking, no money back. The car we had booked was not available and instead of giving us an upgrade, just canceled the contract, and we had to pay over 70 Euros for a car for 24 hours, when we had paid about £20 for the original booking, for 7 days.
Staff was rude, apart from one person, manager is rude and showed no respect for the customer

Maintaining their position as the worst provider ever
Worst experience ever. It would help if the staff had a brain and could do an address search using your name and not a title. Result, no car. I had to go to a different provider who had no such problems. Don’t put yourself through the pain.
Stansted airport the worse experience…
Stansted airport the worse experience in my life. Spend few more quit and avoid 2 hours waiting and extra £250 spending for damaged I haven't done. THIEVES
Theft - pure and simple
Scam. Pure and simple. I booked a car for a 23.30 pick up of the late BA flight to Toulouse. I put details of my flight into the booking. BA flight was delayed arriving just before midnight. With no luggage I came straight out to find the Interrent desk closed but caught up with a representative in the parking lot only to be told that the office was closed, that they had no details of my flight and that the office would not reopen until 8am the following morning. Forced to spent a night in an airport hotel at € 300 I returned to the Interrent office at 8am the following morning to be told that my booking had been cancelled as a no-show. I was informed that I had a 6 hour window to collect the car - per the terms and conditions. I advised that no such window is referenced in the T&C’s, that I had arrived inside this window and that I had returned to the office at the earliest possible opportunity. Told outside 6 hours and tough! While the terms and conditions do reference the loss of payment if the customer cancels they do not reference any ability for Interrent to cancel or a six hour window. Having bought and paid in full for the rental it should be my choice to be able to leave the car in the Interrent parking lot for the entire period of the booking if I so wish. Simply appalling and outright theft - pure and simple
Interrent are thieves
Interrent are thieves. They recently introduced a system requiring you to have a PAPER proof of address - i.e. a utility or council tax bill that has actually been POSTED to you. Like a lot of people, I get all my bills electronically. I don't have any bills posted to me. Interrent know a lot of people are in the same situation, so they charge £40/day for 'extra insurance' if you don't have a paper proof of address to show them. Or, of course, you can leave without the car you've paid for. Given I had to drive my family to a funeral, that wasn't a real option. They - or in my case Alex, the supervisor at the Heathrow branch - of course don't care. Why would they? The policy is designed to extract more money from customers by forcing us to pay for this 'extra insurance'. Shameless.
Never again.
I got issued a fine for a toll non payment after interrent told the fine company it was me driving the car. It was actually the next customer who should have been issued the fine. I was already on a flight by that time. Ended up having to pay as it was taking so long to get proof from interrent i was being threataned with being taken to court.
Never again.
Absolutely cowboys
Absolutely cowboys. Do not use.
Tried to ask for extra documentation like utility bills then once they realise you don’t have them state if you book direct you don’t need them but the cost increases more than 7 times the original amount.
Stay well clear!
Avoid interrent, goldcar Stansted if you can
Rented car at interrent, goldcar Stansted.
Avoid this place if you can. Used them monthly in past and was happy. But since March they changed, demanding a proof of address letter or whatever and force you buying their extra excess insurance. In fact so much that they don't give you a car if you don't take it.
Had to pay £130 extra for an actual £25 rental.
The lady behind counter I hadn't seen before there was extremely rude. She pointed entire time out that their T&C demand a proof of address like bank statement etc.. I showed her my online one but she said no it needs to be a paper and not self printed one... The fact that I rented several times before with them, so they do have my addresses all saved etc didn't matter. Worse the chap on my right (German guy) had same issue, he showed his ID card (note German IDs are residency cards with home address) was not accepted. Needs to be posted bill as proof of address.
And the funny logic is if you take their excess insurance then suddenly they don't want to know where you live anymore and do not need a proof of address?
Has been last time for me to use them.
Criminal company
Criminal company - do not rent from them. I booked a car with unlimited mileage and was charged £34 for excess mileage. In 24 hours, I travelled less than 150 miles. Also, they claim a tyre was damaged. It was not! I had taken out comprehensive insurance so their fraud is the insurance provider's problem. But it is evreyone's too. Avoid this huckster company at all costs! It's no surpirse that they have been voted the worst in Europe with their sister company Goldcar.
Interrent Portugal are running a…
Interrent Portugal are running a racket. 1) had to pay extra for a diesel car even though I booked a petrol. Should have at least been the same price.
2) they don't record down previous dents etc. Even though they take manual marks on the paper, they don't mark this on their system. Was charged for a dent we didn't make.
Terrible customer service and possibly fraudulent. £400 worse off.
SCAM
SCAM. I booked with them thinking it was different than Goldcar or rothium, but is the same with the same or similar scams. I can't understand how they are out in the market.
RIP OFF RIP OFF AVOID AT ALL COSTS…
RIP OFF RIP OFF AVOID AT ALL COSTS !!!!!
