Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 13,117 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people found customer service problematic, often unable to reach live agents and encountering unhelpful automated systems or disconnected calls. Reviewers frequently struggled with refunds, reporting difficulties, long delays, or partial reimbursements. Customers also faced booking issues, including properties not matching descriptions, double bookings, or misleading practices. Conversely, a small portion of people found properties easy to locate and book. Some reviewers also reported satisfactory customer support, describing it as professional and helpful, especially for those who hadn't faced serious problems before.

Total disaster support

Total disaster support! Reached out 5 times, they keep me waiting, disconnecting. and still no resolution. FLight was booked through booking.com, airline canceled a flight and I am not able to get refund neither from airline nor from booking. Booking said they escalated but later sent me an email to reach out to airline. Airiline says third party who I booked the flight with should issue the refund. I will never book through them again!

Arrived at the Beldevere Guest House…

Arrived at the Beldevere Guest House Great Yarmouth and it was a derelict building. Booking.com promised to relocate my family but they did not. Sat waiting round with young children and I can see from reviews on website that this has happened many times at the property so Booking.com are well aware that this keeps happening. Absolutely disgusting. I want a full refund

I would not give them 1 star

I would not give them 1 star. Booked flight only to goa, with air india for December this year. A payment of £848.70 was duly paid. Air India then cancelled the flight. I was refunded £706.75p a shortfall of £141.95p can't even get through to booking.com have to go through GoToGate.com in partnership with booking.com. so in short I have lost nearly £142. They are all charlatans. Do not use for your own safety

An unexpected turn for the worse. Double bookings.

Have a look at the recent reviews and you will see a relatively new and unexpected turn for the worse. The company starting going bad when it accepted bookings of accommodations normally reserved for Air BnB. Now it appears property owners are listing across both platforms and it's resulting in double bookings. Just had our Xmas holiday booking cancelled due to exactly that. Unforgivable.

No resolution with refunds

I am extremely disappointed with my experience of Booking.com and the way my case has been handled.

My booking was cancelled by the property owner, and I have now been waiting over 25 days for a refund of almost £2,000. Despite contacting customer service on numerous occasions, I have received no clear explanation for the delay or any confirmation of when my refund will be processed.

The customer service has been particularly frustrating. I have been disconnected during calls multiple times and then had to call back and explain my case from the beginning to a different adviser. There appears to be no ownership or continuity in handling customer complaints.

To make matters worse, I have been unable to contact the property owner through the Booking.com platform because every message returns a "message failed to send" error. This has left me completely dependent on Booking.com to resolve the issue, yet I have received little meaningful support.

What concerns me most is that Booking.com continues to tell me they are attempting to contact the property owner before progressing my refund. In my view, this has only served to delay the process further. Given that the booking was made through the Booking.com platform and subsequently cancelled by the property owner, I believe Booking.com has a responsibility to ensure customers receive refunds promptly rather than leaving them waiting while repeated attempts are made to contact the host.

I also raised concerns early on that I believed the property may not have been legitimate and that obtaining a refund directly from the host could become an issue. Despite raising these concerns, I have been left waiting with no resolution. If accommodation providers are allowed to advertise on the Booking.com platform, customers should be able to rely on Booking.com to step in and resolve situations like this quickly and fairly.

The outstanding refund has placed me in a difficult financial position, and the lack of communication has only added to the stress. I have now escalated the matter to the relevant consumer protection authorities because I have been unable to obtain a satisfactory resolution directly with Booking.com.

I appreciate that issues can arise, but I expected Booking.com to protect its customers when something goes wrong. Instead, I have been left without my money, without clear communication, and without confidence that my case is being managed properly. Until this experience is resolved and Booking.com improves the way it handles customer disputes and refunds, I cannot recommend the platform.

My wife booked a room for the Bennington Hotel in Dublin but had to cancel due to a family crisis. She got confirmation for the cancelation but we were still charged even though the cancellation was done within the required period. Do not trust these charlatans! 😡

I would never use this platform

I would never use this platform. God forbid you need their help in a dispute, the policies are always in the favour of their profit hungry business model. You're treated like an ant among a million other ants.
Save some money and contact the property directly for a booking.

Worth 5 stars, but.

Booked return flights and hotel stay in Egypt and everything was perfect. Price was good, hotel was magnificent. Everything worth 5 stars, really.

Unfortunately Booking.com works with GoToGate that offers fasttrack service through airports and failed miserably.

