People frequently encountered frustrating booking problems, such as missing reservations upon arrival, unexpected extra fees, and unexpected deposits demanded at the counter. Consumers also stated that customer service was completely unhelpful, unresponsive to calls, and very difficult to reach when trying to resolve billing disputes. Highly unreliable just hours before my travel informed vechile not available

I booked a car more than a week and confirmed the collection but to my surprise they just called up few hours before collection and informed car not available and left me with no option just before travel. It is very frustrating and annoying in the last minutes my family of 9 people including eldors and booked all travel arrangements for 10 days across various places in the uk. Enterprise could have arranged it from other locations where there are vechicles available. They left me without any options and i have to find myself in other nearby locations but as i booked it last minute i have paid £300 more than my original quote. I have raised complain but none looking after my problem. Highly unreliable rental car option and i felt local car rentals far better and support. Booking ref 1695197078. I should deserve the loss i been through from enterprise as it is enterprise didnt care my travel and left me no option in the last minute.

No to Enterprise Car Hire and a warning to others.

My experience with Enterprise Car Hire in Poland has been very disappointing. In my ongoing dispute, no one has responded to repeated requests for evidence that a chip on the windscreen was caused by us. Despite this, they have taken 1,600 AUD from my account and are still asking for more money, threatening me that if I don’t pay, I will receive a bad credit rating. The communication is the worst I have ever had with any company ever. The process has left me without a voice (hence this review), and unable to challenge their claims in a fair manner. I am left with no clear explanation or proof and possibly close to $2000 out of pocket For an international company that should provide trustworthy service, this is extremely frustrating and stressful. The Polish to English translations have also been very confusing. I would strongly not recommend them based on this experience. I loved visiting Poland. Just this experience with Enterprise was awful. As a result I cancelled two other car hires on my Europe trip.

Do not use this company

Do not use this company. Total con artists. First of all only given a couple of hours notice of them demanding the car to be returned that day even before our car had been returned to us. I travel for work so it was really inconvenient as I had to leave work early to accommodate this. We also disputed damage on the hire car which was a small gouge to the tyre Whilst we had done a visual check in the car and looked at the tyre tred. We hadn’t inspected the tyres in that great detail. As the car already had accident damage and the car was not properly cleaned on pick up I wanted proof that it we had caused the damaged and that it was not there previously. The gentleman who handed the car over to us said he told us to inspect everything which he didn’t and his attitude was really poor. We were promised that that no money would be removed from our account until it was resolved. Despite that £150 removed from my account. I asked for two quotes for tyres and got absolutely nothing. I half expect that if I went back to check the car the gouge would still be there. We didn’t choose this company it was one the insurance company arrange. We certainly wouldn’t use the again as you can’t trust a word they say.

AVOID AVOID AVOID !

AVOID AVOID AVOID !
We booked a small van with Enterprise Frejus, for collection at 12:00. We arrive 10 minutes early, to be told that the van needs a new bumper fitting, and it work will start at 14:00. No call. NOTHING !
We decide one of us will wait 2 hours + . Then told we need passports for I.D. NOTHING in the booking mentioned passports. Evetually they accepted my Carte de Sjr. They offer us a car instead - we NEED A VAN! That is why we booked a VAN !
We finally get the van, but on the way home, realise the A/C is not working - on the hottest day ever in France. It is blowing air at 46'C !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
17:30 We call ALL of the possible numbers, but no answer from ANY of them apart from breakdown, who say they cannot help, and to contact the local branch, who don't answer - AGAIN.

The next day we return the van, as it is not useable without A/C.
They want to charge us for the day's hire, even though all they have done is make us waste a whole day, just to pick the useless thing up, which wasn't ready and wasn't working !!!

A week later. No communication. No Refund. NOTHING !! 3 weeks later, still nothing.

Eventually, after 1st complaining to the UK head office (who told us to contact the Local branch - AARRGGHHH) we sent them another email threatening legal action, and only THEN did they process the refund - a full month after we returned the van

This is the worst hire experience ever.

