Explanation of the sheen level of different paints

We needed a paint for our en suite and was sold vinyl sheen by a local builders merchants. I did not want too high a gloss on the walls. I contacted Dulux to find out if bathroom paint would be better. Very helpful young man clarified this for me.

Amazing customer service

Amazing customer service, helped us with our move. We always use dulux when painting and couldn't reccommend a better paint! Nav who I spoke to via email was very friendly and helpful. Such a lovely company!

Dulux Claim paint is breathable but do not provide any evidence. I called technical service they responded to my query but had to pass it on. (In reality not a technical query number!) They need to at least provide evidence on the breathability of paints?

To clarify, we do not share lists of the SD Values of our products, but we can share the EN 1062 classification of our Trade wall emulsions. EN 1062 is a European Standard and method for determining the liquid water permeability of coatings:

Paints are formulated to resist or permit water vapor transmission. The V value is the water vapor transmission rate (WVTR) and measures the passage of water vapor through a substance of a given unit area and unit time (Normally this is a 24 hour period):

Class V1 - Highly Breathable – SD less than 0.14
Class V2 - Moderately Breathable – SD in-between 0.14 to 1.4
Class V3 - Limited Breathability – SD more than 1.4

If you have a specific Trade wall emulsion in mind, please let us know and we can advise the EN 1062 Class for you.

Alternatively, there is a separate aspect of paints called VOCs (volatile organic compounds), and we label the VOC level on our cans, with water based paints being rated LOW or even MINIMAL depending on the paint (some of our wall paints are 99.9% VOC free). We would be happy to provide VOC information on our paints as well.

Dulux Customer Service was great

Dulux Customer Service was great. I had a problem with a tin of paint bought from a (reputable) company who didn’t want to resolve the issue for me, but Dulux stepped in and resolved this quickly, thank you!

Good and prompt service to my queries.
I didn’t give 5 stars due to the paint. The smooth hammerite does not cover well on bright steel and needs a primer.
Compared to other POR type products not the best

Great Customer Service

We had an issue with the finish of the emulsion which was resolved following our first contact with customer service. Great prompt and understanding Customer service.

The website is confusing

The website is confusing. Too much there. I wanted tester pots for a particular colour, but trying to find them was too hard. I got on to customer service and they were superb.

Dulux gives wrong colour

I’m starting to think dulux has been hacked because every paint I have ordered has come out completely wrong. Mint macaroon is grey, duck egg is bright blue, and nutmeg is a dirty white grey. Colour. Even matching colours is also poor and yes I know it’s never the perfect match but when it’s on a different colour chart and doesn’t even resemble the colour you want and it’s non refundable better off staying well away from dulux.this was across three different stores, B&Q, Travis Perkins and brewers, so it’s definitely dulux a system!

Products are now awful!

What has happened to your brand?
Bought 2.5 of satinwood ONCE off amazon, its like water and glossy, 3 coats and still rubbish coverage!
I bought some few years ago was jelly like and covered good either you have been bought out by the big boys and they do what they do to all takeovers remove the quality from all products for greed or this is fake stuff repackaged ???

Blatant sexism in Gloucester store

Paint is great; pity about the customer service. We went into the store in Gloucester, where I hold an account. Despite the fact that I was choosing and paying for the paint, the salesman consistently addressed my partner ("Sir"). When it was clear it was my account and I was paying, and when my partner left the store, he turned to addressing me ... as "My love". Sort your act out, Dulux. Such sexism gives an excellent brand a very poor image.

I've had a reply from Dulux, below, which hardly makes things better: surely the correct response is to say they will give their staff a bit of training on how to deal with *all* customers politely, rather than acting like I'm not telling the truth?

Absolutely excellent customer service

Absolutely excellent customer service! Had a voucher that had expired and the friendly team responded so quickly to my emails and in such a friendly manner. Was given a voucher code to redeem online. Absolutely delighted.