Used these rip off merchants from Paris CDG airport in December 2018, paid extra for all top up insurances at time of booking but station operator (came across as charming over worked young man) insisted despite being shown the paperwork we were not covered, after some argument with my brother who speaks fluent french we reluctantly signed the paper work as we needed a car and to get on our way, my 78 year mother had already been stood waiting ages as no seating available.
Car was tatty, remote key didn't work in fact half of it was missing and we daren't go above 110kmh in it on autoroute much to annoyance of other drivers.
On our return we took our argument up with AutoEurope who did the booking transaction - they just washed their hands of it so avoid them too and Interrent just said as we had signed the paperwork (under duress) we had agreed and that was it, bombarded both companies with emails even quoting from the slating Which? magazine gave them, never got any more replies.
I HOPED THEY HAD GONE OUT OF BUSINESS but would appear they are still ripping people off.
Do not trust Inter Rent or Gold Car…
Do not trust Inter Rent or Gold Car (they are the same company), they are likely to screw you over! We rented from Inter Rent Bologna airport, Italy. We picked up our car in the evening, their staff refused to come outside to check the car with us, he reassured us that everything with the car is fine and there aren't any scratches on there that would be a problem, they "need to be dark enough so you can see them from a meter away and over 5cm", we noticed a set of very faint scratches the next morning that we weren't able to see unless your face is right in front of them, so assumed its all fine, even though they weren't marked on the check out report. We should have made the guy come out with a torch and taken photos of every faint mark. Completely shocked to find that when we dropped the car off the charged us for this very faint mark that was there the whole time! The staff were very rude and wouldn't listen to anything we had to say, they said we needed photos to prove it was there the whole time. Of course we had some photos taken with our phone with flash but the scratch wasn't visible on the photos, you can only see it in the day light when you're face is right up to it! They then didn't send us the accident report or damage repair invoice/confirmation of cost for our insurance company within a few days as they'd promised, it took weeks of chasing them and they don't answer the phone or their emails. An absolutely terrible experience, avoid them like the plague! When we dropped the car we over-heard 3 sets of customers complaining to them within half hour so can tell they are a bad company and screw most people over, wish we'd read reviews before using them.
Fraudsters, pure and simple.
Interrent and Goldcar are the same company as I picked up the car from Goldcar staff at the Goldcar desk at Malaga airport.
It's my view that Interrent and Goldcar are acting illegally and stealing money through credit card transactions. I was offered insurance excess and I told the woman on customer service at Malaga airport I did not want insurance as I have my own I pay for annually. I was told my credit card would be charged to cover a full tank of petrol only. On returning with a full tank my credit card would be refunded fully. I signed an electronic signature on a screen, not an insurance agreement. My signature has since miraculously appeared at the bottom of an insurance agreement and I have been illegally charged almost £95 for insurance that I didn't need and had already told the customer service representative I did not want it.
I have taken advice and what they have done is forgery, pure and simple. I am disgusted and will be seeking legal action against Interrent and Goldcar
Charged 64 euros for late return of car when I wasn't late
Charged 64 euros for late return of my hire car when I was within the hour allowed as a safety net. Only when I arrived in Palma, Mallorca did I realise that Inter Rent is part of Gold Car who I would also never hire from again. I have emailed their Customer Service desk at Gold Car attaching my Boarding pass as proof that I couldn't have been as late as they said I was otherwise i would have missed check in desk opening times for my flight. Unsurprisingly heard nothing.
DO NOT USE INTER RENT. ANOTHER BLACK LISTED COMPANY FOR ME.
EVERYONE WHO HAS BEEN RIPPED OFF INTERRENT TENERIFE
EVERYONE WHO HAS BEEN RIPPED OFF WITH INTERRENT IN TENERIFE AIRPORT.
Please message me. They are obviously doing this to many people around the world. My daughter just got ripped off, booked, paid and then when she got there told her as she did not have credit card she would have to pay FURTHER £250 NON REFUNDABLE she would have to pay another £150 as she was 23! NON REFUNDABLE!! even though she put her age in the booking and it was showing different prices for different ages so she paid what it stated!. She refused to pay so he made her sign a document that she was refusing to pay and cancelling the car at no refund.
They have these documents already there as they do this and many other things automatically. I tried to call the company form england and was met with a strong block at call centre. Automatically said cant speak to anyone at the rental place, cant see paperwork as this was cancelled!!. She gave me email address and another link to a form and said reply within ten days. I can bet my bottom dollar they have an already made up jargin letter to squash my complaint to them.
It is systematic, organized stealing from start to finish.
LETS NOT LET THEM GET AWAY WITH THIS.
The man who was dealing with my daughter was hostile and aggressive.. This is their M.O to younger people and then they have more tricks up their sleeves as attested by the other reviews on here
Please message me at mala dot 50 at outlook dot com or watsapp 07988921852. if you want to collective shut this company down. Too many scam, rip off, thieves taking our hard earned cash. They think they can do it to foreigners and get away with it.
The fact it is in an airport and allowed with such vile reviews and a organized fashion is a slap in the face.
Please message me with your issues with this company, dates, costs, money lost etc. No matter how long ago. We can collective stop this happening to many other innocent people.