Lesson - DO NOT USE ENTERPRISE - EVER !!!

2 bookings, 2 cancellations , 5 mins before, no solution , didn’t care

I booked a van for a house move 4 weeks ago, at 5.54pm the night before , they called to say it wasn’t available and there was no alternative but they were closing so didn’t care. I went online and booked another one 45 mins away for 8am, drove 40 mins and 5 mins before getting there they called and said it wasn’t available. This meant a whole house moving chain fell through because I could move out on time. The branches did not care, the customer service chat cut off three times and would t give a complaint number, when I finally found one the lady said sorry this happens all the time. There aren’t enough vehicles in the network. I wish I read the reviews. DO NOT BOOK with Enterprise, it is completely unreliable and they no not care when it goes wrong.

Booked a van to hire for 2nd January…

Booked a van to hire for 2nd January 2026 from the Sway Road Morriston Swansea, received a call at 8am on the morning of the colllection day by the manager to inform me that there had been an error and that there was no vehicle available. I was also informed that the payment I made of £160 would not be taken as it was only a pending transaction.
A few days later the payment had been taken from my bank account.
After numerous phone calls to both the branch and customer service centre as well as a personal visit to the branch each time being advised that the refund will be actioned and please wait 10 days to receive the payment in the account no refund has been issued.
This has now been on going for 7 months.
The company has been full of false promises and lack of ownership.
Even the area manager has failed to respond to my complaint.
It’s the worse customer experience I’ve ever experienced in my entire life and seems to be a shambles of a company

Bognor Regis Branch -excellent

We've just returned a loan Fiat 500 we had as my wife's car was in the body shop for repairs for a month.
The service received from the team at Bognor was first class.

They were all friendly, helpful, professional and a pleasure to deal with at all stages of the process.

Jamie and Jess were outstanding.

Such a pleasure to deal with especially compare to the abysmal experiences I have had with other cr rental companies, particulary Hertz who are abysmal.

Well done Enterprise Bognor

No vehicle available

I went online on a Saturday for a pick up on Monday end of day. I received a phone call Monday at 9:30 telling me they did not have ANY cars available.

When your company is renting cars, you should have cars available. It is like saying DQ ran out of ice cream ?!!!

You won’t stay open long if you don’t have cars to rent.

Dodgy practice dirty car

Booked a car through car repair company when I went to collect the ar I was told didn't have any standard cars and had to pay extra. Car was dirty with rubbish in the car and on empty only just made it to the petrol station acted like a dodgy little company rather than a large brand complained twice through the customer care team and advised omeone would contact me to arrange a refund but have heard nothing. Complained to car repair company and they contacted the manager and said this is common practice by them in order to up sell? Still not heard anything absolutely appalling wouldn't advise you use this company a bunch of pirates .

The Milkman of Human Kindness (Carmarthen, Cymru, Wales)

The Milkman of Human Kindness

Good Afternoon Mr. Williams,

I hope you are well.

I have recently returned from annual leave, with today being my first day back, so I have not been able to read or respond to your previous emails until now.

Unfortunately, splitting the cost is not something we would be able to accommodate, particularly as it would involve charging another customer for damage that occurred during your rental.

I do completely understand your frustration regarding taking the larger vehicle and the situation surrounding the damage. However, the vehicle was taken with an awareness of its increased size and with full knowledge of the £2250 excess.

As outlined in our terms and conditions, the repair bill will be issued to you within 60 days of the repairs being completed on the vehicle.

If you have any further queries or concerns, these can be handled by our damage recovery unit.

Please feel free to leave any reviews you wish or to contact Trading Standards, who will be able to confirm that we have acted in line with our policies and the contract that was agreed.

Kind regards,

Greg Evans

This is the letter I received from Mr Gregory Evans (Llandysul) Branch Manager of the Carmarthen Branch (Portakabin) of Enterprise Rent-a-car.