So cannot give more than 4 stars as a choice of GoToGate as partner cannot possibly be more damaging to customer overall experience.

Failure to refund $AU360 for booking cancelled by hotel

This multi-billion dollar company is rotten. I booked three nights in a hotel in Sydney, but upon arrival was told by hotel staff that rooms are unavailable as they were being renovated. The hotel staff said they had advised booking.com of this weeks in advance. So I had to find another hotel and pay again. I provided booking.com with all requested information several times over four weeks, and requested a refund. I received only auto-generated, generic responses. They have zero customer service. They are thieves. I will never use this rotten company again.
In future, I will book directly with the accommodation provider. This will cut the Big Thief, booking.com, out of the loop.

Booking’s “genious” makes you an “idiot”

Impossible to contact them about their service, not the bookings itself. They are constantly pushing on me how beneficial it is for me to vbe at “genious” level whereas when I compare prices with other “mediocres” they get better prices consistently. When I try to contact them I get email reply for more information from no-reply email, so the email bounces when trying to forward them supporting documentation.

Impossible to contact booking.com

Booking.com took our money. Did not confirm the booking or send us a booking/reference number. Apparently the made booking anyhow without informing us. Now i have to pay a cancellation fee at the hotel although we were not aware of the booking.
AI agent is shit. Impossible to speak to a real human being to sort out the problem. Customer service is non existing

If I could give zero stars

If I could give zero stars, I would. I am beyond pissed off dealing with this absolute nonsense. The hotel charged me €86, then I changed my dates, the price dropped, and the hotel flat-out refuses to refund the difference while lying through their teeth saying they already processed it.And what does Booking.com do? Their useless customer support just keeps spinning the wheel and stalling. They have the nerve to ask me for some magical, custom-tailored unicorn transaction receipt just because they are too incompetent to read a standard, official statement provided directly by ING Bank.We are arguing over €3.99 here, but it’s the principle of the theft and the sheer, mind-numbing stupidity of the process. Imagine if it was €399 or more—they’d probably ask for a blood sample and a signed confession from my cat. The story just goes on and on with these idiots passing the buck. Avoid Booking.com and this scammy setup like the plague.

Booking.com is easy to use.

Booking.com is easy to use and offers in general low prices compared.to other similar sites.

It has flaws, such as:

- All information about the places to live comes from the second part (the hotels/hostels). Sometimes you get a picture of a very nice living but end up in a place that does not look like the hotel at all. This is not a problem caused by Booking.com.
We have learned the lesson to always double check the places to stay. Do they exist in other pages? Did they get many reviews (lately)?

If traveling to many places, it is convenient to see all the bookings in booking.com app.

We.even booked a flight with change of flight, trough booking.com
It worked fine (but there was no problems with flights either).

Booking dot scam booked me a room…

Booking dot scam booked me a room yesterday. Paid for the room . I showed up 30 hours later. No room available.
Took me 30 + minutes to get a real person (that I could barely understand) on the phone. Told her the problem. She asked if she could put me on a brief hold. I hung up after 45 minutes. DON'T USE THIS SERVICE!! DELETE YOUR APP!!!

Two times is out.

Two times is out.

The 1st experience was concerning the distance between my position and the position of the hotel. It was announced by booking as 10km. That was a 'birdview' distance. By road it was around 80km with two frontiers. During winter in the Alps and bad weather.

The 2nd was today in Canada. Failed CC check according to Booking.com. All my other direct reservations uptil now with the same CC were fine and approved.

You don't want discomfort like the above when you're on a vacation.

Such a bad experience, never again!

Promised cost difference refund being withheld

I have been waiting for more than 3 months for the promised refund of a cost difference on a booking made in April 2026. The property I had booked was cancelled by the owner the evening before the booking. On the morning of the booking I spoke to a senior customer service representative at Booking.com who found me a replacement accommodation which cost more than the original booking. He verbally promised me and backed that promise up in writing on an email that Booking.com would refund me the cost difference once I’d booked the new accommodation, had my stay and contacted Booking.com with my booking reference and PIN. I did exactly as he requested, I have called, emailed and messaged more than 12 times without any progress on my refund, All the customer service representatives tell me the case is under investigation by the Booking.com internal investigation team and that they need a little longer to complete their case study. A few of your customer service team members have been pleasant but the vast majority are incredibly rude and incompetent. It feels like a complete scam. This has been the most frustrating process and has been incredibly time consuming. I just want my money back as promised.
