Disgusting customer service for priority clients

My mum and younger brother are supposedly on their priority list due to my mum's age and health and my younger brother having learning disabilities and additional health issues. The gas meter has an error-failed battery showing. My mum had Vico homes as she thought it was the boiler..They highlighted the risk. We contacted Eon who said that they were not going to send anyone until Tuesday. The situation was explained and we had to send a photo of the issue. We then phoned again. It was explained all the issues and they have stated that they could not get an engineer as National Gas (who supposedly supply the engineers) are closed today but open Bank Holiday Monday. The first time my mum has really needed their assistance and they were nowhere to be seen. I do not know how they have a high score for working with vulnerable adults but it is not deserved in my opinion. I would recommend going with any other supplier.

As pensioners

As pensioners, we prefer to read our gas and electricity meter readings weekly and submit them on the E-On app. I am curious as to why now I'm having to ring E-On to see what our updated balance is, whereas at one time it only took a few hours for it to update. What's changed???

Terrible company to be a customer of!

Terrible company to be a customer of!!

I moved in to a new build flat on March 18th, 2026. To my surprise, I found out the electricity smart meter was faulty as it was flashing red lights and I was being billed on estimates. So I contacted E.ON on the first week of April to ask if they can replace the meter (which belonged to them anyway) and they agreed to do so but sent out an engineer a month later on the 8th of May to replace the meter with a new one to fix the problem.

To my surprise, the engineer (contracted) didn't do anything but rather just installed an in-home-display (IHD) device and told me my electricity meter will be working fine now which was a complete lie! The meter was still faulty I was still billed on estimates up until I moved out on the 24th of July. Honestly an incompetent company to deal with and I wouldn't recommend anyone to switch to them. I asked for a £40 refund based on the govt/ombudsman standards/procedures in July but the matter is still ignored by E.ON to this day!

Extremely poor customer service – E.ON admitted responsibility, yet the issue remains unresolved

I have been extremely disappointed with the service I have received from E.ON.

I decided to change energy suppliers, expecting the process to be straightforward. However, when I left E.ON, my final bill was not collected by Direct Debit. I was not made aware that the payment had not been taken, and as a result, the bill remained unpaid.

I only became aware of this when a late-payment marker was placed on my credit file, resulting in my credit score dropping by more than 30 points. This has been particularly frustrating because I had reasonably believed that my final bill had been paid as normal by Direct Debit.

What makes this situation even more frustrating is that E.ON have admitted responsibility for failing to collect the payment by Direct Debit. Despite this admission, the matter is still unresolved, more than two months later, and my credit score remains affected.

I have repeatedly contacted E.ON to try to get this resolved, but instead of taking ownership, I have been passed from one team to another and pushed from pillar to post.

The most frustrating part has been being continually referred to the Data Share Team, rather than having someone take responsibility for actually resolving my complaint. I should not have to keep chasing different departments to correct an issue that E.ON have already acknowledged was their responsibility.

After more than two months of waiting, I have now had enough and have escalated the matter to the Energy Ombudsman.

The whole experience has been unnecessarily stressful and time-consuming. What should have been a simple final-billing process has resulted in a significant impact on my credit score, despite E.ON acknowledging that they were responsible for the payment not being collected.

I expected much better from a major energy supplier. A complaints process should be about listening to the customer, taking responsibility and putting things right — not continually passing the customer between departments.

If you are considering E.ON, I would strongly recommend looking carefully at how they handle final bills and, more importantly, how they deal with customers when something goes wrong.

In my experience, E.ON's complaints process has failed to resolve an issue that they have already accepted responsibility for, and I am still left dealing with the consequences on my credit file.

Smart meter giving wrong cost of electricity used each day. Smart meter must be faulty but they won't replace. Easy solution we have switched it off and they will have to do a manual reading. Very disappointed.

Very unpleasant customer service

Very unpleasant customer service, Eon has refused to close my account twice and hit me with a litigation fee and escalation after my second call to setup a repayment plan with them - they denied the ability to setup the repayment and decided to escalate the situation - during a time period I was frequenting the hospital for medical attention.

After consistent attempts to resolve the issue being ignored, had to make a formal complaint, EON is the only company that generated problems at this level despite obvious, tangible and documented effort to resolve things from my end.

EV Charger Safety Fault

Been waiting 45 days so far for a replacement EV charger due to safety concerns, while E.ON happily sells new installations to web customers. Consumer Rights Act ignored, and no engineer in sight. Not the greatest service.