I hired a van online, a small van 3 m squared, to undertake a fleamarket. I arrived at their portakabin on the outskirts of Carmarthen town on a Friday to be told that there would be a delay in getting the vehicle I ordered.

A phone call from their branch and an email from their Swansea Branch Manager, Mr Ethan Long, to notify me that my rental would be late.

I could hear staff on the phone asking the 'renter' when they would be able to return the van. They were doing removals in Swansea and wouldn't be able to bring the van I had booked back until 4.30-5.30pm

The manager who looked exactly like Mr Greg Evans (Llandysul) informed me that he would take £30.00 off my rental charge "have a pint on us"

Enterprise Rent-a-car provided me with a large van, unsuitable for my purpose but I accepted it. My rental should have been for 11.30am instead I left their Portakabin at 12.40pm

This was my second van hire from this location and my last. The staff use hand held computers that can take your credit card payment faster than you can sign your name. I declined the upselling of a daily damage waiver as it would not allow me to break even on the fleamarket.

I return the vehicle with damage to the roof where I reversed under the plastic guttering of my home which despite a reversing camera looking down didn't warn me about looking up.

I returned the van on the Monday, not admitting negligence but admitting tiredness and fatigue and responsibility. My suggestion to Enterprise Rent-a-Car, Portakabin, Carmarthen was the renter who was late, Enterprise themselves and I share the cost of the damage.

My credit card has been charged £2,250 by these cowboys and I have to wait 60 days to hear how much the damage to the vehicle was and whether I will get a refund for any of that amount.

IMPORTANT FOR OTHER POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS TO NOTE
When you book online, your payment goes to their UK Head Office in Egham, Surrey.

Any upselling, daily damage waiver rates go to the local branch so it is the Carmarthen Franchise that holds my £2,250 not the UK Head Office.

So the long and the short of it is, I should have read the reviews about this franchisee before agreeing to rent. They make it look so easy and inviting and cost effective online but it's when you get to the branch that the upselling starts and you start to feel uneasy about the responsibility you have just undertaken.

The last words of the staff member that dealt with me as I left the Portakabin was
"Your free to go now Mr Williams" as my credit card was being savaged behind my back.

BUYER BEWARE!!!

Confirmed Reservation, No Minivan, No Accountability

I booked a minivan through Expedia with Enterprise on February 16, 2026, for pickup on May 22, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. The reservation cost was $500.79.

At approximately 1:30 p.m. on the day of pickup, I called the Enterprise location to see if the vehicle was available early. I was told it was not ready and to arrive at my originally scheduled pickup time.

When I arrived that evening, Enterprise checked me in, completed all of the rental paperwork, and sent me to retrieve the vehicle. Only then was I informed that there was no minivan available. At that point, I had to scramble to find another rental while beginning a family vacation.

After approximately 2½ hours of searching, I was able to secure another minivan, but it cost $816.71—more than $315 above my original reservation.

That same evening, I contacted Expedia by phone. I was specifically told that Expedia would reimburse the difference between my original reservation and the replacement rental once I submitted the final invoice after my trip. I relied on that representation.

After my trip, Expedia advised that they were working with Enterprise to reach a resolution. However, Enterprise never contacted me, and, to my knowledge, Enterprise did not authorize or offer any compensation. Expedia ultimately denied reimbursement and instead offered a $75 travel credit.

While I appreciate the gesture, a $75 credit does not address either the additional expense or the significant inconvenience. This was not a last-minute reservation—I booked the vehicle more than three months in advance. There was ample time for Expedia and Enterprise to identify and resolve any inventory issues before my scheduled pickup.

What is most disappointing is not simply the additional cost, but the lack of communication. Had I received a phone call before arriving, I could have arranged alternate transportation without losing hours of my vacation. Instead, I completed the rental paperwork, was sent to retrieve the vehicle, and only then learned that the reserved vehicle was unavailable.

