A Comprehensive Gateway into Venture Capital
This was exactly what I was looking for to both learn venture capital and connect with the right people. There are plenty of VC fellowship programs that offer learning materials, but nothing I’ve seen is as comprehensive and structured as the GoingVC curriculum. I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking to break into VC, as well as founders who want a deeper understanding of how investors think and operate.
I appreciate the education and…
I appreciate the education and networking of the fellowship program. I'm learning the nuances of venture capital while also gaining access to experienced professionals. The program also provides an opportunity to gain experience which I look forward to garnering.
Received tactical teaching materials to…
Received tactical teaching materials to help teach my interns about the mechanics of early stage venture and met two friends in my cohort that I am still close to 5+ years later (Cohort 8 in W21)
GoingVC was my bridge into the VC…
GoingVC was my bridge into the VC industry after leaving start-up sales. I went all in, attending every meeting and taking on every project. This armed me with a massive amount of education about the industry. I am still involved in the community, which is an added perk of going through the program.
Key program for breaking into VC
Key program for breaking into VC. I loved hands on approach to education. Particularly I enjoyed the involvement of my principals during the investor program, the members openness to connect and support each other.
I had a great experience learning from peers and the program
I had a great experience in cohort 3. The peer network and unique experience of creating my first investment memo were a great confidence boost, as was seeing new job opportunities on the Slack channel.
GoingVCs scouting program was the best part
I found the scouting program to be the most valuable part of the course, as it provided invaluable practical experience in speaking with founders and pitching their ideas to investors.
Highly recommend GVC
The GoingVC program was extremely well organized, with regular communication and tools like Notion, Airtable, and Slack integrated seamlessly into the curriculum to help members easily navigate materials and track their progress. Lectures featured notable, varied VCs speaking from first-hand experience who offered valuable advice and insights. Reading materials, recording of past lectures, and the assignments were readily available and especially helpful in reinforcing what was covered that week. The program manager Dan was a great resource throughout, not to mention an engaging moderator of the lectures! One highlight was the investor program - an opportunity for cohort members to gain real VC experience sourcing startups, speaking with founders, and working through due diligence.
Highly recommend GoingVC to anyone curious about VC or entrepreneurship - whether you’re considering a career in investing or want to understand how it all works.
I was part of the 2017 cohort
I was part of the 2017 cohort, so it's been a WHILE, but I still keep in touch with some of the folks I met! As I recall, the classes were very good, though the questions of "how did you get into VC" were a real commonality and tended to be too circumstantial to really translate more broadly. What would've been more helpful would've been more targeted advice for alternative paths outside of IB/PE, critical skills to develop, or what people should know (vs what we may hear). Also, not sure if this is the case now, but the classes should be available online afterwards for reference for anyone who has taken the class but would like a refresher on a specific topic or who got too busy and had to take a pause.
I refer to what I learned in the Investor Program every day
I gained the most experience from the Investment Program. We were asked to source 2 startups and week and pitch the startup to a Principal and small group of other GoingVC alumni. The process of understanding how investors thinks and fielding questions was really valuable. It was also very rewarding to get one company through to investment. In my current role now at Morgan Stanley I leverage what I learned on a daily basis.
I’ve been a GoingVC community member…
I’ve been a GoingVC community member since 2019 when I was part of a cohort. Since then, It’s been a helpful and generous community of peers and mentorship. At the time, I particularly liked the educational elements like assignments and case studies that helped us to work independently and together on many important elements of venture capital investment. Having worked as an entrepreneur and an investor, the program has ‘aged’ with me well by providing a great base and a built-in professional network in which it has been great to be a member. It’s been 7 years and I continue to feel included in it, which is wonderful and much appreciated. Kudos to the leadership team for building and growing GoingVC’s impact!
Helped me land a job in VC
GoingVC is a comprehensive "pre-VC bootcamp" for folks who are interested in careers in VC. I attended Cohort 5 back in 2019, and was impressed by the quality of the program, and I continue to participate in the GoingVC network today. The network is solid and highly professional (best part of GoingVC experience) and the educational materials really helped lay the foundation for practicing VC skills prior to joining the industry. If you want to pursue venture financing (VC or Angel Investing), this is a great program to lay down the foundation and to meet like-minded people. Highly recommended!
VC Excellence
Most comprehensive program available to build your network, teach you venture capital fundamentals, provide practical working experience and set you up for landing a job in the industry.
Great speakers, unique education
The program had some amazing speakers and helped me delve into an industry that I knew very little about
I had a great experience with GoingVC
I had a great experience with GoingVC. Arno, Dan, and all the special guests that attended provided a lot of content that added value. As someone who has experience in VC beforehand, I still look a lot away from this opportunity.
What made my experience positive and…
What made my experience positive and memorable was the encouraging support of the staff, the guest speakers, and the cohort. The interview process was probably a great way to identify diverse individuals who each could contribute to the conversation and advance shared learning. Further, the wealth of information made available and that continue to be accessible for all cohorts is an unparalleled benefit. No other program has this amount of accessiblity and it's a tremendous community building feature. GoingVC does this well, community building and encouraging interraction between everyone who has gone through the program. The Venture investor program is also a terrific way to foster skill development and introduce members to the demands of the field.
GoingVC
The venture capital space is notoriously difficult to enter despite its appeal. It can be even more difficult without backgrounds at elite shops or schools. GoingVC brilliantly bridges that gap with specialised training delivered in a practical and flexible format with a cohort of serious people that actually have the pedigree and capital to walk their talk.
Disciplined Approach to Learning Venture Capital
I had a good experience with GoingVC. The program provides a structured and practical introduction to early-stage venture capital, with clear lectures and well-designed assignments that encourage investor-style thinking. The case studies and discussions help build judgment rather than just theoretical knowledge. Overall, it’s a solid option for anyone looking to understand how VC works in practice.
Great Program - Highly recommend it
GoingVC’s flagship program is outstanding for anyone pursuing a career in venture capital. It offers a rigorous curriculum covering VC fundamentals, exit anatomy, and most importantly how to effectively support founders. The internship provides hands-on experience in deal review and DD, along with direct exposure to a global network of angels, private equity and VC funds.
Worth the investment
GoingVC offers a well-structured curriculum with lots of individual attention and opportunities to network with a diverse crew of Venture folks. By the end, you absolutely have a deep dive not only into the technical work but also the cadence of investing and exits. It would be helpful for anyone looking to either broaden their knowledge of the space or pivot into it.
My only wish was that the Slack was a permanent artifact of previous cohorts (it's a free version) and that there was more engagement there by other alums and members. It would have been nice to have in-person networking or mixers in some core cities as well.
But it was absolutely worth the investment, and it is what you make out of it personally with all the tools to get you there.
