So glad we did this in 9th grade

I happened across Tony's post on a Facebook post. My teen is in 9th grade and doesn't know what she wants to do after high school. I don't expect her too. However, I want to keep her options open and help set her up for success when the time comes that she has a better idea. I did the free online workshop and signed up to get her a College Admissions Roadmap, which basically individualized her path through high school. We met with Tony and shared information on her studies and passions. He gave amazing insight as to what we should be trying, based on her skills and interests, and then help her continue or rule out certain career paths. I was happy we did this in 9th grade because it gives us a change to try things for the next two years and then get really focused for the last two years of high school. egelloC helped suggest the courses she should be taking, how to deepen her current activities (passions), and options to look at in the summer. As a parent, of a ninth grader who doesn't know what she wants to do, I now feel much more confident that we are setting her up for success with the courses we are choosing in the years ahead. My daughter is doing congruent enrollment (dual enrollment) at two colleges nearby. They were able to look up the classes at both colleges, as well as our current high school, and recommend specific classes to take at each one of them. They also recommended some colleges that have strong dance and equestrian activities, which are my daughter's passions. egelloC is so specific to your child's own path and that is what separates them from your own high school guidance councilor. They are accessible, informative, and extremely helpful. The path for my child is malleable and they continue to change with the information we gather as my child explores her future. It's the same price whether you start in 11th or 9th grade, so my suggestions for parents is to start early so you don't have regrets. I don't want to be saying "I wish I would have..." when it comes to my daughter's future.

EgelloC - Worth Every Star: Navigating College Applications Successfully

We are immensely grateful for the guidance and dedication provided by Coach Kristen. She has proven to be an indispensable asset, consistently supporting my family and me with every concern we have brought forward. Coach Kristen embodies efficiency, professionalism, and a genuine problem-solving spirit, all backed by a remarkable wealth of knowledge. Her approach is always warm, personable, and deeply human, and everyone in my family is thankful for her impact. While Kristen is our primary point of contact, we must also commend the strength of the entire EgelloC team. We’ve had access to, and benefited from, many other coaches, and they all uphold the same fantastic standard of excellence. We would like to offer a special acknowledgment to Coach Tony Le, who is also a trusted favorite of ours. Words truly fall short in conveying the depth of our appreciation. We wholeheartedly and without reservation recommend EgelloC.

Helpful

Coach Tony laid out the three pillars of the college admission process and an action plan in a way that was easy to understand. I learned a lot in a short amount of time and feel better equipped than I felt before the call.

Coach Ariel is Absolutely Fantastic

Ever since I switched to Coach Ariel my imagination and writers block has completely gone away. She is very knowledgeable towards every aspect of the college application process, but also almost like a part time therapist/hype girl. I’m endlessly grateful for everything she has done for me and wouldn’t want my college application experience to go any differently.

Read this if you are thinking of using their Financial "Secrets"

If you are considering using the "College Financial Secrets" subset of this company please read this carefully.

We were told by David, who runs this part of their company, that they knew how to navigate the system and would basically do everything for us to help us. What actually happened was much different.

Once they had our check we never heard from him. We would have to reach to to see what we needed to do and it was like pulling teeth to get any feedback or information from him.

Here is what we have deduced. He fills out the FAFSA, and later the school puts together the package that you would have gotten anyway. He claims this is their “expertise” when the reality is you think you are paying for someone who knows something more than that to get you more aid after the FAFSA is sent in and your initial offer.

When you talk to David before you send in the check to them he implies that they know “secrets” about how to get more for financial aid. If he knows any “secrets” he did not share them with us. I consider myself pretty savvy financially, but I do give hats off to him, he was able to con us and make us feel like fools. As parents, we want the best for our kids for this very expensive endeavor of college and this makes us vulnerable.

The last straw was when we asked him about how to proceed with asking for further financial aid to a college our student had gotten into(this is what we thought we were paying for) and he sent us an amateurish form letter that looked like it was written by chatGPT. He literally told us to mail this letter, in the mail. This didn’t sound right so we checked on the school site and they clearly state to not mail letters and to submit through the portal.

We discussed our concerns with David and he told my wife "well I pretty much did all the work already". All he did was fill out the FAFSA. That's it. If you think that $3500 is a good price to fill out the FAFSA then go with this company. We asked for a refund and they said they would give us back $1000, which we never received.

Our only recourse at this point is to warn others so they don’t get taken advantage of too.

You’ve been warned.

My favorite part of today’s event was getting time to work on and focus on UC PIQs! I have been having a hard time sitting down and finding time to write my PIQs and this event was a great way to make progress on my PIQs.