I have used Expedia many times, but this experience has significantly reduced my confidence in booking rental cars through the platform. Customers should be able to rely on reservations made months in advance and on the commitments made by customer service representatives when problems occur. If Expedia tells a customer, it will reimburse additional costs incurred because a confirmed reservation could not be honored, that commitment should be upheld.

Dangerous vehicle, shocking customer service, and clueless staff at Chingford

I rented a van from the Chingford branch, and it was an absolute nightmare from start to finish.

When I picked up the vehicle, the staff member told me there was no locking wheel nut key. I hoped for the best, but just 10 minutes into my journey on the motorway, the AdBlue light started flashing to indicate it was completely empty. Had I stopped the engine without noticing, I would have been stranded.
It got much worse on the second day when the tyre failed on the motorway because a wheel bolt had completely fallen off. Enterprise later admitted the van had undergone wheel work the day before my rental, meaning they handed me a vehicle with loose bolts—a massive health and safety hazard for me and my passengers.
I had to use their recommended recovery service to go to Kwik Fit. The technician there confirmed the bolt could only have fallen off if it hadn’t been tightened properly. I had to pay £103 out of my own pocket for the tyre and lost half a day of my rental.
When I returned the van, the nightmare continued. The branch employee rudely argued with me, claimed there was a locking wheel nut key, held my deposit, and tried to charge me to replace it.

Update: After arguing with me for half an hour, the branch finally called me back to admit their own mechanic confirmed there was never a locking wheel nut on the vehicle—it just had regular bolts.
The staff here are completely clueless about the safety of the vehicles they are renting out, and the customer service was aggressively rude. I am deeply shaken by how dangerous this vehicle was and outraged by how I was treated. Avoid this branch at all costs.

****Enterprise Kilmarnock ****

****Enterprise Kilmarnock ****
I'm in my 50's and have had driving experience for over 30years, I have never had points or convictions on my licence. I have stayed at my home address for 4.5 years. I rented a van of Enterprise on February without issue, so I decided to use the company again on 10/06/2026. I arrived at 8.30am for my 9am pickup for the van. My daughter was moving home and everyone was waiting. The girl at the counter was nice. She said that she was having an issue with my booking. I didn't worry too much at this point because I have hired cars and vans before and assumed she was new staff. The manager Sam came over and input my information again and said my address details didn't match on the system and I couldn't rent a van because of this. I was shocked and said that this must of been an error as i rented one in February with no issues at all. The manager could clearly see i was stressed and pancaking as we had arranged a whole move based on the van rental. He was indifferent to me, showed no customer service, and when I explained I had to use a van that day he simply shrugged and said it wasn't possible. I couldn't believe it. I have never experienced such lack of customer service and felt degraded by him. I was tearful and annoyed at this time as several members of my family had taken days off to help with the move. I don't understand how someone can rent in February and June be declined with the same details. Its maddening. I called ARNOLD CLARK and managed to save the move by renting a van from them with NO ISSUES whatsoever. Enterprise is a company which lets you down when you need them,

Run away

Run away! Seriously do not hire from the Brisbane Airport branch of Enterprise Car Hire. They cancelled our booking after we arrived and took 56 days to refund thier own cancellation but only refunded part of it! National Australia Bank personally refunded the rest! They demanded $1000.00 bond which I agreed to then demanded a credit card hold, both staff unable to show either policy on thier online booking form. They said it's listed under policies elsewhere on thier website. They refused to give me any paperwork and conveniently couldn't reach thier manager on the phone. All we got was a name. The staff looked just as confused. We had to use other funds to hire at Sixt who were much more normal.

Enterprise are criminals.

Enterprise are criminals.

They let you book vehicles online, then tell you the night before (20:00) you have a VERY important trip they booked they are cancelling your booking. This happened TWICE. When I rung them, they told me they've been dealing with upset people all day. Their booking system is broken and they have admitted it.

Sort it out Enterprise.

I'm not a violent guy, but the anger and stress you caused me nearly caused me to come down to the branch and unless hell.

You have cost me money, time and robbed me of two days of my holiday.

Do better.