I moved into a property and i was sent…

I moved into a property and i was sent a bill from E-on as they were the suppliers at the time. It was a £275.00 bill for 30day usage. I spoke with them and agreed to pay it of at least£20 per month for 12 months. I moved out of the property in March 2026 and mad the final payment. They have now put the account on my credit file for May,June and then July. Even though the bill was cleared and no other payments made. They stated in July i had missed a payment. I contacted them and they said it was for debt recovery and late payment cost. Even though they sent me a final bill in march which stated only £27.50. They have now put a negative mark against my credit file and also not even sent a bill. I have contacted them but sent me a statement dated today which doesn’t prove that they have sent a final bill. I feel like they are just making things up to get fraudulent get money out of people. Would be interesting to see if anyone else has had the same experience

Probably the worst customer service I have dealt with. Multiple calls back promised which never happened.

The agents I have dealt with were inconsistent, lacked basic customer service and for a simple query, its taken months to resolve by back on forth emails. Constantly given different information, pick up the phone and it could be concluded.

Avoid this company at all costs

Avoid this company at all costs! I was an Eon customer for 1 year after moving to a new build house that they were the supplier of. From start to finish everything was useless and there was no customer support. 1 year ago I moved to Scottish Power, great company that I cannot praise enough. After 11months Eon then decided that I owe them £320 despite all closing meter readings a year ago giving me credit and refund of nearly £700. I want contacted by Eon, I only knew about this debit as they put a note on my Clearscore credit report. Their excuse is a gap in billing - how when all finalised readings were submitted I don't know. The billnis showing charges for when I was no longer a customer with Eon. After some research it seems my situation is quite common with othe previous customers having similar complaints. Absolute joke of a company, please do not use them no matter how good their rates may be, they are a complete incompetent disgrace of a company.

If I could give 0 I would

If I could give 0 I would! I have had a smart meter fixed today after being inundated with emails to do it. Whilst doing the smart meter the engineer had to turn my boiler off and it won't turn back on now. Said to ring EON and they'd send an engineer. No they won't! So now I'm without a working boiler with a family all weekend. They won't do anything until they contact the engineer who now is can't be contacted. I've been told to source my own engineer and they might reimbursement me once they've spoken to this engineer. Appalling! I won't be staying with EON and will be going to another provider. Absolute joke of a company ! Stay well clear

E.on are the worst energy supplier I’ve been with. Moved out of my old apartment and before moving I called to pay the final amount, then told I would need to pay a further £300 I set up a direct debit to pay in instalment's. Please tell me why a month ago I received a letter from a debt collector stating I owe E.on a further £150 even though I called and advised them when I was leaving the property. When I called E.on said we didn’t know who the person that moved into the property after you so used u as a point of contact and sorry nothing we can do. Horrible company. I am with British Gas and they are so much more professional and I would never recommend this disgraceful company to anyone.

Terrible customer service with no refund

We have been unable to use our WallBox EV charger for almost 4 weeks now as a result of a fault with the charger supplied by E on Next. Despite multiple emails requesting compensation for the time and inconvenience caused with having to charge our vehicle at stations, we have only been offered charge money in return of £200 and informed to keep our receipts for future charging. I have emailed numerous times and been given a complaints number but yet to have any acknowledgement or guidance over what compensation will be issued for the time and inconvenience caused. This is most disappointing and has made us reconsider our energy options at our property.

I would avoid E-on like the plague

I would avoid E-on like the plague! We purchased a wall charger several months ago. Only to be informed we cannot use it as there is a manufacturer issue. It has been over a month now with no resolution. They expect me to waste hours of my time to go and charge remotely elsewhere. Zero compensation for time wasted and the inconvenience caused! They now expect me to wait a further week for money to reimbursed. Awful company, Awful customer service!

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!

One of the worst companies I’ve ever dealt with. Customer service agents in South Africa (outsourced). They have no idea what’s going on. Continuous misadvice. Managers as clueless as his agents. Absolutely awful on every level.

Illegally removed my name from the account and told me to sort it with my ex partner. Tried to refund her my credit despite 3 calls clarifying that wouldn’t happen.

Agents are rude and unhelpful. Avoid at all costs. Go to octopus even if they are more expensive.

Taking my case to the ombudsman now as Eon don't give a sh*t. Honestly, be warned.

They’ll onboard you with useful UK agents and when something goes wrong, they will refuse to transfer you and keep you in SA and you get what you pay for.

Outsourced work = cheap labour. Avoid these scammers at all costs if you don’t want to lose money or the will to live!!!
